My dad grew up about 100 miles from where they built Big Buds. He still has some cool photos from the factory tours they took when he was a kid.

@ John David It has to do with weight transfer and the geometry of the rear frame and suspension going down the track. Notice how when there is no load on the truck it almost looks raked. You can really see it in the footage when they are pulling how the frame is almost level, and the front end is just a little bit off the ground with the driver side being lifted more from the torque.

Yeah not quite sure where that came from, big bud was a somewhat mass produced tractor, welker farms gets heavy into them., there is also another center articulating tractor that is almost the same, the manufacturer name is escaping me right now, I think he MAY have restored it at home??
@@ryanhogan6509 Its the only articulating tractor built with a skid system to slide the engine and transmission out the front for repairs,and adjustable mounting brackets to adapt to multiple engine and transmission choices without modification. Designed to be rebuilt with modern components which is what Big Equipment Co has been doing since they stopped building new ones in 1991. Now resuming building new tractors.

He’s a master on caterpillar tuning and mechanical, and does one hell of a job keeping Ryan’s pulling truck going! Maybe you were able to collaborate when you met with him at the show.

Big Bud tractors are being built in Cedartown Ga now with a big Cat 650 hp to over 750 hp

And indoors pulls always remember run 20/25% extra fuel for the less air you truck can breath indoors kills more trucks than I’ve ever seen never a pull there won’t be a blown truck to running lean due to not enough air at least have fuel to keep it cool seeing we know you won’t have the air flow needed

That’s a series 1 big bud the first line up the first big buds. I think they were factory produced, a homemade one is the legendary WORLDS LARGEST TRACTOR, the 70s, Big Bud 747 with like 1100HP 16 cylinder Detroit 2 stroke Diesel 16V92 that was homemade by brothers (forget their last name) on a farm in Montana i believe
The 16V747 was bulit in the Big Bud factory, it was originally built in 1977 for a large cotton farm in California. It was later sold to a farm in Florida then later purchased by the Williams Bros and brought back to Montana where it was restored and put to work on their farm for a number of years. The HN 250s were the smallest model, 63 were built.

I was doing some more thinking about it also, being the 747 looks like other big buds I said to myself “that’s not a homemade tractor” 😆 thank you for correcting me. I never knew it was sold to a Florida farmers THEN went all the way to Montana to the Williams brothers. I gotta look at its history again lol been a bit. All I really remember was that brothers had the tractor for some time. Yes the 250s were the smallest and the first buds produced. They came before the big 747 in the early 70s
@@JacksonGuitarsPlayer03Williams bought it in 1997 and used it until about 2012. Then it was at the Heartland Museum in Clarion Iowa for 10 years, now its back in Montana. The book Big Bud The Worlds Largest Tractor can be found on line. The Williams are currently out of stock with it .Lots of history and photos briefly telling the story of the 747 and the Big Bud company.
