Springboks vs All Blacks is without a doubt the greatest rivalry in rugby, but we've been denied it as a RWC final too often due to the draw often looking like it was manipulated to get a northern hemisphere team (usually England) through to the final.

Rassie and his team turned a 5-3 bench split into almost a 7-3 within the rules and kudos to them. It’s a game of fine margins and there is nobody better in World Rugby to use every possible advantage within the laws.

They mentioned it in the video, like SA were playing rolling subs...
Players going off for HIA, the players on the field switch positions and after passing their HIA and a 10 minute break they come back on again so players on the bench that have already come off get to go back on the field again until the players that went off come back on so the forewards on the field also then move around to different positions. Flank moves to lock, 8th man to flank, flank to hooker and a rested 8th man comes back on after passing the HIA, like musical chairs 🤣 something like that anyway.
Didn't Duane, PSDT and Bongi go off for HIA, Duane and PSDT came back on and Eben also had a 10 minute break on the side lines because of a yellow otherwise everything in between HIAs was players swapping places hence why he called it rolling subs.
Boks have alot of utility players in the squad that slip into different positions. Flanks play locks, 2 of the 3 hookers in the squad are actually flanks. 4 scrumhalves cover the wings and full back, the wing plays at centre, other one covers fullback, fullback can play on the wing, fly half is a fullback, Kwagga will play anywhere!
Yes, hope that cleared up any misunderstanding 😂

    • @groenrizla2513
      @groenrizla2513 Год назад +4

And what's more is that because of all the focus on head contact and player safety today, nobody can say a player comming off for a HIA can't have a HIA 🤣
Pure genius, brilliant move but of course we only conspiracy theorists, the timing was all just coincidence 😉

I think Rassie spoke about the HIA thing, similar to in the last RWC he called for one on Bongi Mbonambi that the refs and TMOs missed, then Bongi stayed off. This time there was a knock on PSDT and he went off for an HIA but was cleared.
Every single sub needs to be approved by the refs on the sidelines anyway, so if it wasn't a legal sub, PSDT wouldn't have been allowed to return.

As an Argie I can only say this..: All Blacks, Springboks and Wallabies are World Champions, and we have the privilege to play against each one of them every year, thus learning from the three of them a bit at a time, though I'm somewhat sad the Aussies are going through a bad drought... I also think European Nations somehow understimated both AB's and SB's history in RWC (that's what I get from their media ...) ... We know quite perfectly that we're the unexpected guest at a Very Private Party with Three World Champions, and that the first one asking us what the heck are we doing there is no other than the AB' ... What else can be said ...? ... It seems clear to me that a final between the AB'S and SB'S looks inevitable, and one on this game any prediction wouldn't be more precise than a tossed coin ... Both Teams are too strong... In spite of all this, I must say it ...: Vamos Los Pumas ... !!! ... If you look at both those games, both the All blacks and Springboks defended for more of their games. That to me says more especially when the game goes deeper. The lift that the team gets and the togetherness when you work together and hold a team out. You can see by the celebration that it means so much more, even more so than scoring a try.

@@kslice810he means fresher by not facing as difficult opponents as we have. That's true but might also be a negative for them. We should have too much for them. But it's dependant on if we play like we can and they continue the same way they have, if they lift their game and we drop of, it might get tight. We should play smart knock out rugby. Kick goals, kick corners, maul, and if it is on, use our attacking backline. We should not be too defensive and only kick 3 points, and we also should not just think we can run them ragged like a romania.

Change the knockout finals phase to a NRL final series model. Keep the pool play and than the 8 teams that proceed to the finals are ranked on their current world rankings.
The finals series takes place over four weeks.
    Week one
The top 4 teams play qualifying finals (QF) (1 vs 4, 2 vs 3) and the bottom 4 play elimination finals (EF) (5 vs 8, 6 vs 7).
    Week two
    1st semi-final:
Loser of 1st QF v winner of 1st EF
    2nd semi-final:
Loser of 2nd QF v winner of 2nd EF
    Week three
    1st preliminary final:
Winner of 1st QF vs winner of 2nd SF.
    2nd preliminary final:
Winner of 2nd QF vs winner of 1st SF.
    Week four
    World Cup Final:

I dont think the Southern hemisphere was particularly dangerous or special at this world cup - the quarterfinals between NZ and Ireland and SA vs France were won on extremely fine margins and could have really gone either way. We could very well have seen Ireland and France go through and have had 3 Northern hemisphere teams in the semis - no one would argue that France or Ireland would be any less deserving.
There's a reason a rugby ball isn't round. Given such tight games, much has to do with the luck of the bounce, and the rugby gods were indeed smiling on the southern hemisphere this quarterfinal weekend.
