True! I was 15 yrs old. It was an amazing experience growing up at that age going to the theater for every big movie at the time. Early 2000's films Def have their own style. Episode III really holds up to standards, dare I say, even surpasses some of the cgi in films released in the last 20 years. I wish we got a VHS release to finish the saga on that medium.
I'm trailing on. Basically the prequels had a huge impact on my childhood/ teenage years. Seeing each film in theaters opening week. After already having watched the original trilogy basically from birth. It might as well have shaped my whole childhood.
Glad you enjoyed this as much as you did. Was such a treat. 😊

Was 17 in 2005 in the theater. They do early shows now the day before , but at the time, you had to literally wait until Midnight for the first showing. In my sold out show, when Obi-Wan is shown at the top of the ramp of Padme's ship, someone yelled out "Kick His Fucking ass Obi-Wan!" and the auditorium roared with applause. You couldnt reserve specific seats at the time. I offered $100 to a guy for his prime seat in the theater and he rejected. I presented five $20 bills in his face and he said no.

When Obi-Wan utters that “So uncivilized” line about the blaster weapon, it’s an allusion to his statement in the very first movie to Luke, about how a light saber was unlike a blaster: “An elegant weapon for more civilized age.”

    • @RichardM1366
      @RichardM1366 4 месяца назад

It was civilized because it would cut the hand off. Jedi's were forbidden to kill because it was a pathway to the dark side. A blaster is clumsy and random.

Also notice how at the end when Anakin is being brought out on a stretcher and it’s raining, palpatine doesn’t even give him a cover and is not in a hurry to get inside. This man wants Anakin to hurt as much as possible. I hate Palpatine so much.

Order 66 was programmed as a code to turn against the Jedi from when they were grown and trained on Kamino by the cloner. Palpatine counted on them picking up the army and them building their trust with the staged Clone War which would extend his control of the Senate until he would reveal his hand.

*Revenge Of The Sith is my absolute favorite out of the prequels. The double climactic lightsaber duel that takes place toward the end of the movie, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader VS Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar and Yoda VS Emperor Palpatine on Coruscant in the Senate chamber are top-notch across the board. Musical score, fight choreography, visual effects, audio effects and emotional impact. I give them all an A+.*

The Jedi Order fell because they didn't fully understand the dark side of the force. They thought the dark side was a seductive perversion of the force that must be avoided at all costs. The "seductive" part of that assessment was quite correct, but the dark side is necessary for the force to sustain itself. It's the essence of something being wrong or out of place. Had Anakin known the true nature of the dark side, he would have realized there was no road within the dark side to save his wife and Palpatine's manipulations would have failed.

1:45 - You ask a question that I am prepared to answer. You see, in 2003, my then fiance' was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. She fought it for 3 years, but would lose the battle in Aug of 2006, just 11 days after we were officially married. But yes, I would have done anything to save her life. Unless you've had to deal with something like that, you can't imagine the depths of desperation you would go to in order to save the life of someone you love more than life itself. The best I could do was hold her hand as she took her last breath. Her dying, with me feeling so helpless.... it broke me. It broke me in ways I can't even put into words.
If it wasn't for the love and support of family and friends (who are pretty much family I'm not blood related to), I would have been dead years ago. But they helped me to learn to cope with the "new normal" after she died. It's not something you "get passed", you simply learn to accept it, and continue living as best you can. I have since remarried, but I will never forget my first wife, nor "get over" the day I lost her.
Also, the Clones do NOT become Stormtroopers. Minor spoiler here, but Stormtroopers are volunteers and conscripts that replace the Clone army. With the galaxy going through the transition from the Republic to the Empire, plus the ravages of the war that's been going on for the last 3+ years.... jobs are hard to come by in many systems. Which is why a lot of people volunteered for Imperial service. It meant a steady paycheck, a place to lay their head, and food in their belly.
I recommend watching the Clone Wars animated show, as you'll learn a lot about the Clones themselves, their dedication to the Jedi (until Order 66), as well as a lot of details about the Jedi Order itself. As the Clone Wars ends, The Bad Batch series takes over, which shows a bit of how the galaxy transitions into the Empire.
I suggest watching everything in chronological order, at this point. You'll understand a lot of the subtle things going on. Try to forget what you know about future events, and just go along with the shows as they come.
The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Andor, Rebels, Rogue One, Episodes IV, V, VI, The Mandalorian (seasons 1 and 2), The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian (season 3), Ahsoka, Episodes VII, VIII, IX. Also, Tales of the Jedi should be worked in there somewhere, but it's all Prequel era stories, except for the final episode. So, for that, I'd wait until you're about to start Rebels to watch that.
Don't discount the animated series'... they contain a LOT of lore, and good stories. Things you'll need to understand what's going on in the live action stuff.
13:00 - In "A New Hope", the novel tells us that Chewbacca is 200 years old. So, in this movie, he's about 180 years old, and 190 in the Solo movie. Wookies have a typical life span of about 400 years. A bit under Yoda's species that can live to 900 (as Yoda did). Also, I heard you mention The Mandalorian.... so I'm guessing you've seen it already. Fun fact you may or may not have pieced together yet: "Baby Yoda" (or "The Child" as he was initially called) is the same age as Anakin Skywalker. Let that sink in.
13:30 - Notice the order Anakin lists his loyalties.... "My loyalties lie with the Chancellor, with the Senate, and with You." Padme was last on that list....
15:50 - Remember that line.... and consider where the US is right now.....
16:10 - We don't have an exact number of Jedi who survived Order 66..... but it's very few. Minor spoiler: Some who survived would fall to the Dark Side, and help the Empire hunt down those who didn't fall to the Dark Side. Before Order 66, there were about 10,000 Jedi in the galaxy. After it..... way less than 100.
16:45 - Yeah, about that.... again, MINOR spoiler... but a few of the Jedi (Obi-Wan included) suspected that Anakin had a relationship with Padme, I mean, it's not like they hid it very well (again, watch the Clone Wars animated series).... but they didn't have confirmation of it, and those who DID suspect it, had hoped that Padme would "ground" Anakin, and keep him from falling to the Dark Side. But you're right.... their hubris is what blinded them.
20:40 - The thing about the Tuskins, is that most "civilized" people consider them to be very animal like. Much like we see in our society today, they are considered "less than human".... which makes it easy to dismiss slaughtering them. Especially since they caused the death of Anakin's mother. As much as these movies are entertainment, they are also a warning about labeling people as "lesser beings", thus justifying barbaric (and even savage or inhuman) treatment of them. If you've watched The Mandalorian, you'll notice that Din Djarin treated them like equals, and communicated with them as such. He gave them respect, thus they gave him respect. The same can be said for Boba Fett.
22:00 - The thing is, Anakin just assumed that Padme knew Obi-Wan was on the ship. Even though she was shocked by him being there, Anakin didn't even question it. He simply accused her of bringing Obi-Wan there to kill him.
23:05 - About that.... Once Anakin/Vader had been defeated (in this duel), Sidious saved him, but put him in a "sub-standard" suit that was susceptible to Force Lightning. That Vader NEEDED that suit to even live, meant that he was a permanent slave to Sidious. It wasn't until Vader had been defeated on the second Death Star, and Sidious was distracted by Luke.... that Vader could over-throw him (or, throw him over.... the railing into the depths of the Death Star). But at the point, Anakin had returned to the Light Side, and redeemed himself by fulfilling the "Chosen One" prophecy, and destroy the Sith (defeating the Dark Side within himself, AND killing Palpatine). So, you see, Anakin WAS the Chosen One in the prophecy, just not in the way the Jedi thought it would happen.

3:14 It's because Luke is the son of the most powerful wielders of the force ever..After "Return of the Jedi" he trained even harder. 36:38..They had to--They'd put out twice the "Force Vibes" if they stayed together, and no doubt Vader or one of his Sith minions would have sensed them sooner or later. It'll take a 2nd battle with Vader 10 years later for Obi-Wan to lose his guilt over him. ( Disney's 6-part Obi-Wan Kenobi Series)

For me, the Jedi council (including Windu), pushed A LOT Anakin to the dark side. They´re afraid of him, never truly trusted him, never gave him any serious mission... and mixed with Anakin fears (mostly for Padme) and feeling himself always excluded... the final step was all the Emperor´s manipulation during years but... the Jedi Council had big part of responsibility in this disaster. Anakin tried and tried to follow the right path but all these things became him in Darth Vader.

  • @LordVolkov

The deepest core motivator of Anakin is fear.
Fear of loss (his mother, his wife, his son), fear of ridicule by the council, fear of Obi-Wan being better than him (3&4), fear of the Emperor killing him (post-suit).
Anakin never made it past the first step of the dark side (he sometimes dips into anger and causes suffering, but they don't drive him).
It's even seeded into the OT - Vader enters Leia's ship AFTER sacrificing stormtroopers to neutralize rebels with blasters and helmets...
He does it again in Echo Base 🥶
He never faces any rebel fighters head-on at Yavin, only shooting them from behind, but is very surprised when someone sneaks up on him 😅
On Bespin, the moment Luke shows his prowess, Vader starts throwing things and even turns off his life support to ambush Luke 🤣🤣🤣
Anakin will always be that scared little boy, standing in front of the council being judged.

A suggestion of something not many people do: watch the deleted scenes!
Both episodes 2 and 3 were filmed as about 3 1/2 to 4 hour movies. A lot of backstory, characterization, subplots, etc got cut. For episode 2, the romance is a lot more natural with the deleted scenes due to more build up and less clunky dialogue, whereas episode 3 has an entire padme subplot that was mostly cut (the only thing left in the film is the "anakin, have you ever thought we may be on the wrong side?" Scene).
Some of the more completed scenes are on youtube in deleted scenes compilations. It might be worth a reaction.

a few quick comments: the Jedi couldn't see anything coming: the Sith used an ancient cloaking power from the dark side to hide their identity. The only way to go through this shield is by using powers from the dark side, which the jedi can't do. The clones were paid by the sith, and built according to their instructions: total obedience for their jedi commanders, but a chip was implanted in their brains to obey a certain order (66) from the chancellor only. That's where clone troopers became Storm Troopers. Now that you watched all 6 movies, I can give you 2 links for you to watch only (I don't ask for a reaction). Just for your own knowledge. 1-The entire storyline from the start (millions of years before Yoda): ruclips.net/video/E9QyKl6dgA4/видео.html (you have a timer in the cirner with years (BBY=before the battle of Yavin, and ABY=after Battle of Yavin. Battle of Yavin=when Luke destroys the first death star in episode 4). 2-a fan made joke about the Emporor looking for a job after losing his emperor job--funny if you remember some quotes from the movie: ruclips.net/video/aKWVCv8uWDI/видео.html About Grievous: he's a cyborg (droid with human parts--see the movie Robocop for an example of this). There is a really good book: Star Wars: Dark Lord - The Rise of Darth Vader from 2006.
The book picks up it's events just a few months after the events of Ep. 3 and shows how Darth Vader not only has considerable problems with his new body and also has doubts about his master.
"Look at the two of us. Do we look like winners?" - Darth Vader to The Emperor.
Word of the events that created him-the Jedi Council’s failed mutiny against Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, the self-crowned Emperor’s retaliatory command to exterminate the Jedi Order, and Anakin’s massacre of his comrades and Masters in the Jedi Temple-has yet to reach all quarters. On the Outer Rim world of Murkhana, Jedi Masters Roan Shryne and Bol Chatak and Padawan Olee Starstone are leading a charge on a Separatist stronghold, unaware that the tide, red with Jedi blood, has turned suddenly against them.
When the three narrowly elude execution-and become the desperate prey in a hunt across space-it’s neither clone soldiers, nor the newly deployed stormtroopers, nor even the wrath of the power-hungry Emperor himself they must fear most. The deadliest threat rests in the hideously swift and lethal crimson lightsaber of Darth Vader-behind whose brooding mask lies a shattered heart, a poisoned soul, and a cunning, twisted mind hell-bent on vengeance.
For the handful of scattered Jedi, survival is imperative if the light side of the Force is to be protected and the galaxy somehow, someday reclaimed.

(The Kaleesh themselves were at war with another neighbouring species called the Yam'rii that would raid Kalee for resources and would take Kaleesh as slaves etc.) Qymaen jai Sheelal rose to meet the oppressive situation that was plaguing his planet ... (alongside another Kaleesh who he likely was romantically tied to... she unfortunately lost her life in the fighting and so.. he adopted the name "Grevious." His hatred for the Jedi and the Republic was cemented during the "Huk/Yam'rii" war... when he appealed to both the jedi council for assistance in stopping the conflict.... Yet the judgment by both the Jedi and the senate (which swiftly involved itself in the matter.) deemed that the Kaleesh had started the conflict (as they belived the Yam'rii's false claims.) and imposed heavy sanctions and consequences against the Kaleesh for such aggression etc. This lead to famine, starvation, loss of Kalee's economic balance... In short? Horrible... He then had no choice but to join the intergalactic banking clan... until he found out that the Yam'rii were unpunished for their crimes against his people during the war... and furthermore? they did not face any consequences for desiccating Kaleesh burial grounds by the Republic.. Furious with this?? Grevious went to reinitiate the war against the Yam'rii... But en route in doing so? His shuttle.. was shot down by a bomb placed by Banking Clan and its Separatist allies... He survived.. but he was re built as an enhanced cyborg and trained to wield lightsabres. He used his droid armies to wipe out the Yam'rii... yet his hatred for the Republic and the Jedi... remained.
I would recommend watching the 2008 Clone wars series. It dives into Grevious' back story and expands on his behaviour etc. He is one of my favourite characters in the Star Wars Universe. :) In regards to the clones and order 66?? The same series humanizes them on an emotional level. Well worth the watch.

Please don't let anyone discourage you from watching the sequel trilogy. Just like the other two trilogies, they have flaws, but are still entertaining and still Star Wars. I grew up in the '90s and am a whole-hearted OT person even though I am of the age where I should have been a prequel-lover, and I still very much enjoy the sequels. George Lucas wrote both Ep.1 and Ep.2 so it’s not really fair to say he can’t write dialogue. In fact, he had a co-writer on Ep.2 so if anything, it’s more accurate to say he’s a better writer when he’s on his own.
But I don’t even really think it was the dialogue that was what most people objected to. I think what they really didn’t like was that Anakin was a moody teenager when what they really wanted to see was full on dark side Anakin. I think it especially rubbed younger males the wrong way, because they saw more of themselves in that characterization than they wanted to admit. We often identify with main characters, so when we feel like we want to be all powerful and bad ass, it can be a bit of a kick in the nuts when we are meant to identify with someone who is immature and awkward. When you think about it, the dialogue in Ep.2 is perfectly in line with that of an overdramatic teenager with no experience with the opposite sex.

Exactly. Sidious DID know how to keep "the ones he cared about, from dying"... but the caveat is that it requires draining the life force from someone else to do so. That's the secret he kept from Anakin, because he knew that Anakin would rather die than to have Padme die to save himself.
Also, during Padme's funeral, she still appeared pregnant, so that Anakin/Vader and Sidious would believe that she died before giving birth. This would keep them from searching for the child (and somehow, no one knew she was having twins until she was giving birth on Polus Massa) until they learned of Luke's existence after Episode IV.

Andor is my favorite Star Wars product, I think it's the best thing to ever come of the franchise, an absolute masterclass of modern, high quality television - but I think you will really appreciate Obi-Wan, at least for the closure it brings for certain characters. It's not perfect, as it was clearly a 2-3 hour film plot that got needlessly stretched into a 6 part series, but what's good is very enjoyable and I would argue essential viewing for any fan of these films and characters.

Excellent reaction, Shree! I would rate this one second next to ‘Empire’, which I thought was the best of the original Star Wars trilogy . Perhaps these two were much darker in nature than the others.
You knew Anakin would become disfigured but how would it happen? That’s what piqued my interest and that epic lightsaber battle was the best out of all the movies. I agree that Hayden Christensen did a phenomenal job acting. Lucas is not a great dialogue writer and that was a disservice to Christensen.
Anakin’s punishment for atrocities he committed prior to being disfigured was having to walk and breathe in a respirator for the rest of his life. Despite what power he craved, he was still subservient to Palpatine. God knows what daily pain he had to endure every day without being able to breathe properly and being roasted alive.

Episode III has a number of deleted scnes about Padmé going about her business as usual. They were cut for movie rythm. Padmé begins to suspect Palpatine of being power hungry (and during the Clone Wars CGI series she was still a supporter of peace, trying to legally end the war multiple times). In the movie, there is a scene in Palps' office where Padmé, Bail Organa, Mon Mothma (seen in Return of the Jedi) and a few others urge the chancellor of letting go his "special status" but he clearly throws a shade at her that she notices. From that moment on, she doesn't trust him anymore. She even was approached by Bail Organa who was petitionning with a several other senators to remove Palpatine from office for good, of course none suspected him of being a Sith. Had Padmé survived, she would have joined the Rebellion, no doubt about it.
Those deleted scenes can be found on YT and despite the editing imbalance they bring to the movie, they are still very interesting to watch. In the office scene, Anakin stands beside Palpatine like Vader will alongside the Emperor.
Good thing you went to watch Dune movies in the theatres, those are made to be seen that way !
About "Dummy-Wan", he suspected very early on that Anakin was into Padmé. In Episode II he saw his apprentice feelings quite clearly. He chose to turn a blind eye because he thought Anakin was kept in check that way. Oh and his fellow Clone troopers knew as well apparently as they painted her as a bomber bimbo on their gunships to bring them fortune during their missions !!!
Jedi don't use the Force too much in the movies because it costs a lot in special effects... That's a problem in Harry Potter magical duels as well.
In cartoons and CGI shows; the Jedi are displayed generally more powerful. (The 2003 Clone Wars Micro Series will show you VERY powerful Jedi using the Force, almost totally OP, even, despite that, Grievous runs over them like they are nothing like a Terminator)

I despise people who just accuse "us" of hate watching the prequels.
17:37 What they did to Padmé in Episode III is just infuriating.
She should have died fighting and protecting her already 5-year old twins.
    But George Lucas didn't care.
Everytime I watch the finale act of this overacted conclusion - I get more annoyed by watching such an action slugde festival.
    With barely any character left.
    Why does Anakin despise Obi-Wan?
Why does Padmé beg Ani - that completely contradicts their dynamics through Episode II?!
Why is Prequel Yoda as helpful as a Neanderthal?
Anakin ask for help yet Yoda just gives him the worst advice ever.
Where there no other Jedi left to spy on the chancellor?
Why does Anakin call the Jedi evil?!
I wanna help people and save my wife (kids) from certain death.
Sadly I end on an opposite path instead. Never let '00 Lucas write dialogue again.
That's not a tragedy - that's just Anakin following his friend Palpatine... instead of his brother Obi-Wan.
Such a poorly crafted backstory for Darth Vader & the first Blockbuster franchise (green light for Terminator, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Marvel & Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies).
Well, instead after Operation Knightfall he is deleusional enough where I even turn against my entire "family" (Padmé is pregnant...she still is able to run & hug incredible fast🤔).
    Yikes!
Obi-Wan then leaves his former friend burning to death.
At least release him from his torment...
What kind of Jedi are these?
For example every Jedi draw their lightsabers before the Sith students/Assassin's attack regularly?!
Episode V Yoda: "A Jedi uses his knowledge for defense; never for attack."
Well, the will of the Force or whatever decided that for Kenobi & let Vader life. Darth Vader than goes on to die on-another day (glad that the OT story still exists - it's fantastic)

Han saved Chewies life so Chewie vowed a life debt to Han, which he extended to Luke and Leia. I saw this opening night and the theatre went nuts when the youngling (played by Jett Lucas) appeared to defend Senator Organa.

In my opinion, the only good movie/show post Disney acquisition of Star Wars is The Mandolorian. Andor sucks, Obie sucks, Boba sucks, 7,8, & 9 suck.

What I don't like about Princess Leia she got the Royal Treatment and not Luke she wasn't even the first born that's why Luke was my favorite over her call me crazy but I think Obi-Wan Kenobi had a secret thing for Padme the way he was rubbing on her face when she was going into labor after all he was only 3 years older than she was Obi Wan Kenobi never did like Anakin if you remember in episode 1 when Anakin was little Obi-Wan Kenobi's master I got attacked by The Sith Lord student cuarto toad Obi-Wan to fix the ship with the new converter part and Obi Wan said why do I have the feeling that we going to have a new pathetic life he called Anakin pathetic way before he became evil so there you have it I never really liked Obi-Wan until he got old
