Amazing interview!! Love Tim Winter!! Also its one of my goals to study Islamic, Arabic and Persian literature as its so incredibly rich and it'ld be a shame if one didn't get the essence of its beauty!!
Really was inspired listing to Shayke Hakim, gave me a real boost. Then one mistakenly glanced at the petty comments below which brought me back down! How can Muslims derive such negativity from something so eloquently presented? Furthermore, before critiquing others who put themselves out there reflect on what benefit one has brought to Islam other than being an armchair antagonist. Moreover, what must non-Muslims think when every single Islamic video accompanies squabbling Muslims below it?
The prophetic narrations which describe the intercession are many ; they are mentioned in Bukhari and especially in Muslim. From amongst these narrations is the famous Hadith reported by Abu Sa’d Al Khudri that the prophet ﷺ will intercede and Allah will say: “Go take out of Hell anyone whose heart you find faith (emaan ) equal to one (gold) dinar , then one who has in his heart faith equal to half of a dinar, then one who has faith equal to a kernel, the one whose faith is equal to an the amount of an atom then the one whose faith equal to the absolute smaller particle” (Bukhari 7439, Muslim 183). So when we reconcile all the narrations in combination with several Ayah such as; وَمَنْ لَمْ يُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ فَإِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ سَعِيرًا And whosoever does not believe in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), then verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers a blazing Fire. On the Day when their faces will be turned over in the Fire, they will say: "Oh, would that we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger (Muhammad SAW)." 33:66 Al-Ahzab, Ayah 66 - We come to know that the correct believe regarding the intercession is that it is reserved for the believers. As for the Jews and Christians then they are disbelievers and if they die in that state then eman does not ente into thier heart. So how can this man claim that they will receive the intercession of the prophet ﷺ? The prophet ﷺ lived with the Jews, right alongside them for 10 years in Medina, he never stopped giving them dawah. Even fought them after they broke various treaties. And he ﷺ knew about the intercession being granted to him as one of the favours of Allah so why didn’t he just leave them be if they were going to be forgiven all along ? As for the second grave error of this man, regarding: Allah's statement, ﴿فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَى ﴾ (And was at a distance of two bows` length or less.) As Ibn Kathir authentically brings in his Tafsir: “Means, Jibril came closer to Muhammad when Jibril was descending to him on earth. At that time, the distance between them became only two bow lengths, when the bows are extended to full length, according to Mujahid and Qatadah. It was said that the meaning here is the distance between the bow's string and its wood center. Allah's statement, ﴿أَوْ أَدْنَى﴾ (or less) indicates that the distance was as only as far described, not more. This type of usage is found in several instances in the Qur'an, such as, ﴿ثُمَّ قَسَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ مِّن بَعْدِ ذلِكَ فَهِىَ كَالْحِجَارَةِ أَوْ أَشَدُّ قَسْوَةً﴾ (Then, after that, your hearts were hardened and became as stones or even worse in hardness.)(2:74) The Ayah says that their hearts became not softer than rocks, but as hard and difficult as rocks, and more. There is a similar Ayah, ﴿يَخْشَوْنَ النَّاسَ كَخَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ أَوْ أَشَدَّ خَشْيَةً﴾ (fear men as they fear Allah or even more.)(4:77), and Allah's statement, ﴿وَأَرْسَلْنَـهُ إِلَى مِاْئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ ﴾ (And We sent him to hundred thousand (people) or even more.)(37:147), indicating that they were not less than a hundred thousand, but that amount or more. Therefore, this verifies the facts mentioned, leaving no doubt or means of refute. Similarly, Allah said, ﴿فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَى ﴾ (And was at a distance of two bow lengths or less.) We stated before that it was Jibril who came down near the Prophet , according to `A'ishah, the Mother of the faithful, `Abdullah bin Mas`ud, Abu Dharr and Abu Hurayrah. We will mention their statements about this soon afterwards, Allah willing. Ibn Jarir recorded that `Abdullah bin Mas`ud said about this Ayah, ﴿فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَى ﴾ (And was at a distance of two bow lengths or less.) "Allah's Messenger said, «رَأَيْتُ جِبْرِيلَ لَهُ سِتُّمِائَةِ جَنَاح» (I saw Jibril; he had six hundred wings.)'' Al-Bukhari recorded that Talq bin Ghannam said that Za'idah said that Ash-Shaybani said, "I asked Zirr about the Ayah, ﴿فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَى - فَأَوْحَى إِلَى عَبْدِهِ مَآ أَوْحَى ﴾ (And was at a distance of two bow lengths or less. So (Allah) revealed to His servant whatever He revealed.) Zirr said, "Abdullah narrated to us that Muhammad saw Jibril having six hundred wings.'' Allah's statement, ﴿فَأَوْحَى إِلَى عَبْدِهِ مَآ أَوْحَى ﴾ (So he revealed to His servant whatever He revealed.) means, Jibril conveyed to Allah's servant Muhammad whatever he conveyed. Or, the meaning here could be: Allah revealed to His servant Muhammad whatever He revealed through Jibril. Both meanings are correct. Sa`id bin Jubayr said about Allah's statement, ﴿فَأَوْحَى إِلَى عَبْدِهِ مَآ أَوْحَى ﴾ (So He revealed to His servant whatever He revealed.) "Allah revealed to him,” So it is a grave misunderstanding to think or claim that the ayah ﴿فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَى ﴾ (And was at a distance of two bows` length or less.) Is referring to Allah , where as in fact it is referring to Jibril , as attested by multiple companions رضي الله عنهم and thier students. Cambridge and other institutions love to propagate these type of people with thier modern / orientalist agenda, with dangerous , incorrect interpretations of the Quran and Sunnah. May Allah guide them if they are sincere and May Allah guide us as Allah knows best.
What I am saying is that is wrong to confuse one's understanding of the Qur'an, which is dependent on the capacity of each person, to the Holy Qur'an itself. Our understanding of the Qur'an is limited, and can be even distorted, for various reasons. However, the odds are great that a scholar of the stature of dr. Winter (Abdul Hakim Murad) has a deeper understanding of the Qur'an than many others who don't have his qualifications.
We do have wierdo's in Islam. Tim Winter is a grate Gem. He is entitled to his views. He did not say the Jews or the Christians will also have the HHN Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH)'s intercession. He was exemplifying the power of his prayer, that he carries the stranghth, that anyone not from his Ummah can have his intercession. Anyway, he is no liar, he is no sooth sayer. Ultimately it for Allah to judge him and all of us. Not for any man or woman.
@jahangiro Read the context with each and every point that you have raised in your comment, and you would see whats behind it! Need not to comment back, until you study the entire events related to it!
@musa78692 leave matters like these to god. god knows what we don't know! we are not in a position to judge. we are just humans. all we need is just to live peacefully and respectfully.
I hope you studied the subject and know which scholars said that even christians and jews can be saved by intercession of the Prophet sas. i dont think you know what it means. it means that Prophets dua is so strong and accepted by Allah that it could happen that if he'd intercede for ahl al kitab, Allah would accept his du3aa2. no one ever said it will definitely happen or it will likely happen. its just to illustrate greatness of Prophets dua. do you know which scholars said it? i hope you do
everybody is getting sidetracked...just listen to the man talk about the topic at hand, the Burda. Sorry, it's my fault for commenting on the woman thing.
@jahangiro Muslim men are aloud to talk to women as long the man or the woman has no desire for the other person otherwise they would have to lower their gaze. Prophet Muhammed used to talk to women face to face.
selam a lekum. :) @jahangiro, @erisolga is correct. Unfortunately, it is these very same hardcore muslims that are bringing problems to our faith and denegrating the name of our Prophet (saws). If you study the Koran, Allah (Sbut) states that "whoever submits his or her entire being to Allah (sbut) and is doer of righteous deeds" is the one who has the hereafter with Allah (sbut). This is the station of Ibrahaim (as), complete submission. This can include anyone not just Muslims.
This man has not very much knowledge of Islam i think. The prophet said cleary in an authentic hadith that anyone who hears of him and does not follow him (become muslim) will dwell in the hellfire forever. And now this professor says that even christians and jews maybe will be saved through the intercession of Muhammad, peace and blessings upon him.
Mohammed SAW came as a messenger for the whole of humanity. Those Jews and Christian's who believed in one God, and did good in this world will be accounted for like the Muslims in the Hereafter. So I see how the Prophets intercession may lead to the ultimate salvation of some Jews and Christians.
You missed the concept completely, be carful next time don’t do “Ta’aweel’ تأويل of Quran and Hadith of your own single-dimensional empty perspective. It really one of the biggest sins in Islam and many hadiths refer to that, التاىيل و التفسير بلا علم، fortunately for you in the modern era, you can google some trusted sources where you can find correct interpretation.
is he allowed to talk to a woman like this??!! i sense a lashing coming along. Weird how these liberal, soft cuddly Muslims seem to spark the fury of the more hardcore ones. I like this guy, presents a palatable version of Islam, though i suspect he won't be adored by a lot of Muslims guys i know, especially when he says Jews will may get into heaven! Nice calligraphy.
surely, this veneration of the prophet is excessive? all this talk of intercession makes for a personality cult...you lose sight of personal aspiration to God. Remember Muhammad was a man, if you read the seerat you see he is prone to anger, killed many people in fact, also raided tribes for booty, like the attack on Kheybar. Not saying he's a bad man, he is a product of his time.
Amazing interview!! Love Tim Winter!!

simply superb
Very well explained
MashAllah! ;)
Beautiful.
ALLAH IS THE GREATEST
Excellent, I will deff look up the book on al burda.
Shame on all who has posted silly comments, you are not muslims but fools.
well done for your good work.
we can all live in together as human beings as long as we dont eat n breath Zionist lies.
