Family First Launch

Family always comes first. That’s why we’ve launched the Family First movement, aimed at emphasising and celebrating the importance of family. To mark the launch, we held a special event at GEMS World Academy - Dubai attended by a host of VIP guests and over 500 family members - young and old - from across GEMS. Among the event’s many speakers, all of whom highlighted the positive influence of family bonds, were HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, HE Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of Dubai’s Community Development Authority, Mr Sunny Varkey, GEMS Education’s Founder, as well as former BBC news presenter Kate Silverton. Not just that, but legendary musician Nile Rodgers, who co-founded the We are Family Foundation, also shared an uplifting video message encouraging viewers to do good in the world. Having kicked off Family First in style, we couldn’t be more excited about what this inspiring movement has in store - not just for GEMS families, but for all families everywhere. As Nile Rodgers famously put it in one of the many hit songs he wrote, ‘We are family!’
