  • Another long hiatus after a second crazy barrage of MegaMan music in two years, and it's already time to end the year. Man, I need to find more time to make other content.
Anyways, we're closing out 2023 with a playthrough of what is currently the only official port of Daytona USA 2: the one present in the recently-released Like a Dragon Gaiden, renamed Sega Racing Classic 2 for licensing reasons. In 2021, I featured Daytona USA 2 Power Edition emulated through Supermodel, now we've got Sega's first effort at porting the game, and unlike that playthrough of Daytona USA 2 Power Edition, there will be more variety with the car selection as I will race the tracks as follows:
    -Beginner: Phantom
    -Advanced: Scorpio
    -Expert: JC Eagle
    -Challenge: Hornet
Played on my PlayStation 5 (CFI-1115A) and captured at 720p SDR since, although Like a Dragon Gaiden supports HDR, Daytona USA 2 predates HDR by quite a few years, and 720p with soft upscaling to 4K helps mask the, frankly, quite ugly CRT mask filter (on top of looking amazing on an HD CRT, which is the screen type I used to play the game, and fully hides the filter).

Hey Ace, i came across a response of yours to someone about the sega genesis model 1 motherboard and sound quality.
Is there a way to identify a V3 motherboard in the high definition graphics unit via serial number and fcc code?
My understanding is that the fcc code had to be the extended version and the serial number had to indicate that the unit was produced in 1989. That this identified a V3 motherboard. Not sure anymore though. Is it true? I almost bought a v2 the other day but i know the v3 is preferred. I know V3 started in 89, went to 91. That if it has a serial number ending in 9 or 0 and extended fcc code theres a chance its a v3. More likely with the 0.
Anything you can add would be helpful. Otherwise im driving to people and unscrewing their consoles before i buy them lol
