I don't believe it is terrible and I enjoy it, but I do agree that it is the lowest form of combat in Chivalry 2. I still believe incredible dueling prowess is something to be proud of.
Really good last videos, thanks man! I have a few questions which are really interesting for me: 1) how they spin so fast while aiming? 2) how they cancel bandage animation? Thanks!
You can't really spin fast since there's something called a turncap which limits your turning sensitivity, so I'm not sure what you mean there. As for the cancelling of the bandage animation, you can cancel it by using an ammo box.
It's cool to finally see a name for this technique, I've been using it religiously in duel servers and it's so strong. Almost thought I found it on my own lmao
I don't think it breaks the combat. It's simply just a gamble. I don't know what Gilgamesh has been doing, but this technique is pretty easy to beat once you understand it.
Hmm, okay, maybe it doesn't break the combat entirely, but my regular way of playing seems to go out the window. I've only managed to beat Gilgamesh once or twice when he fumbled some moves, which doesn't happen often.
Gilgamesh does a really similar thing but uses it to create spacing rather than break initiative. Once you miss an attack due to this, he just catches you on your recovery.
As sosn as i saw the technique it directly reminded of a certain Gilgamesh guy who i encountered several times on EU duel servers, his gameplay is pretty much entirely based on this technique paired with warclub ..
Windup after canceled dodge needs to be reduced by torn banner. Fully matured dodges should not apply this windup debuff, or have the debuff be reduced. Against players with over 20 ping this technique works almost everytime. Also why I presently disagree with your warclub rating in duels.
@@SoterDave The competitive meta is mostly non feinted and feinted accelerated counters so it makes sense that this technique/warclub doesn’t work in tournaments. However, this technique works against 95% of players in non competitive duel and even comp TO servers. Warclub is just the best weapon to apply to this technique which is why I say it is better at 1v1’s. In regular duels warclub is A tier. Comp Is B tier.
Rip man just discovered you , and it’s crazy cause I am a gamer I never watched any tutorials on this game I got this game day 1 PlayStation and I swear I been using these techniques since day 1
At the end on the text box you said "I would not remove block-cancelling dodges as a whole because they are very important to high level gameplay". I'm curious, what else are good for? Do you have videos discussing it?
I have no videos on the topic, but one very important reason for block-cancelling dodges is defense. If you are in the middle of a dodge and an attack is incoming, you would obviously want to cancel to a block to defend yourself, rather than just taking the free hit.
Didn't torn banner address using counters to bypass the riposte time in one of the recent patches? I swear I remember seeing something about that. Just for fun I used to go entire games by only spamming counter slash with longsword or messer just to show how insanely good it is. Had no idea it was technically seen as an exploit. Edit: I see you talked about this tactic at the end video "machine gunning". That's interesting. This dash gamble technique is definitely very similar to that. Torn banner will probably nerf it at some point. Thankfully I don't see it being very game breaking.
Chiv2 is slowly transforming into Mordhau with all those autistic exploit moves. No wonder there is never a single full 40p server anymore and average player level in games is now crazy high. RIP was fun while it lasted.
The only thing that gets me is the hardware limits. I can cheese someone no matter how good they are, but can’t do anything when my ping is 70 on servers in my region :/
@@SoterDave good for you but most people don't want to practice moves like those for 30-120min to compete and that's why player count plummets. It just feels cheap and unintended.
It's not even meta right now, it's actually fairly easy to defeat once you understand it, but that initial confusion and lack of understanding of what is happening is what makes it powerful.
It's technique? Nah. It's just a mix of: 1. A poorly implemented cancel mechanism 2. Heavily Ping-affected, unbalanced initial-gamble trade-off. People in this community call it's 'fun' or 'technique', enjoy spamming and competing? Welcome to modern zoo 😂
I agree with the second aspect of it being negatively affected by ping, but it's totally valid gameplay and I enjoy fighting against it. It also just isn't that powerful once you understand it, and that's probably why the majority of competitive players don't utilize it.
@SoterDave It's a bug at first place. This game has many bugs at 0.1st place. 🎉 You can weaken its value based on its competitive influence, because competitively spamming keyboard and mouse is much easier than strategically reacting like a real Medieval figher. 😂 The dodge canceling is just a ridiculous, hilarious annotation of how bad this game is. 😂
