I love John Mayer songs comment sections. People seem to genuinely care about him, but not in an angry way like with some fandoms. There is a genuine camaraderie here. People open up and relate to one another. I know this happens elsewhere in youtube comments but there is something about John Mayer songs and john mayer fans. It is really fun to be apart of this gently aging fandom of people who love music and who love john. So thank you.

One of if not the greatest artists of our time. Hands down. So underrated it's unreal. I'll always hold his songs near my heart. Got me through the worst times of my life. Honestly my own shadow days are over now.
the media and the press always find ways to bash his image. he is just like any creative, honest and blunt opinionated person. only difference was that he was in the camera all the time and never had privacy. everything he said was magnified and exaggerated. yes he was an ego addict, but that is all common when you are have someone who is extremely talented and attractive in the eyes of the public. it was only a matter of time before the media took advantage of that and made the people believe ridiculous things, which took a toll on his mental health as he let it get to him. just like any person john has experienced a shit load of pain and unnecessary comments , but he is just as human as the guy you called an asshole because he was proud of how he could play the piano. we have to stop thinking that when a person knows what they are skilled in, that does not make them a bad person.
I think that they do that because he doesn't play to their games. He seems to really just be his own person good or bad.

The album Born and Raised just grows up on you, I didn't like Born and Raised when I first heard it TBH but now after listening to the album 2-3 times, I can't get enough of it! Honestly a very underrated album.

This song was my mantra as I was coming out the other side
of some of the worst times in my life. It's like a rebirth, and it feels that
way every time I hear it. It's that glimmer of hope that you gain after you
take those first few steps toward redemption with your heart still in your
stomach. Thoroughly grateful for this song.
It´s hard to let things go and move on. But one day you have to believe again and take a first step and hope that beginning will lead to resolving. It´s better than doing nothing. Losing yourself is not worth it .
Born and Raised was that unassuming album which ended up as a behemoth with old man strength, really an accomplishment lyrically and musically.

John Mayer's older music never struck me but this one!! It's really super super good. It's right up there with Dylan and Neil Young. Heartfelt, simple...beautiful - go John you've re-invented yourself and it's a gift, go with it Bro. The world is getting ill from digital fatigue and organic acoustic music is a wonderful cure.
Since you have opened yourself to the idea that he is talented and not the brat the media tried to paint him to be; I think you should go back and register to his old music. I think you will be more open to how skillfully John Mayer pens his lyrics.

He is not underrated by any means, but he is just not popular as many other "hit-makers" simply because his music and lyrics are complex. In my opinion, he is an incredibly clever lyricist and an amazing songwriter. People may or may not like him but they definitely can not (and most of them will not) deny his incredible talent.

I use to live with my mom n she will get me mad I’ll be in the room listening to this song on repeat n wishing I can just run away from Africa to America live my life in a country town. 2012/13.... This song reminds me of a time when I lived with my late sister... she helped me in the process of ending my love relationship... there were a few nights crying and she came out of her room to welcome me... It helped me a lot!
Today I'm with my wife, but now I miss my sister who helped me so much... I sometimes cry for her... I lost her to cancer... I hope spiritually to find her again! I love her so much and I only ask God to see her again one day. Gratitude.

Thanks John for saying these things in you music/songs that I didn’t know how to say all this time. I’m just a nobody 45 year old husband and father who is trying to keep it all together all the time for those who I love. I won’t ever stop being a better me but it’s really exhausting sometimes. I’m not complaining just being honest. To be able to sit for a minute and hear a song(s) that describes how you are feeling and get that much needed release for the small moment in time that someone else knows how it feels is truly a great gift. I don't know what it is about this album, but I got it in the Winter. And for some reason, I can only listen to it in the Winter - and it feels so magical, especially when I get up early and driving down the motorway as the sun is still rising. It feels so special and I get that warm feeling even though it's so cold.
Every winter I get my john mayer kick. Christmas time is always john. I grew up living this music. Everyday. But winter is the time to vibe. Clarity. John is incredible. His music is perfect.

This song/album came out at a really hard time in my life where I had to make some tough choices. Fast forward 8 years and my life is better than I could have ever hoped for.
