@@TheRealComicBookGamer I don't really know why I like it either. I think I like the anti-hero approach and that Batman is partly a big asshole and has a lot of fun with it. Unpopular Opinions:
Scott Snyder's Batman run is good but overrated.
    Final Crisis is terrible.
Batman Year One is more of a Commissioner Gordon story.
Superman is the greatest hero of all time.
Grant Morrison is a weird writer.
Wally West should be the main Flash.
    Dark Knights Metal is lame.
Doomsday Clock was a better sequel to Watchmen than the show.
Marvel hasn`t been good since the 1980`s.
    Batman should kill the Joker.

Unpopular Opinion: Batman Beyond is just as dark a future for Bruce as TDKR if not worse.
I mean, he ends up a broken lonely old man whose friends and family either died or abandoned him. He had to stop being Batman because he physically couldn't take it anymore and almost had to resort to shooting someone. Without Terry, even the Joker would have had a better legacy considering he has a street gang named after him while the Batman was almost forgotten and Wayne Enterprises was run by Blight and turned into Wayne-Powers.
I love the animated series and some of the Earth 12 comic continuations but it's not a definitive future for me. IMO something like Batman Incorporated but lasting past his life would be great.

While Batman Hush has it's issues, the story is a great exploration of the Batman Mythos. It explores the idea of Batman being happy incredibly well. I'd say it's in my top 10, maybe even top 5 Batman stories. In terms of hot takes(idk if this is one for sure): Tom King's Batman is beyond terrible almost the whole way through. I've read through the entire run 4 or 5 times and am currently working on a video series critiquing it and it's really rough. It has some gems like "cold days", "a better man" and even "Knightmares" to a certain extent, but overall, it's very poorly written.

-Kingdom Come is what injustice wanted to be
    - Injustice would've have been a better story if they didnt ruin WW character
    - DC/Marvel isnt running out of ideas , the people in charge are just hiring talentless hacks, instead of people who genuinely love and understand the characters
    - I dont mind DC giving Harley Quinn a redemption arc and turning her into an anti-hero, it just has to be written well
    - Injustice Harley is the best version of her redemption arc we are going to recieve
    - Batman shouldn't kill Joker, hes a vigilante detective, not an anti-hero
-Gotham City should put Joker on death row after the first time he escaped, if not the city than Jason Todd should be the one who kills him
    - I personally loved Doomsday Clock and thought it was great response to the originals story

    Unpopular Opinions for now:
Spider-Man PS4 is good but a bit overhyped cause of the story
Fandoms are toxic, overgeneralizing, and annoying
Dan Slott is a bit overhated, people hate him for saying Peter Parker is Spider-Man's greatest villain but Peter's whole theme is responsibility
    Free will is an illusion
Writers need to stop constantly rehashing the hero's archenemy: Spider-Man/Green Goblin, Batman/Joker, Superman/Luthor, X-Men/Magneto, Daredevil/Kingpin(and stop sidelining my man Bullseye), Flash/Eobard Thawne, etc. They need to be well deservingly killed off, or be put away for a good long time. Plus some of these villains like Norman Osborn and Kingping keep getting away with ruining the heroes life and its become a cliche at this point
Antiheroes should go after more worst of the worst and most evil and dangerous supervillains more often that really deserve it
Sometimes I miss venom as a villain, especially looking back at the cartoons.
Midnight Sons shouldve continued as an alternate storyline where they go after the worst of the worst.
Spider-Man should get an actual job
Antiheroes are a bit too overhyped these days
We need more Silver Age Reminiscient Comics that are upbeat, escapism, fun, entertaining, not super emotional, comforting like Darwyn Cooke's New Frontier and Mark Waid's Daredevil.
    Plenty of more unpopular opinions.

    • @LJSanto
      @LJSanto 4 года назад +1

TheRealComicBookGamer I do think Daniel Jones kinda sucks but the biggest thing they need right now is either an offensive line or a better defense. Saquon Barkley can’t even do anything because their o line is horrible, which causes him to get dump downs all the time because Jones can’t throw downfield, which caused him to get hurt last season and this one. Daniel Jones is under pressure every play. He is one of the worst quarterbacks if not the worst qb when he is under pressure. Also, their defense is atrocious and they let Andy dalton go right down the field in about a minute. Not to mention they let Nick Mullens kick butt the whole game at home without Jimmy G, George Kittle, or Raheem Mostart. When they played the 49ers. They were really similar so there's some unoriginality there. I think it's great too but I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece, I'd honestly agree that The Long Halloween is still his best work. * The Batman (2021) is overhyped as hell, looks mediocre at best
    * Lantern Corps needs to get cut down in size (what the hell is the difference between compassion and love? and isn't avarice was the fear of losing something)
    * 99% of Garth Ennis' stuff is just edgelord bait with "oooh, look, I ripped a guy in half for literally no reason but for shock value. Please buy it now"
    * If the MCU's characters were replaced but kept the same plot, most of them wouldn't have even broken even
    * Black Panther was at most 4/10
    * Bumblebee was a solid 2/10
    * Jason Todd's motivation is so stupid. It's either "Hey, you didn't kill the guy that killed me, even though you vowed never to kill, so I want to kill you instead." Or conversely, "Hey, you saw me get beaten to death and didn't check on me even though I had a crowbar sticking out of my forehead, how dare you?!"

My comic book unpopular opinions are as follows:
1.) Wonder Woman isn't that interesting of a character. None of her stories are memorable and her origin gets confusing with each writer. I also don't think she's as important as Batman and Superman.
2.) Barbara Gordon is easily the worst Batgirl. She's only well known because the Joker turned her into a cripple. And when she was Oracle, she came off as controlling and uptight to Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown. She should've stayed out of their stories. Also, don't think her and Dick are a good couple.
3.) Spider-Man has a better rogues gallery than Superman and Batman. Neither of them have gone through a "Kraven's Last Hunt" sort of story, and I think that's such a waste of potential for both of them.
4.) They need to put Geoff Johns or Peter Tomasi on Supergirl because DC doesn't know what the fuck to do with her. (Shit, I'll do it)
5.) Tim Drake is better than Dick Grayson.
6.) DC needs to stop putting Starfire on the Teen Titans. She's in her fucking 20's. Like, I get it. The cartoon was good, but if I wanted to see her on the Teen Titans, I'd read theolder stories.
7.) The X-Men should just stop focusing on "We're oppressed" stories and need to focus on being super heroes. It gets boring pretty fast.
8.) Ragman is such an underrated character.
9.) I thought Emerald Twilight was a good story.
10.) Character wise, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Simon Baz are the most uninteresting of the Human Green Lanterns
11.) Marvel needs to stop acting like Captain Marvel is their most important character. She isn't.
12.) Doomsday Clock is waaay better than the HBO Watchmen.
13.) Spectacular Spider-Man is the best interpretation of Spider-Man. Even better than the Rami films.
14.) DC needs to give Wally West his own book.
15.) Superheroes dating supervillians (Ex: Batman and Catwoman) is boring.
16.) Booster Gold needs his own book.
17.) Invincible is a better critique of Superheroes than The Boys.
18.) Garth Ennis isn't a good writer. His writing comes off as a 14-year-old who doesn't quite understand what depression is and thinks Leafyishere the peak of comedy.
19.) The whole "Women in refrigerators" "trope" isn't as bad as Gail Simone makes it out to be.
20.) Red Hood should've been with Artemis, not that flight attendant chick.
21.) Tom King's Omega Men is hella underrated.
22.) Green Arrow needs a new series.
23.) Watching paint dry is more fun than reading any Harley Quinn run.
24.) "WhAt iF SuPeRmAn wAs eViL" is such a lazy story idea.
25.) Gwen Stacy is a boring character. Her character seriously needs to fuck off.
26.) Miles Morales isn't a good character. He is nowhere near as relatable as Peter Parker.
27.) Marvel needs to scrap all of the Spider-Man adjacent characters (ie: Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Silk, etc.). They add anything to the Spider-Man mythos.
28.) They also need to get rid of this Web of Life and Destiny bullshit. It's unnecessary to add mysticism to Spider-Man.
29.) The Everyman character archetype shouldn't be abandoned by newer writers.
30.) The Snyder Cut doesn't look good.
31.) The Dark Knight (The movie) is extremely overrated.
32.) DC's Black Label should just rename itself back to Vertigo, because that's all it is.

Related to Marvel/DC, I don't buy any current series aside from Immortal Hulk, Batman, Detective Comics, and Flash, and I feel both universes need an overhaul that returns continuity to around 2011 or so. I also only buy collected editions and not floppies because floppies are very overpriced relative to the content they contain, and I only buy collected editions online at a discount and I cannot fathom why anyone would buy at an LCS. (I understand wanting to support the store but my support stops when books are full price when compared to 40% off online)
As one last aside I haven't been to one LCS that treats their collected editions with the care that is up to my standards and even with similar levels of care as compared to the floppy section. It's pretty disheartening.

1994 version of the Legion of Super-Heroes are the better versions of the team it was more diverse and dynamic, DC rebooting their universe countless times loses the core identity of the heroes, Black Wally West is a pointless and useless character also Damian Wayne is a meh character his story keeps fluctuating for me to actually connect with the character ironically I actually like their Teen Titans run, Harley Quinn isn't a superhero regardless of her changing sides and she isn't a part of the Batfamily, Batfamily should only consist of the main 4 robins Batgirl Alfred and Lucius Fox anyone outside of that are just associates, Duke Thomas isn't a or never was a robin just bc he was part of a group called We Are Robin, Jessica Cruz kinda feels like a Kyle Rayner Clone to me i dont no why, The current DC timeline is a mess, DC Metal events are just lame and cringe, When Blackest Night happened the shouldve revived all heroes who died prior to the event and show how some of them coped with resurrection and death, Hal Jordan's descent into madness males sense and is plausible, Barbara Gordon should've remained as Oracle, DC needs to stop milking Batman just cuz he's the most marketable and basic character to do so (I aint saying there isn't more to him but they seem to do the same thing over and over again), Tbh honest DC should just stop making Comics in general and just reprint old issues as graphic novels and do more of merchandising and more tv shows and video games cuz with the state of their books and their eventual reboot it seems comics are going to be stale AF, just bc a character is a minority doesn't mean they are inherently good or entertaining

    Unpopular opinions:
Batman is overrated and oversaturated. Yeah, this is pretty obvious. I think a key reason Marvel has become more popular than DC to a mainstream audience in recent years is because they've been giving their other characters ample exposure than just Spider-Man or the Hulk. I get that Batman is DC's cash cow and arguably more popular than Superman, but DC has so many other great heroes (not to mention many that have a more positive message than Batman himself) that feel like they've been overshadowed by Batman for too long. Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Shazam, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Metamorpho, Plastic Man, Red Tornado, Doom Patrol, etc. The list goes on. I know some of the aforementioned have gotten more mainstream exposure in recent years, but it's still nothing compared to most Marvel heroes. 20 years ago, mainstream audiences only really knew about Spider-Man, the Hulk, and the X-men. Now just about everyone knows who Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Falcon, Vision, Black Panther, Nick Fury, even the friggin' Guardians of the Galaxy are. I guess this really means DC needs a better cinematic team, but yeah. TL;DR I'm tired of Batman and even the Joker.
Toyman should be an Iron Man villain, even if it would move him from DC to Marvel. Yes, I know people say he feels more like a Batman villain, but I think he'd be more interesting as an Iron Man villain because he fits the common motif in his rogues gallery of former Stark employees stealing tech and using it for evil. Even though Tony often goes up against villains with advanced tech, Toyman's unconventional weapons would take him off guard. Idk, I just think he'd be more fitting to fight Shellhead.
Martian Manhunter shouldn't be as powerful as Superman. I know it's comics, but I can get pretty anal about scientific accuracy. Superman's powers kind of make sense because Krypton was significantly larger and denser than Earth and therefore his muscles are stronger, but J'onn is from Mars. You know, the wasteland next door. I can understand why Martians would have telepathy because oxygen is scarce there and you need oxygen to speak, but from an evolutionary standpoint, why would Martians have shapeshifting or density control? In fact, chances are they'd be physically weaker than the average human because the gravity is weaker there. I think DCU Martians should instead just have telepathy, strong resistance to cold weather (maybe have fur), able to hold their breathe longer, night vision, and maybe telekinesis. The weakness to fire i guess makes some sense since Mars is cold, but maybe it would just be better if they were weak to human germs.
Superman and other fast, but non-speedster characters shouldn't be immune to the laws of inertia, momentum, friction, etc. The Flash and other speedsters have the Speed Force, so they can bypass these laws that would normally kill them. Characters like Superman and Wonder Woman, however, are fast due to their physiology. And yet, I see certain versions of those characters able to stop at a dime, fly people through the air at speeds that should kill them, etc. Say what you want about Superman Returns, but I like the airplane scene because it shows Superman has to abide by certain laws of physics, as he can't just lift the entire plane over his head to stop it, but has to gradually slow it down. And when you think about it, Superman doesn't always have to be flying or running to get somewhere fast. It makes sense why he's resistant to friction because of his durability, but he could also just fly for a bit then stop flying and let momentum and inertia carry him the rest of the way (which, come to think of it, would probably save him solar energy). If we ever get the Superman game we've been hoping and dreaming for a while, I think this kind of stuff should be included in the physics engine.

    Marvel:
-Iron Man is the best Avenger in what they represent being the best and brightest heroes and rising to the challenge of ever dangerous threats
-X-men are the most boring Marvel team. Just take an Avengers story and add “being oppressed” and you have an X-men story
-Fantastic Four is the best Marvel team. Great interpersonal dynamics and most versatile rogues gallery. Also, Doom.
    DC:
-Superman Birthright is overrated. Reads like an alt cut of Smallville and Lenil F. Yu’s art doesn’t cut it for me. Way too much wasted space.
-DC need to set a limit for how large a super hero family should be. See Bat and Flash families for examples.

    - Totally agree with your take on TDKR. Thank God, someone agrees hahaha.

Doomsday Clock didn’t do justice to Watchmen’s legacy and didn’t add anything new to the lore and was dumb down to fit the type the storytelling of the Dc universe and the part that reveals that the world of Watchmen got nuked made no sense and Dr. Manhattan learning a lesson was very uncreative and unoriginal and the list just goes on & on

Broooo you're acting like Bruce Timm fucking haaated Lex, but in Justice League unlimited Timm gave him the Anti Life Equation and he defeated DARKSEID by outsmarting him, and trapping Darkseid away and you NEED to watch the episodes he has with Amazo

I like Year One better, but I really do think TDKR is great and probably one of the best still. I didn't grow up with it. The writing was great IMO. There was a sense of escalation that really made it epic and it innovated a lot of things with Batman and the Joker. It's an epic, triumphant tragedy. This also isn't supposed to be a definitive version of the characters, but even then this Batman isn't as crazy as All Star. The news reactions were kind of important IMO. I agree the art is pretty bad though and yeah I hate this version of Superman.

Unpopular opinion: the batfamily should only be the core members; Bruce, The main 4 robins, batgirl, and alfred

Unpopular (maybe, idk?) Opinion: The Term "Graphic Novel" is pretentious marketing bs that aims to legitimize comics to an indifferent audience.
Also, the Phoenix Force sucks. It's produced more headaches than compelling stories and was just a lazy way to bring Jean back for X-Factor and absolve her of her crimes.

My unpopular opinion is that secret empire is a very good story and most people just decided to not give it a chance from the beginning because of the "Captain America can't be bad"

Deviant_porg I had no problem with Cap being a nazi. It’s not even the first time it happened. However, I do think the pacing in Secret Empire is pretty bad. Tighten it up, and you have a classic on your hands.

Possible unpopular opinion: I think Dick Grayson was the best Batman. Dick was able to be Batman without being a paranoid jackass. He was actually happy and he was just as effective as Bruce during the Batman Reborn era of DC. He even took Damian in and made him Robin. He proved that Batman doesn’t have to be a dark, brooding, borderline emo. 😅

I love Clancy Brown but 90% of the writing for Lex in the DCAU is just "I AM ANGRY AT SUPERMAN BECAUSE HE WON'T LET ME DO EVIL THINGS" when in the comics it's a lot more complex than that.

Not a big fan a final crisis
That I feel the same way about Dark Knight.
DC's Black Label as way too many Batman titles

I agree about The Dark Knight Rises. I think its a very good book, but it is not the definitive Batman. I've always viewed it as an else world story. And I hate that its shaped so much Batman media over the past 30 years.
I respectfully disagree about DCAU Lex Luthor. Its my favorite version of the character. IMO I hate how in the comics Lex is always a business man and then Superman busts him as the first thing he does when he shows up. I enjoyed that it took 3 seasons of Superman and one season of Justice league to take down DCAU Lex.
Any good suggestions for Parasite stories? I think he's an interesting character but don't know many good books with him.

I loved Hush, but Jim Lee's interpretation of Joker is awful and turning Riddler into the Lucky Charms leprechaun was even worse.

Stephanie Brown is the best batgirl and Barbara is better as Oracle
Tim drake is the best Robin(I’ve always viewed Dick as nightwing)
Flash (specifically Wally) has the best rogues gallery
