Jason Aaron taking over Action Comics being a punishment for Superman fans for having it good too long sounds like the mentality of Marvel and DC in general 😭 I won't even list examples of this, you just know it's happened too many times, a fan gets a great writer for their favourite character and they feel like they're on top of the world, so seeing this, the publisher swiftly cancels that title and replaces it with the worst writer they can find.
Felt. I really don't like Aaron's writing lol
@@supercard9418 I enjoyed Aaron's Ghost Rider run, but even then, it was just a bit of fun and the art direction really carried it, Ketch and Blaze were totally out of character, and overall as a writer he's just not that good compared to a lot of the other writing talent present, (no offense to him whatsoever, I'm sure he's a solid guy, always important to remember that there's a person behind the story!) I don't know why Marvel just pushes him as if he's the messiah of the company
All the Thor stuff was great. Sorry you don’t like Aaron. I’ve been looking forward for reading Action now.
@@cardsfan5100 haven't read it so can't judge, but I hear his run is good, yes
@@cardsfan5100 outside of the God Butcher arc and Jane, Aaron has done nothing but damage Thor’s mythos. He retconned Thor’s lineage by making the Phoenix Force his mother *and* his lover (implied) (was eventually re-retconned by Cates); implied that Odin was abusive to his sons, which was pretty much never a thing beforehand; turned Odin into an incompetent alcoholic; turned Mjolnir into a sentient being used against its will (WTF); turned Thor into a whiny barbarian; regressed Loki from his character development in Journey Into Mystery and Agent of Asgard
Overall Aaron’s “deconstruction” of the Asgardian gods was basically “fuck the gods, they’re all incompetent assholes with no redeeming qualities” and he did not give them any further development to give them more depth, rather his entire run was filled with retcons and a consistent gods-hating theme which got old quick
Great best comics of 2023 man as for me my top 10 comics of 2023 are these
10. Batman/Superman World finest by mark waid
9. The incredible hulk by PKJ
8. Transformers by Daniel Warren Johnson
7. Shazam! by mark waid
6. Green lantern by Jeremy Adams
5.Jay garrick by Jeremy Adams
4. Superman by Joshua Williamson
3. Dceased war of the undead gods by Tom taylor
2. Action comics by PKJ and dan jugrans back up story with my boy Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy as his little 10 year old self going on another fun adventure with his family was freaking awesome and fantastic.
1. The flash by Jeremy Adams mostly because he brought back my favorite team the Super sons in his amazing series and just proves my point more and more I was right and DC should just stop and deage Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy as his little 10 year old self be with his best friend Damian wayne robin and going on fun more adventures at least in my opinion.
Don’t sleep on Jason Aaron. It could be great!
I hope so! I'm enjoying his Batman book tbh.
Discovered you through Thinking Critical. Really enjoy your videos and looking forward to more in the future.
Thanks for coming over!
Great video! This year has been pretty awesome for comics, like you I also discovered Jamal Campbell, I also have really enjoyed The Incredible Hulk as well as Tenement despite its slow start. Transformers has been awesome, so have Jay Garrick The Flash and Wesley Dodds Sandman.
I also read a ton of old stuff I loved like the 90s Starman and everything I could get my hands on by Brubaker and Phillips. Here’s hoping 2024 is even better and Happy New Year
Man I love your videos. The recommendations are always top notch.
Hope these ones get adapted in the future
