- Hello there,
In this video we see the follow up to my previous video on making my BMG look more like my Guyton Time Warp.
This time I have completed a full modification to the guitar using some custom UK made parts and talk you through the good the bad and the other I found out about doing this.
This is completely my take on how to go about doing the work and achieve the aesthetic I was after.
I managed my goal to make a Modified BMG with 100% UK made parts, just as the original Red Special was made and I think it turned out pretty well. Appologies for the footage without strings again. I am in the middle of getting the guitar ready for the Red Special Meetup 2023 and am behind for a number of reasons but wanted to get this out as it has been sat in my to do pile for a while.
As I mentioned in the vide I took inspiration from SGL Guitar from back in the early 2000's

RS Mods UK is just a fun play on the inspiration I got from seeing the Red Arrows earlier this year at the Torbay Air Show. I had mentioned the idea to a friend who knocked up the logo. I hope you like it.

@@TheRedSpecialGuitarPodcastBrian May inspired me and my grandpa to build our own homemade electric guitar I've had the same guitar in my profile picture since I was 12 I'm now 20 soon turning 21 and that's my main and only electric guitar the shape was inspired by Earl Scruggs banjo Earl Scruggs is my favorite picker considering I'm originally from Shelby NC I'm now In Morganton but yeah that's my main electric guitar I also use a custom set of flatwound strings made by my buddy in Nashville he's makes em only for me

Hey Jon! It’s Mike with Queen Nation here in Los Angeles. Loved the video! Was that Brian‘s original old lady, or was that a replica? If it was the original… Is the neck as difficult to play as everybody says it is?
Hi Mike, that was my Guyton Guitars Time Warp Replica. The neck is huge but you get used to it quickly and then it just makes sense
It has the look and feel but what about the realibility? There is a reason why conversions usually have longer space between tremolo and bridge.
My testing has found no issues at all with it having the correct tremolo spacing as per the original guitar.
Impressive! Is there holes visible after removing original half moon plate?
Hey there, at the moment there is one hole visible due to the half moon BMG screw to the body
What do you make of the sound of the stock BMG PUs compared to the Adeson Guyton and Yonderbosk?
My guitar has Adeson Guyton PUs and I found that it was very similar to BMG, except the BMG lacked the warmth!
They are all different. Biggest noticeable and the place I go to to compare is the jangly clean tones. Ultimately you have to find what you like. Yonderbosks are my go to choice
You could at least have used a router and a template, rather than to butcher the top like that.
That butchering you mention is picture of the SGL Guitars modification from their website that I took inspiration from, not the BMG I modified,!
