Another proof of casio transforming into a fashion brand. The GA 2100 is a very popular watch, now casio wants to make all of them the same. So if you want a good protrek, without all the Bluetooth crap, just buy a mudman, or a mudmaster.
@@yadongman If you live outside of the coverage of atomic clock towers, the multiband 6 receiver is not doing anything, and in this case Bluetooth can help.
Transforming into a fashion brand? Where the hell have you been for last 40 years? They've always been a fashion brand amongst everything else. They don't have to be just one thing grandad.
I wanted a pro trek for my small hands. As I don’t go out as much, this pro trek is a great fit for me. It’s comfortable, has some bells and whistles and looks gorgeous.
I have 9 inch wrists and the only protrek strap the never fit me at all was on a prg-3000. If your wrist is under 9 inches you should not have any problems plus all the modern protreks in the past 3-4 years use quick swap straps with "regular" watch lugs so you'll not need adapters to put on after market straps.
I have a preowned PRW6000Y and a preowned PRW 6900YL-5. I’m really looking forward to the PRW 6900YL-5, which, by the way, will be coming with an extra silicone strap. I agree with you, Jim; these aren’t ProTreks in my opinion since there’s no triple sensor.
Hi Jim! A thought crossed my little mind.. what if, rather than building in a barometer, altimeter, and compass, the watch (via bluetooth) utilizes your phone for those functions? Then, by turning the bezel on the watch those functions are selected via the buttons that are revealed, and the function selected (compass, for example) shows up on the digital display.. sound like a possibility?
8:20 Casio is the company behind G-Shock and ProTrek. The names G-Shock and ProTrek are brand names, they are not separate companies. That being said, this is a joke of a ProTrek. It looks like a Hybrid of the GA-B001 and GA-B2100 G-Shocks with ProTrek name plastered on it.
Not trying to be an ass but the ae-1500 actually rips off the prw-31 and even older protrecks with the round digital layout. The jdm versions prw-30/31 are very good watches I have two and I think I'm going to look into getting a combi bracelet for it. I did that for my prw-61 with the green face and its so much more comfortable to wear. Not that the silicon strap is in anyway bad, I just have large wrists. 😂😂 I'm also very tempted to get the titanium version of the prw-30 as well. Any protrek in titanium is beyond fantastic.
the price for these watches is about 120 US from sakura watches. So I think its priced about right without the triple sensor. Also I've taken all my protreks hunting, fishing and camping/hiking in northern Canada. I've never had any of them break or fail on me. Its got tough solar and the only difference I can really see over the Gshock is the 100m vs 200m wr. I don't go diving but Ive taken the watches swimming a boat tubing and never had an issue. A protrek might not be as "tough" as a Gshock but it wears thinner and lighter then one. Something I very much appreciate when its +34C in northern Manitoba and Im sweating my balls off getting eatn by mosquitos and horseflies. 😂😂 Lastly I cant recommend sakura watches enough. The shipping can be a little expensive but they have the best "retail" prices Ive ever seen on japanesse watches and lets face it the Japanesse save some of the best versions of the watches for the jdm market. so Skua is a great place to shop. Just remember when making claims to casio US that the watch was a gift. I swear I don't know where they bought it from. 😂😂
Maybe its the tea in Japan. That is definitely not a pro trek, I own two pro treks and that is something else. I don't like blue tooth anymore than green teeth.
what's missing? well, a good old independent time measuring device is missing... wait just a little bit more, maybe a ProTrek will be able to show you some e-mails while you sniffing in the bushes... would anyone explain to me why anyone in the world would like to buy that thing??? it's easier to buy a smartphone, plus a smartphone is doing more things is it? what a joke
Do you people not know how to modify things? If it doesn't have all yhe features you want, just add them on yourself. Consooooomer products are just a vessel to get you to your goal, they are not the goal itself!
Without the triple sensors, it's not for me.
The best thing about the Pro Trek line is the triple sensor. If it doesn’t have the triple sensor, it’s not a Pro Trek watch. That’s a pass for me.

Yes! The Mudman is more of a ProTrek than this.
Bluetooth is good right? To keep time accurate.

Did you get the regular band or the bungie cord one?

Nice! Let us know how you like the 6900. I’d like one buy they are way too expensive new.
@@JimKinkade I lucked out. I paid $167.00 on eBay. I could never afford MSRP
@@JimKinkade Awesome watch! Some will say it’s gimmicky. To each his own. Definitely wait for a price cut. I wouldn’t pay $500.00 for it.
I own the old PRT-B50-1ER.. and that is a Pro trek.. this new one doesn't seem like a pro trek to me but a shabby copy of the casiOAK GA2100 🤔🤔

You are absolutely right, casio is so big that they release watches that undermine their other watches like a snake eating it's tail.

That’s why they share the same fridge in the break room.

Did you have room in your budget for this model? I was thinking of the bungee cord one. Seems like a fun band.
I *just* bought the bungee cord one. Check back next week to see it.

Basically redesigned casioak😊Looks better imho. I own stealth casioak, hard to read in darkness.
The PRW3500 cost double man... this is a poor-man Protrek 🙂
Maybe its the tea in Japan. That is definitely not a pro trek, I own two pro treks and that is something else. I don't like blue tooth anymore than green teeth.
Great line! 😆 I’m quoting you in the next vid. Yea Bluetooth isn’t what I want to see on a ProTrek.

INDEPENDENT. That’s the word Casio doesn’t understand anymore.
This protrek is good in mall
I have reviewed A LOT of Pro Treks and this abomination is definitely NOT a Pro Trek. What the *uck was Casio thinking?
another new watch no one asked for.
All looks...Very little substance.
Pointless Really
