I want to thank you for doing these videos. I learned a lot from watching them. I did my own back yard over the summer. Just me and a shovel, no machines except for the dump truck rental for the stone. I did end up with some four ways and a few long joint lines but its my back yard and It doesn't bother me or more importantly my wife. Thanks again!
My pleasure, making these videos over the past few years has been so much fun! Especially when I get feedback like this. Congrats on your project and the minor details on matter when you are a professional with OCD...🤣 ✌
It was a big project for sure... I love challenges though LOL. Rain can be annoying but it also provides food and green grass, so how can you be too mad when it comes? LOL Thanks for the feedback! ✌
Just finished my patio after a couple weekends of work thanks to your videos! Had a guy come over that works for a landscaper and said he wouldn’t have been able to do it any better!
That's awesome brother, I love reading comments like this! I'm sure it feels good chilling on a patio that you built with your own hands. Congratulations man, hope you make many memories on it! God Bless ✌
I would love to send you some pics of my first paver project I think you would love it. We went techo blue 60 smooth shale grey. I followed your guidelines to a T with no fourways on my first lay 🤙
That is great to hear. I love this work, mainly because how satisfying it is to make such a big difference on a property. Something so nice about seeing a hardscape project come together, super addicting and I could not imagine doing anything else… thanks for the support!! ✌🏻
So glad to see an upload brother and a nice long one at that. Love to see it. I know working filming and trying to upload is super difficult but we are still here for ya my man. Gonna lay back and enjoy the show.
I did something similar with my backyard (gas, electric, water), only I sleeved all the lines with reinforced PVC and buried in 3/4 gravel to prevent sagging once I put the weight of the patio and to ensure machines were not going to compress the substructures (landscapers, arborists, and future expansion of the backyard.
Hi Kyle, Why did you have to excavate in the rain? Pressed for time? Mad skills on the mini, like watching a surgeon. Can’t wait to see the rest of the process, and of course, the finished product. ✌🏻
Hey man, some days we just work through the rain... Our season here for work is only 8-9 months so we got to work as much as we can. Plus it was mainly machine work so we stayed somewhat dry...LOL Thanks for the support as always!✌
I think I remember you saying you liked that Kubota you got there. I just recently this summer rented one to clear some landscape for a pool that I put in and I hated the thing. I am not use to the foot controls for the bucket. I am use to all the controls being in the hand controls. It took me longer than it should have to get use to the foot controls. And when I was finished I still don't think I was use to them. But it got the job done, better than digging it all by hand like I had started doing. Next project is hopefully going to be the paver patio that I have been planning for the last year. Love your videos keep them coming...I know you been busy this summer!
I absolutely love my Kubota! However, many manufacturers offer both types of controls… my Kubota has hand controls, not foot. That is an option some let you choose. The old school guys love the foot controls, but us younger folk know how efficient the hand controls are…🤣 I started with foot controls and loved them until I got used to hand controls. I’ll never go back. Such a waste of time having 4 different controls instead of 2.
@@TheChristianHardscaper When I was younger the skid steer I drove had hand controls and that is what I got use to. Then here at work I had to use our skid steer and it also had foot controls and I couldn't do it, made someone else use it for me. Then I rented that skid steer for my project and it had foot controls and I had to make myself get somewhat use to them in the few hours I had the machine.
Damn that sucks man... I have used some dirty chip before, not fun. The place I have been getting mine for the past couple years has some amazing stuff.
I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for taking the time and explaining. I’ve watched all of your videos and you and Ben seem like absolute gentlemen. I Just wanted to know what kind of geotextile and grid do you use? I see that there is a woven and a non woven version of them.
You weren't kidding when you said the size of that thing! Can't wait to see how it all comes together. What the heck is the owner powering with all those lines up into the woods?? 😂 Smart planning for the plumbing for a heater and a grill too in advance even if it's not done immediately.
Heck yea man, that was a big one! A lot of those conduits are future plans and just in case. He wanted to have them there for a future shed and a couple other things. But yea, the 2 extra gas hookups on the side is an excellent move 👌 Looking forward to yours coming up!
I just wasn’t to say thanks for the content . I’m new to the channel and your videos are great . Since researching these videos the in depth and explanation of the what you do the why you do it this was instead of that way is what separates you from the rest .
It certainly is a big project... And yes, 90% of the time it is just 2 of us. Someday I hope to have a solid 4-5 man crew but patience is key. And it's funny you say that because the next few videos will have one of my best friends in it because he spent the last couple months last year help us finish some projects. You will see him in the next video!✌
How do you get the backfill and the compacted base even and level. I always struggle with the tamper to get that right and ensure the grade is consistent across the span
Honestly, I just be sure to over excavated so I know I'm deep enough and as I backfill, I go just a few sections at a time to make sure I am on point ✌
This customer wanted us to dig deeper than we normally would to make sure there is no water issues and so that we could install geogrid in the middle of the base stone. So the 3/4 is 98% compacted up to 5-6 inches. Then you need to compact to prevent some sinking. So we did to lifts and compacted them both on this project to be safe. ✌

Thanks brother! ✌
Great job. I imagine you must have a lot of yard work to do. ...keep going. GOD BLESS YOU 🙏
Thank you and we sure do...LOL God Bless you too! ✌
Wonderful prep work. Great jobs guys
Thanks man, much appreciated! ✌
What a huge project. Starting in the rain and mud doesn't seem to dampen your vision and enthusiasm. Can't wait to see it progress into a work of art.

These are so satisfying to watch. The amount of work you both do is incredible, but it is so worth the effort to see the result.

Great job as usual !!! Keep up the good work and the videos coming !!!

good to see an upload!

I know it...😂 Wish I had more time for them because I really enjoy making them. But plenty of videos to come. Thanks for the support! ✌
What type of fabric you use underneath for the separation of stone and subsoil and where can we get it? Thanks and awesome work!

Chip stone is so clean. I got a bunch from Attleboro sand and stone and shit was full of crap

Glad to hear it and it is my pleasure to make the videos! I use a (Woven) geotextile fabric. It is better for stabilization.

What are y’all using to keep the wheel barrel from fudging the compacted base up
How do you calculate how much rock you need for o replace dirt you take out ? You guys do great work. 🙏

What do you do when sloped paver driveway meets flat garage pad?
Big project. Do you always run a two person crew or ever have more?

Why did you tamp the walkway twice? I've heard you say the stone lays 98% compacted.
