- Driving With My Wife - I'm not the best passenger but if you're going to get driven around by your wife, might as well make a video about it and what goes on and how she deals with it! :) Throw in the odd Audi pre-sense to mix it up as well.
Wife: Uses car. Gets home.
Chris: Checks brake pads for wear. 🤣
Love this content! Great to see a little of you other than 'at work'! Great to 'meet' your wife!
Keep them coming!
"Shall we try it?"
"NO!"😆
I've often had the same thought in my new car but I don't want it to not work and crash 😂
@@RetroAdz I'd not with to totally rely upon automated safety mechanisms, but it WOULD be nice to see how they perform in a safe environment. The first time my ABS system kicked in it confused (and shocked) the heck out of me and I took my foot off the brake - fortunately nothing was ahead of me at the time! It would have been nice to be aware of what the system felt like when it kicked in.
This is the bravest thing you’ve done Chris - good luck!!!
I can imaging the conversation:
Operator:"999 What's your emergency?"
Chris: "I commented on my wife's driving and gave her some constructive criticism"
Operator: "Please hold whilst I redirect your call to the local asylum...."
😂
3:19 I've got to agree about the horn buttons on newer cars - very hard to use properly - on older (pre-airbag) cars, you could give a light tap to the horn pad in suitable scenarios and get a very short (~0.10 sec), friendly toot, but now the minimum that can be managed is almost one second long, which sounds a lot more adversarial or chastising.
I would disagree, in my relatively new car I can achieve the horn you describe very easily, yet the other car I drive occasionally which is significantly older is so hard to press its impossible to get that short friendly toot. My old car, which was a similar age, was slightly easier to get the short toot but not as easy as the new one. I'd suggest it's more down to the make/model than just the age
Poor Mrs Martin, must of felt like she was redoing her driving test again hehe. ''would that had of stopped if I hadn't of done? Can I try it'' lol This was soo sweet and so funny. To show such a personal but lovely side of your life is really kind. Thank you Mrs & Mr Martin.
Happy wife happy life
LOL. That was funny. Great to see you both. Uses less fuel if you moderate your speed and glide to the lights, which costs you less at the pump, something tangible everyone can relate to.
my dad was a builder and i learned a lot about plastering and construction of houses, so now i naturally builder a room when i walk into it, which has got me into bother in the past as friends and family see me look about and say "stop buildering my house" as i see most flaws if any that others are happy to accept. its very similar to someone that knows how to drive and another thats at advanced level driving or even higher and that feeling judged lol
great video though.
I know what you mean lol I was a pawnbroker for a few years and my friends always assumed I was looking at their jewellery trying to see what was fake and what was real lol.
😅😅😅😅😅
You two are brilliant
This is great footage
@Chris Martin EMS
Fantastic
A truly pleasant change, Chris, from your usual "working" face on-screen. Greetings to you both from Australia 🇦🇺
If your wife was driving a BMW she wouldn't need to worry about indicators 🤣but really it was great to see you pass on your advanced knowledge!
Great video, Chris - interesting and you two have good comic timing!
I really enjoyed watching this. Incredibly brave to have your driving uploaded into the RUclips environment. I just love the way you guys interact. I don’t know if I’d be as brave and upload my driving lol 😂.
@Chris Martin EMS
IT DIDNT BEEP
Ah what the heck just use the tones! They’ll soon move!🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰
cant wait to see more of these !!
I salute you, Sir. No way would I be filming that! LOL!
Great fun. I want my next car to change gear using the TV remote control! 😂
Strangely compelling real life car share.. Love it
I like these clips. Please do more.
Nice to see the more important aspect of your life; thanks to you both for sharing.
You definitely look more relaxed when you're behind the wheel.
What does your wife normally drive in comparison ?
Your wife is great, I love her attitude and humour.
Brave woman to allow this to be posted.
I have an IAM Masters with Distinction but I switch off any judgement mode when my wife drives. Otherwise it would make her nervous. I totally get where your wife is coming from when driving with you.
Love the cars behind can see the number plate LED boxes; un marked car and 2 up.
“Better stay safe than sorry and stay back then”…… might be coppers
The reason why I have hi viz strip on my boot and told to by a local officer🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍😄
Alana and I love your content Chris but this is on another level of funny! 🤣 Looking forward to volume 2 whenever that shall be. 😁
- Scott
This was fun to watch! 😄
You can stop the start/stop lag if you release the brake pedal ever so slightly, the engine will fire up but it won't release the brakes.
brilliant guys! send the overtake to Ashley Neale to review🤣
More of this please, Chris, hilarious 🤣🤣
Haha I get this! My mum is a motorcyclist and as an instructor myself she always feels like being on test when out with me. 🤣
These make me laugh. Great fun to watch. 😅
Although I think she was in Lane 2 for too long, from about 2:26 onwards. 😂
That was fun to watch :) Have a great day you two.
I'm going to down shift it
no you're in first already
You should not have said that, see how long she sits in park revving the engine before she realises XD
I’ve found to get out of paddle mode if you go into post mode and then out (pulling the gear lever back) sorts it. I almost never go into manual.
Haha I can’t speak about driving when my wife is driving. It ends in an argument. She’s very safe but is also slow and would rather wait for a bigger gap than to go from one. She’s a safe driver but couldn’t ever drive efficiently or at speed. Which is fine, she drives the kids around and I’m happy if she drives how she feels safest. She knows I’m a fast driver, I drive for work and have to drive smoothly and consistently at the speed limit to make my times. Quite often I’ll move my work vehicle into manual to get it moving a bit quicker and then back into auto at 80kph or so.
This was a pretty interesting video. I would love videos of your day-to-day driving, I feel like it would have many learning points for viewers. I would definitely watch them to enhance my driving!
Loved this 😂
Love this, fantastic, keep them coming :)
Great, well done Mrs M for agreeing to that.
Regarding your "Yes" to the question at 5:38 , one of my advanced riding tutors was of the opposite opinion.
His reasoning was that changing lanes is a manoeuvre, and any manoeuvre carries some level of risk, so staying in lane two here would minimise risk.
By that argument you should complete entire journeys in Lane 1, even when the road has 5 or 6 lanes each way (sections of the M25 and M8 both do).
Highway code says on dual carriageways you must be in lane 1 unless overtaking or turning right
@@preloadedmalware Strictly, the requirement to remain in the left-hand lane unless overtaking is a "should" (i.e. guidance), rather than a "must" (law).
Whilst I'm not defending the aforementioned tutor's position on this, it is one of the many aspects of advanced riding and driving training which are at odds with the requirements of the UK driving test and the recommendations of Highway Code. I say "recommendations" because whilst trainees might be encouraged to interpret the "should" rules a little liberally, the "must" rules are sacrosanct.
@@weevilinabox very true, I overlooked that
I feel for your wife in this one. Even though I'm an advanced rider, there are some riders I ride with who I always feel nervous around because I feel they are judging me
The boss is at the wheel 😎
Thank you to both of you - both very brave.😂
Some habits are hard to break, even when sitting in the passenger seat 🤓
You're brave going out with your husband in the passenger seat lol
You two are sooooo funny together. 😂
Turning things up and they go down ….. yes fridges , belt holes ….
Just an idea, as you were asking what none 999 videos to do, perhaps something like Ashley Neal’s videos but from your perspective.
Lol no pressure.
damn you married Kate Winslet good on you man lol thxs for the video :)
Took me a minute to work out the title haha
Did she pass 😂😂
Is it a dsg or a torx converter?
Hi
+0:47 passing the truck - wifeys correct, I think - elongated lines. Moving out earlier not acceptable when off duty ;)
Please god she knows that you're filming ...and uploading 😬
*Fewer* accidents.
Both hands on the wheel at all time please, and a few more mirror checks? Just suggesting 😊.
