Parakeets also love to bathe. You can add water bath using basins filled about an inch of water, or better yet just build a small waterfalls system inside the aviary with waters cascading to a shallow pool. They also love sand bathing, so adding sand as a substrate flooring of the aviary is also good.

The ostriches are eating the tree leaves so well~ They must be happy in an open environment because they are runners~ I was sad to see them from small boxes in the previous video, but I’m so glad now to see them adjusting to the new place well and becoming good family members~💞

Dexter, regarding the parakeets, cuttle bone is extremely important, also there is a special Grit for that size bird to aid with their digestion. And of course occasionally a little bit of vitamins in their water.

I am happy that you have two doors in your parakeet pen. I used to think to have two doors in my chicken pen . In this way unnecessary escapes will be prevented wben I enter the pen. I am happy to see that it is okay since you have done it. Also thanks for sharing your farm to us.

Hi Dexter.
New subscriber here. Regarding your parakeets, my mom used to breed them. She mentioned that there are 3 types of parakeets, the regular black eyes in green or blue colours, the red eyes in yellow and the more expensive type are the Harlequins which have multi colours. Do you have all 3 types? Also before they become fully adult, we would place all the “teenagers” in one aviary to observe which bird takes a liking to another and pair them. We the. Move them to individualized cages to avoid competition . Cuttle bone as one subscriber suggested helps tremendously. It is like a rawhide bone to a dog. Cleans the beak and provides calcium. Hope this helps
Also, your helpers need to clean the legs and beak of the birdies once hatched as the bird dung tends to cling to their feet and for sanitation and health purposes 👍🏼

Dexter, at 4:25 I noticed that one of your chicks, a very small one, was having a terrible time walking. Seems its left leg did not work right. I saw it when you were feeding the flock.

Hello Dexter. At 4:32 I noticed in another video too that you had trouble weighing the ostriches. A better idea would be to put the animal in a grain bag or something similar and strong, then get a different scale that you can hang the bag from. Animals will be more calm because they will feel like someone is holding them and they don't have to balance their body.
We have been watching you from USA for a long time since your farm was very small with only chickens. You have grown a lot with many animals. It is a good past time watching your videos. Keep the videos coming. Thanks!

hi, i used to watch your videos like 5-6 years ago, I used to watch the betta breeding videos, I live in Dubai and I have many animals just like you, also i have beehives and i get fresh honey every 2 months, so I suggest you to add beehives to your farm, because you will get fresh honey and bees will pollinate the fruit plants you have.

The ostrich don't like being messed with at all!
They are just not used to it. They are not in any real distress. It is better for their own well-being if they get used to allowing Dexter to examine them, in case they should get injured or sick in the future (hopefully not, but hope for the best and plan for the worst, as they say.)
@@juliemcgugan1244 yes, he defiantly should interact with them, no argument about that as they will get big and would not want them acting like that when they are full grown.
Was just making an observation about how they didn't like being messed with.
@@HallHomestead Understood, meant nothing towards you personally, just more as an add-on directed at people who don't have as much knowledge about raising animals, so they know why physical animal husbandry is important, both for physical and metal wellbeing of the animal in the long-term.
Would add, once the female ostrich is laying eggs and incubating, the male will become very protective, so take care please!
other than the food. I usually put some grits those are alternative for calcium and will help them with digestion.
I was really waiting for the cobb 500 chicks update , the future of breeding lies on this stag in 3:48. Hopefully we can see the result and maybe we can produce chicks out of them. These ostriches will rule the farm in no time.
