When I was little, my family and I broke down on Test Track right on the steep curve above the entrance. We had an in-show exit, and the cast members took pictures of us all flopped over in the car like crash test dummies! Definitely one of my best Disney memories
We were on Star Tours and it started with no audio. Me and my sister and one other group were basically repeating the lines (this was before the redo). Between us we quoted almost the whole ride. People were laughing so hard. When the doors opened up no one moved and the next group was super confused. They let us ride again and as we left someone behind me said ‘man they must have been on this so many times, they knew almost all the dialogue’ 😅
i LOVE seeing the technical sides of how rides work, props to all the engineers that make these complicated machines for us all… and thanks to TPM for letting us in on these secrets!
Something super interesting about the Smuggler’s Run breakdown is that the words in aurebesh (the Star Wars alphabet) spell out “two” and “three” making me think that those are screens number 2 and 3, and there’s probably another one underneath the one at eye level.
This is very similar to the transformation that happens near the end of the Disney produced Broadway show of Beauty and the Beast. The actor steps behind a video screen pretending like it is a TV camera of the actor - which gives him time to do the costume transformation and jump out like magic.
16:48 All that black stuff on the floor is shreds of the rubber tires. I wonder through how many tires they go in a year. It's probably full rubber tires, but still. They fall down all over the place, you can see them anywhere underneath the ride track in the back stage area. On stage, they clean them up pretty fast, but if you look in the planters next to the ride exit, you can find lots of them as well. Free "piece of a ride" souvenir 🙂
The most I’ve I ever had was an un-moving boulder in Indiana Jones, and an extended pause in the Haunted Mansion Holiday (which was rather confortable, because we got stuck right before the graveyard, in the part where the cars are going up a hill right under the living doll)
These are awesome! I wonder if your next Animatronic malfunction will include Murphy in California catching fire. That’s an animatronic malfunction for the books. It reminded me of the fire with the Steampunk Maleficent Dragon.
When Test Track first opened, my sister and I rode it when it had been broken all day. That five minute ride took 25 minutes because our car never went above a golf car. The most hilarious part was listening to the audio that told you to hang on tight while fake tire screeching happened 30 feet in front of you! 😂 My favorite ride that I have never rode as it was intended.
One time I was standing in line for a ride at Disney, and I said “ ugh, I really hope we get an inshow exit!” Two minutes later the ride broke down, let me just tell you, I hadn’t gotten on the ride yet, I was still waiting, and some other people got the inshow exit I asked for, and after that, all the other rides I went on broke down for about two seconds before starting back up again, fun.
my family was about to get into pirates of the caribbean when the lighting and music stopped working. The cast member said we were welcome to still ride it in the dark and silence. So spooky and we all played music from the movies on our phones 😂
Was in Disneyland California last month and unfortunately did not get an in-show exit. At Walt Disney World in Florida next month so my fingers are crossed for at least one!
The only In show exit I’ve had with Disney, was at Walt Disney world on the little mermaid ride. It was super cool to see the dark ride all lit up and I wish I would of recorded it. Some people think an I show exit would ruin the magic for little kids, but the kids in the ride with us were so thrilled!
My dad and I got stuck on the hill right before the backword part of Mt. Everest! Got a great view of the sunset though! Luckily we didn't have to exit the ride
I was in Disneyland Paris last weekend, and we actually had TWO issues. The ride at Phantom Manor stopped like three or four times (always very funny since we get a notification that some prankster spirits stopped our progress temporarily), and there was a 3D error during the Ratatouille ride.
On my first trip to Disneyworld in 2018, it was with a group of friends that are regulars. The rides broke down a lot, and each time my friend's husband kept yelling "Blame the newbie". It became a running joke throughout our whole 9-day stay. Love that memory.
Little random story, I and my mom went to Disneyland recently, and I got myself a chuuby shoulder pal, I decided I didn’t want him on my shoulder and tied him to my magic band and took him on all the rides, the first being big thunder mountain. We were at the lift hill on the outside near the coyotes, skunks, and opossums, and then we stopped for like two minutes. I was holding chubby by the foot up in the air when it suddenly restarted. We might not have gotten a in-show exit, but it was still interesting, we almost did on radiator springs racers though. (I’m sorry I’m sharing this :,) ) we were in the paint room when suddenly we became backed up for about 6 minutes. Again I had chuuby. We waited and waited. Ramone froze on the screen and it felt like he was staring into our soul- there were about 2 cars in front of us waiting to race, but nothing happened. I don’t think it was raining but I did loose my shoes from it 😅. Chuuby has endured much. It’s fun to see breakdowns though, even if it didn’t happen to you. To absolutely nobody who might be curious, chuuby went on, in order, big thunder, pirates, Indiana jones, radiator springs racers, Jessie’s critter carrousel, incredicoster (in a bag along with other things), etc Even more random stuff, PEOPLE WERE AGGRESSIVE ON RUNNAWAY RAILWAY. they shoved me and pushed me around because they wanted to be first in line :,)
I love seeing malfunction breakdowns and in-show exits. These videos also make me learn the In-Show Exit Routes back to the park. Stay awesome TPMVids! I love your videos! 😊
i was in the log in front at 17:38! we got stopped at the hill before the drop, where the cast members came out with flashlights and told us that they were looking for a dog! then we got walked off at the finale. it really was the best possible final ride! ☺️
My whole family had to wait in line for the Ratatouille ride because it kept breaking down lol, lucky it was working perfectly fine when my group went on a cart
Ahh that happened to us on Test Track once. We didn’t quickly launch outside, but rather, slowly crept out, got most of the way around the loop, then stopped. That circle is curved a lot more than you realize going fast, we were all trying so hard not to lay on my mom who was, unfortunately, on the bottom of us all turned sideways 😂 what a ride!
When I was younger, it broke down at the end of “it’s a small world” and that haunts me to this day. I never want to hear that song again. What felt like 30 minutes turned into an eternity.
I enjoyed my family's walk off of test track back in 2005, we got stuck in the heat room and they eventually took us through some locker rooms to get off.
The only in-ride breakdown I ever experienced was on Test Track - a tiny bit further along than the guys in the video. In that curve. I was about 10 years old and sitting on the left side and my dad to my right and he kept moving toward me due to the incline and gravity. Also it was a super hot day and it took soooo long until the cars kept going. Not much fun but at least we got to ride again 😂
I had a ride breakdown on Pirates of the Caribbean, but it was so short isn't wasn't worth filming. I think it's funny how more people hope for in show breakdowns. Thanks to TPMvids, I get to experience them with everyone else. I like the one viewer's version of the TMPvids opening when he got off Thunder Mountain. That was well done.
OK that's it, that is my #1 place I wish to break down on ANY ride of any Disney park in the entire world - At the moving tunnel with the boulder on Indiana Jones. I know how the illusion works and it still is done SO WELL when you're on the ride that I can't actually see it happening. To get to see that portion, even not moving, with the lights on? OMG That would be PERFECTION
No joke- I also got stuck in Mr. Toad's ride in the Hell section, though only for a brief moment. However, it was my very first time riding and I had absolutely no context to what the ride would be like, so you can imagine my bewilderment when we suddenly stopped RIGHT in front of the GATES OF HELL with hot air blasting in my face. I thought the pause was intentional until my friends (which we were all sardined together because they squeezed all 3 of us inside one cart) starting cackling.
I love watching your videos. I have vivid memories of binging your videos before everytime I went so I can share some of the stories to the people in line. I haven't gone since 2019 due to covid, but we're definitely planning on going next year. Thank you for being such a big part of my childhood.
We had a breakdown and in show exit at splash mountain over our Christmas vacation to Disney World. It was our very last time being able to ride it before it shut down and a wonderful memory to see everything up close.
My god, the moment that those dudes crashed the program in Smuggler’s Run is absolute comedy gold! Like what are the chances that the whole program would crash? 😂
About 5 years ago, when me and my mom were on test track, right before the power section, the ride stopped and the show lights came on for about 20 minutes, the ride eventually started, one of the more interesting theme park things to happen to me
A couple years ago I broke down on the haunted mansion, it was soo cool because we broke down on the dining room scene meaning we saw the way the peppers ghost effect worked
I was on the people mover at MK when Space Mountain was down with the work lights on and then the people mover stopped for a few minutes right at the window so I got to see all of Space Mountain’s inner workings. One of the coolest experiences ever
Over the years and countless trips we’ve had an in show exit on Dinosaur, Splash Mountain, and on Living with the Land. Also experienced a break down on Space Mountain. Delayed basically at the start of ride for 8-10 minutes and then rode the ride with the lights on, which made it look somewhat like a cheap carnival ride.
Sad to see Splash Mountain go. With the multitude of animatronics the ride plays home to, it will be nice to see them reused on the new version or another ride. I just hope they keep the FSU Gopher. I don't know where exactly he is, but he's with others and pops out from the ceiling. You can't really hear him unless you're directly below him when he does it. He jumps out and says FSU, which is the initials for Florida State University, the Alma matter of most of Disney's employees. At least when Splash Mountain was first constructed.
I’m a ride operator at Transformers The Ride 3D at Universal Studios Hollywood and I have to say, Indiana Jones and rest track are the equivalent to our ride. It breaks down and some of those situations are usually caused by guests not seated correctly.
I have a good laugh when I see these. Dude, you have some kind of formula, when you watch alone its always perfect, but when you watch this in the background while multitasking, it still grabs your attention! I cant quite describe it but im basically saying you have a great channel ❤
Back in 2001, I was on a vacation to WDW. Right after we boarded Test Track and had pulled up to the seat belt check, the ride operators announced they were suspending boarding of vehicles as it had started to rain. We continued through the rest of the indoor experience, came through the crash wall and onto the outdoor speed section when we were pelted by rain. We got about to the loop at the back when we came to a stop and it was obvious they were powering down. I grabbed my poncho from my camera bag, and spread it across the 3 of us in the front seat to help keep us dry while we waited 10-15 minutes for our In Show Exit. We were walked out and given fast passes for a later return to ride again.
I got to do an in-show exit on Radiator Springs Racers in 2018. The car slammed to a stop and the work lights came on right as we started to run from Frank. We were stuck for ~30 minutes before someone came to get us. On the way out, we got to see that: * Frank is just the thresher and front part of the cab - the show scene wall is just inches behind the cab * Mater leading you from Sheriff to the tractor-tipping spot is actually two figures which switch out behind the bushes (figure 1 greets you when Sheriff tells you to slow down and enters the bushes alongside you, figure 2 emerges from the bushes as you pass by while figure 1 goes to meet the next car) * One of the minivans in the tunnel scene has a bumper sticker on the rear bumper that says "Nice Butte." Probably my favorite detail on the ride! It's impossible to see during the ride due to your speed, the positioning, and the darkness.
Just today, a fire broke out during the epic battle-ending scene on Fantasmic in Disneyland if anyone heard. Now because of this incident, Disney is suspending all shows until further notice. It was not known until for how long this will be. Must've been a malfunction with the fire system probably
I remember getting stuck on splash mountain on my last day at Disney World while I was on vacation! We were stuck on the last part then had to listen ti something on repeat but it was cool!!
You’re editing is AWESOME! This may be the best one yet between Rockin Roller Coaster and Test Track getting to see real engineering stuff!!! 😎 (Nerd alert here)
So far despite having made dozens of trips to WDW and living in Orlando for a time, I have only had one on stage exit. I was literally about 20 feet into The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh ride when it broke down, and we had to walk the 20 seconds back out the way we came. The only other time was in the queue at Test Track. We didn't even make it to the ride, so we had to exit out a side door.
About 2 years ago, I broke down on Test Track in the speed comparison room I believe. It was such a cool experience to see all of the sets with the lights on. Sadly, no in show exit though
On our last trip in November 2022 our most interesting “breakdown” moments were when we hesitated for a few moments in Indiana Jones right at the boulder- just long enough that it was obvious it was spinning in place, and when we had to in-show-exit Mr. Toad except we had to sit and wait for a little while. Where I was waiting was the showroom that shares enough space with Alice to be able to hear the Cheshire Cat on repeat for a bjt
I need to make my dad give you the ONLY FOOTAGE we got while riding splash mountain (in-show exit included) It was literally a dream come true. Splash Mountain is my favorite ride and I'm sad that I won't be able to ride it for a while, but we'll see it again very soon. Tiana is one of my favorite Disney princesses so I feel this would be a perfect fit of a ride for her. With the singing animals to the beautiful water tower, it comes together in one perfect cake 👌Btw I love you sooooo much and hope to get to meet you someday ♥ P.S. My dad is cringey in the footage we shot :P Keep on doing these videos I've been waiting a very long time for this one!
I've been stuck at Peter Pan in Disneyland over "London" out of ladder range for almost an hour, they finally did a full reset and got us flown in to Unload. They didn't want to clear out the set pieces on the floor.
When I was little, my family and I broke down on Test Track right on the steep curve above the entrance. We had an in-show exit, and the cast members took pictures of us all flopped over in the car like crash test dummies! Definitely one of my best Disney memories

You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby right round round round.

I was in Disneyland Paris last weekend, and we actually had TWO issues.
The ride at Phantom Manor stopped like three or four times (always very funny since we get a notification that some prankster spirits stopped our progress temporarily), and there was a 3D error during the Ratatouille ride.
It could be possible that they were letting a handicap person onto the Doom Buggies on Phantom Manor due to the Omnimover system.
On my first trip to Disneyworld in 2018, it was with a group of friends that are regulars. The rides broke down a lot, and each time my friend's husband kept yelling "Blame the newbie". It became a running joke throughout our whole 9-day stay. Love that memory.
So Disney needs to create a ride that randomly breaks down, regularly, but in a different location each time. 😂

* Mater leading you from Sheriff to the tractor-tipping spot is actually two figures which switch out behind the bushes (figure 1 greets you when Sheriff tells you to slow down and enters the bushes alongside you, figure 2 emerges from the bushes as you pass by while figure 1 goes to meet the next car)
* One of the minivans in the tunnel scene has a bumper sticker on the rear bumper that says "Nice Butte." Probably my favorite detail on the ride!
Murphy better be on this list.
R.I.P my guy. Im gonna miss you buddy.

I remember getting stuck on splash mountain on my last day at Disney World while I was on vacation!
We were stuck on the last part then had to listen ti something on repeat but it was cool!!
3:25 ; I have never EVER had an in-show exit nor have I seen the projections glitch; but maybe someday I’ll get to see it in person I hope
okayexcuse me for a moment OMFG THOSE KIDS ARE SO FLIPPING CUTE! All her questions
I was on Rise of the Risistance in B mode, was pretty happy about that.
I had an in show exit on thunder mountain in Florida, I didn’t realise it was an exciting thing at the time but looking back it was super cool

Those Mickey and Minnie glitches are hilarious omg 😂😂 the windows projections feel like a meme edit
