*I Need Your Help To Choose Which Knives I Bring on My 30 Day Survival Challenge!*
Atrox for sure.
DropForgedSurvival mora
Why no leathermans?
DropForgedSurvival you are my role model
The green fiddle nut? Fiddle back?, 002 chopper and the Lmax Skinner. Would be my choices, good video bro :-)
KC knives Trail Knife. For sure.
The largest and smallest KC knives would be a sweet combo.
Roger that John!
The Atrox, and the 140 pukko. Period.
Concur. My reasons why. They're NOT One-Off Customs that you'll be crying over 30 years from now if you lose it somehow. So you can replace them when you come back. You'll probably be using the Pukko a Lot, but it's built to be USED. The Atrox gives you Back Up Wood Chopping if you break your Ax or Saw ("Shit Happens"- Murphy), plus a Defensive Capability against Predators (both 2 AND 4 Legged). But I'd keep it at Base Camp. And I'd have a Strong Locking Folder in a pocket, Just in Case. Hope this helps.
Jep's Outdoor Adventures Fair Points to both of yall
@ Leslie Kovacs my thoughts exactly. Thanks Chris
Woohoo! Fiddleback, KcKnives, and Helmforge! Wow!!!
Go for the KC knives those looks like they need some loving from you chris.....
That they do my friend! Noted
KC camp knife and Cold Steel mini hunter all day long!
Alec That would certainly be a fun combo
Awesome vid!!!
My vote and two cents, Take the Puko 140 and the companion knife.
Chaucer Faux Roger that bud
You know Fowler is gonna take his cold steel shovel, you guys will have more then enough to survive. also take a sharpening puck, or a leather strop.
Make it interesting a small Swiss Army knife and a hatchet.
Hrmmmmm 🤔
Hahaha! I was thinking the same thing! But I was thinking one of those Victorinox (sp?) With only 1 blade, a file and a pair of scissors that run around $10 US. I know it's a really inefficient tool for the challenge, but that's exactly why I was thinking about it. (My thoughts were more like "It's a really stupid idea, but it would be a REAL challenge!" Followed by an "evil" chuckle.)
The big KC knife...
For some reason, the website wont work for me. Can someone give me an approx for it?
I need a big chopper and they dont make the becker bk 39 anymore.
Try this it's a good chopper www.amazon.com/d/Camping-Fixed-Blade-Knives/Ka-Bar-Becker-Combat-Bowie-Fixed/B001IPKL7I/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1540418373&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=becker+bk9&dpPl=1&dpID=31OQhzSjCBL&ref=plSrch
Good man 👏👏👍
I would say the Varusteleka Jäkkari Puukko. You need to remember that you WILL need to sharpen your knife.. and having a super duper hard knife will make sharpening very hard! I have first hand experience in this.
so i would say:
Knive: Varusteleka Jäkkari Puukko
Machete: Fiddleback forge (eventhough i would love to see that Katana xD)
Vote has been tallied! Thanks for the detailed insight!
Don't take any that you would be really sad to loose or break. Some of those knifes look/sound to nice to take out, I would just take one of those $30 and the Condor
Keeping track of tools and eventually all tools break down. As pretty as some of these are. Who would I be to the Makers if I didn’t respect them with lots of outdoor Love!
Take all three of the matching ones from KC knives and the mini parang. More is more 😀
That would be a purdy paid’
Because there is a big difference between "survival" and an adventure in the wood I will take the more basic knife AKA Nora . Like that your skills will show how you can deal with all that you need to do with a simple blade. I travelled around the globe and to my experience its often the knowledge / lack of training that is failing , rarely the lack of gear.
You are correct in the that. But i will be honest.. Comments like these. Some make assumptions regarding the meaning behind them.
You know me. Can't go wrong with a machete!
Well...okay, I'd probably take the Atrox, the machete and the KC skinner if I was doing a 3 for 30.
I still think Garberg has the best spine for fero rods very hard to beat for that reason plus the carbon content wash to sharpen many pluses but you’ve got many good options there
I like stuff that matches so I am going to vote for the entire KC Set.
Shane Chepren Hahaha Right on
Why do I feel like you getting knives through this experience would look like Deadpool getting ready for the big fight at the end of the first movie or he's like give me all the guns in the house
Bahahahahahahahahaha!
A large KC Knives chopper with his famous chest sheath system
For real! The chest rig is super Comfortable
YES! TAKE THE WAKIZASHI BRO!!!
Forget the wazikashi, I'm drooling over that wasteland shortsword....
Lmao! She is a beauty
I've got three of those Mora knives. Olive drab, matte black, and a lime green one that was an impulse buy LOL! I love Morakniv!
Mora is a good budget knife all day long
Absolutely! You're in my top five favorite channels now, your neighbors are WoodedBeardsman, Fowler, Steve1989, and Bob Hansler :)
Gosh I love 2ed one
Garberg and a rush to the shops for a gransfors small forest and laplander.
clarky Interesting idea
@@DropForgedSurvival reason being is machetes are for jungle environments. Hardwoods like America and europe is an axe job. Saw and knives
KC set for sure. And the tanto in case of ninjas.
Okay, 2 only: Umm...Machete and Puuko. ALWAYS MACHETE!!!
And the rest too!
Always a Machete egh! Hahaha Roger that.
the big green handled one and the matching skinning one and good luck on your trip.
Thanks alot Rick!
Take the wasteland short sword, because of the buffelo handle....😏
And it just looks awesome!!
Fuck the knives, be a badass and bring a shovel like Zachery!! (Excuse my manners)
Neil Archer Hrmmmmm Interesting because i know exactly what he is bringingN lol 😝
Terävä Jääkäripuukko and the Condor Atrox should cover anything that pops up and with taking the Terävä, if you have some kind of malfunction with the Condor (unlikely) you still have a very capable blade to do most tasks.
one of the fiddleback forge knives
hard to pick the second if we don't know if you're also bringing an axe saw multi-tool etc and which ones...
if you're not bringing an axe... I'd go with the one you said is great chopper
if you're not bringing a multi-tool or a folder... I'd go with a smaller mora for aid in carving tasks
if you're not bringing a saw, I'd bring one
I vote for the wasteland short sword.
SlingshotWarrrior Roger that bud
thanks bro
Which parts in the video that show the knives put on test. Nothing but talking about the knives themselves. Perhaps, my english is not good
The Terava Jaakaripuukko has my vote as a companion knife pared with a bigg chopper. I want to see the Puuko go through its paces before I buy one.
We already put all the Varusteleka Blades through their paces........ Check our video feed!
DropForgedSurvival ok thanks, still think it's should go with you. Be safe an have fun. 🇺🇸
KC combo.....trail knife and either companion or skinner.
That was my pick too! :)
Dude you make volume control a nightmare!
My phone does...
Where did you get your terävä jääkäripuukko 140 in stainless?
Take one of the fiddleback forge machete and one of the Terävä Jääkäripuukko knives.
Well since I just subscribed to your channel a few days ago I have A LOT of videos to watch. So I’m going to get into watching the 30 day challenge since I just finished your 7 day Walmart challenge. I really enjoy your channel Chris and whoever designed your logo did an AWESOME JOB!!! That is one of the coolest logos I have ever seen! Keep the videos coming and I’m going to go get into watching you survive for 30 days......GOOD LUCK!!
Thanks bud! Enjoy!
Bring the KC knives Trail knife, and camp knife
Roger that! Vote Tallied!
Parang and a puuko is my vote for texas.
Garberg and parang
Tony Hoesing What a fun Combo!
I would suggest the skinner with the black and green handle and the parang
Thanks K Noted!
All so good wow just wow
Kellan Raison There are ALOT of Awesome blades on that table for sure
You should probably go with your spoon knife, a skinner like the Kc skinner that only touches food and game, a utility knife like the 5 inch pukko, and a large chopper like the 5160 blade. (I'm partial to 5160, I make all my knives out of that) But I would personally take four just because if I use the chopper for processing fire wood and the spoon knife and utility knife for wood working and carving, I would want to also have a knife that I know will stay super sharp for skinning out game and processing food so I wouldn't have to be sharpening my utility knife every time I need to skin an animal or clean a fish. Just my philosophy, since I am a knife nut and would be rather tool heavy than wishing I had a certain tool and not having one. Zachary is probably bringing his shovel too so that would make an optimal tool pack so long as you have a saw and something to drill holes like an awl on a leatherman.
Backwoodsbrooks Knives Fair Enough for your insight! We may need to try your knives on the channel in the future
I would be happy to send you a knife. Here's an idea. If you and Zachary get to thinking about certain attributes you would want in a knife after your 30 day challenge, shoot me an email at backwoodsbrooksknives@gmail.com with a design and I will try to make two identical knives for you two. I do all of my forging by hand so minor differences are bound to happen.
But actually, the matching set of knives all look really cool! You should bring at least one or two of them
Fiddle back, kc knives
Haha Right On Bud! Vote Tallied!
Garberg and kc trail knife.
Two good Options!
The spoon knife. The minihunter for skinning, you will probably skin mostly small things. Then any one of your other knives that you have tested thoroughly. Don't bring a huge knife, because you'll need to do some whittling to assist and perfect your delicate spoon carving craftsmanship.
Faux Scout Fair Points made
Take the smaller Jaäraipukko (I majorly boggled that!) and your parang in my opinion, brother
Its a good combo option for sure
Def companion knife or camp knife. Too nice to give up. With the wasteland! My first comment so you know I'm right😉
Roger that.
Chris... Texas is a big place with a wide variety of climate, vegetation, and wildlife. What part of Texas is this challenge going to take place in? Central Texas has a lot of shrubs... great for machetes, while east Texas has larger trees... better for big choppers. Skinning a squirrel is different than cleaning fish. Southern Texas is more prone to rusting carbon blades, whereas in northern Texas... carbon blades wouldn't be a problem. Can you tell us the region of Texas you guys are going to be in? It would be easier then to select knife choices to suggest. Thanks buddy. Looking forward to this.
I know your phishing for a reason... but we aren’t spoiling anything just yet
Wasteland shortsword and fiddle back companion 😁
JBS BLADEWORKS Hahaha Noted!
I wanna see the terava puukko 140 and the garberg.... which one is better!!!!
They are both legit.. the Puukko for the money just makes sense.
Take the custom Parang you won, the fiddle back camp knife and the Pendleton hunter or pukko for smaller tasks.. one in each size category for specific tasks......plus damn!!! That parang is bad ass!!!
3 Knives!?! Lol Wow! Way to go into the redundancy
@@DropForgedSurvival redundancy is key. Just like having multiple fire options, or first aid..hell if you can squeeze it in why not...plus if a tool goes down and can't be fixed you have a redundant back up!😁 but.....if you're only going with one....PARANG!!!
P.S. and pukko. 😏
Remember 1 is none 2 is 1 and so on
I would go with a KC combo the biggest and the second one
Your welcome, and I would even bring a good Victorinox SAK with me for eating and repairing
Holly crap nice knifw
Can we pick "none of the above"?
I would say the camp knife by fiddleback forge and the parang. Thanks! Great video 👍🏻
Fun Idea!
@Dropforgedsurvival have you seen the battle horse knives battlelore that knife is a beast definitely recommend you check it out!!!!
The first fiddleback forge knife and the parang gets my vote.
Voted is Tallied!
Screw it, just take them all 👍
Riverbendlongbows Outdoors Hahaha Wish! Almost 20 pounds of steel!
Take the one you made outdoor mammas crutch with you, that's big enough then choose your smaller knives.
Vote Tallied! Which smaller one?
Seems like 3 knives would be better: Small, general, and chopper. For small knives, the KC Knives C3. For the general, the Terävä 140, and for large the Helm Forge Parang.
What should I get a bug out bag or a hunting bag
That is very dependent on your needs, budget, and Environment!
Well because I live in Scotland I’ll probably just build a bug out bag and because it’s so hard to hunt here
Take the one you are most comfortable with and you don't mind beating up, a pretty knife is an unloved knife
You are not wrong in this
1) the Helms Forge parang
2) JaakariPuuko 140 (the only knife in your collection that I actually have experience with, haha).
Another Great Idea Bud!
Nice vid
Thanks Aug!
Thanks man I have the bell notifications on so I like to see your vids keep up the good work👍
Nice👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Kalin
Puukko and the skrama. I’d also add the cold steel trail hawk but that’s just cause of the multitude of uses
Interesting Concept
Since it is a challenge, my first pick would be the little carbon mora, and the matchetty in the cowhide sheath, or a pair of the KC knives. The big trail knife, and the little skinner.
Good ideas all around! Thanks for voting and the feedback!
Awesome knives but... man up bring a shovel instead lmao. Just joking bud. Can’t wait for this series!
A shovel you say!?!?! Lol
Nice
Waki for sure! Extra length always helps
Extra Length helps with what exactly?
7:20 It’s a adorable little guy, just with blood and juice on it
I mean... Gotta use my knafes
Are you humping in the gear and staying in the bush? This part matters in deciding on the knives. That being said...
Having played on Bob's little patch of heaven i would suggest the very last knife you showed and a medium weight machete. Re-watching the big knife section of video now....either of the first two you showed. Good luck and can't wait to see the vids.
Wes! Watch our Announcement Video. It explains everything we are Revealing thus far!
watched it on both channels. Pretty vague on the rules but it's all good. I like surprises. Good luck!
I see a lot of votes for the kc knives but I’m going for the Green fiddleback and that parang. And just bring some kind of lube/oil for that rust issue.
Golden Guilder Lube Oil is a Thing!
Kc all day
Roger that Randy
I'd say bring one of the moras. 4" - 4 1/2" blade is my sweet spot for an outdoor blade.
That green handled fiddleback for fiddly work and you know what to choose for the big boy! Wastelands Shortsword, top 3 choppers on the table plus it's long enough to clear brush.
Haha Great Choices!!
I would bring the Mora Garberg, and the machete.
Roger that!
I watch your channel to learn about outdoor tools so I can’t recommend to you as I don’t know much.
But logically speaking I would have 1 reliable knife full tang sturdy knife that can be easily sharpened with good size for bushcraft.
Fair enough
Parang and the little fiddle back
After watching your video months ago I have finally ordered the terrava skrama! They were sold out for so long and it comes in the mail tomorrow!
The Skrama is a beast
@@DropForgedSurvival so curious, why wasn't it an option on the table?
Hi btw good luck with the challenge I wish u the best of luck
Tbanks bud!
Tbanks bud!
The chest rig one
At this moment I am in the woods making char cloth, started to get into this type stuff, got my first quality knife 1095 Ontario sp2 knife, anyways love the videos keep them up.
I would take my Kabar Becker bk7. Of those I would take the Condor atrox and mora bushcrafter.
I wouldn’t take the BK7... Nope. But.... Your choices are a very solid combo!
Fiddleback no questions asked.
Derek Jones That is definitely a comment made in the affirmative
My choice from what you've said all around has got to be the KC trail knife and also I'd take the KC companion knife in Elmax. Both seem like great knives, and I'm sure they make an amazing pair.
A stainless steel blade and one with a high carbon steel blade
Mora garberg and outdoor edge pro edge
Go small... interesting
Would be fun to watch
no Tops or Esee knives?
Esee has garbage handles.... Blade are fine. Tops... I also no like their handles except for 3 of their knives
Jaakaripuukko 140 and this one 7:39
Good combo!
I should say 1) Mora Bushcraft with firesteel and sharpener 2) your prefered machete
Mora is a good budget knife.... but out of every single knife presented!?!?! If it stands then that shall be thy vote
The KC knives are head and shoulders
They are lovely!
plz take the mora garberg
I have that same Mora hook knife, and if you plan to keep it in your pack, I have a recommendation for you. I went to the hardware store, and bought a short length of PVC pipe that the knife fit in fairly snug, glued a cap on one end, and sanded the outside of the pipe on the other so that the cap was decently easy to remove, but still stayed on in pack. I wrap the knife in a red shop towel, and slide it in the pipe, so when I reach into my pack it does not bugger my hand. it also serves to protect the sharp edge. I shot it with some black spray paint just to make it not blaring white.
Good share from your experiences
Id take the mini parang, the Kc trail knife and the Mora Garberg
Ok cool.. 3 knife super combo
