You just may be the hardest working dude in the RUclips Survival/Camping community. 98 comments so far, and you have replied to all of them. Well done sir! Nice video too! I enjoyed your use of B-roll while doing a table too review at the same time. Refreshing format!
Thanks alot Brother. Means alot.
Wow someone who actually can take constructive criticism, rare now a days.
As long as comments are solution driven and not "hell fire and darnation" lol Its worth reading and considering.
They also make phenomenal military weapons…
Apparently there was a Gurkha group in the Middle East and they were about to raid a terrorist compound and they had a translator tell the terrorists to either surrender or be beheaded with Kukris.
They surrendered.
I CANT WAIT FOR THE PREMIRE
Came back from Nepal and bought three Gurkha Khukuris from the Ex Gurkha Khukuri House. Awesome prices and varieties!!! 2 of them are designated the official 11" Service No.1 Khukuris carried by the Nepalese Army. They both come with smaller dagger (karda) and a knife sharpener (chakmak) in the sheath.
Can't wait, loving the content lately brotha ❤
Thanks bud! Means alot
I bought this exact one because of this video, it's the perfect tool. I'm in love with it to this day.
I have an old Nepalese khukuri which I have mounted on my wall. I've also used it to baton wood and have practiced self defense with it a lot. I love mine!
They definitely can handle loads and loads of work.
Just bought one of these yesterday on Tope Nation - Green Micarta with blue liners. I’ll have it by Wednesday. Can’t wait to use it camping camping on Thursday (whether permitting).
Can not wait!!!!!!!!!!😋
I've handled a number of kukri. The blade heavy design and heft is so empowering. I font know of another blade that feels so good working, light or heavy, it wants to chop. And the natural inside curve is a pleasure to run material into and its close to your hand so its effortless. I always think instant amputation holding it lol. Love the kukri.
Hey Chris!! Just want to say thank you for doing an awesome review on this blade for us!! I love your style and that is one rad shelter!! 🤘
~Dan Tope~
Thanks bud.
This was an outstanding execution of this design.
Dan sure killed it with this one. Excellent review brother.
Yes he did.
that was great. I am looking for a big, primary blade & that has it. thank you for your time
I wish my kukri worked the way you say yours does. I’ve put mine through it’s paces though and some cool videos with it
I am making a small water distiller out of a metal canteen and a lid, bought a half inch threaded stainless steel to 3/8 barbed fitting I am going to cut a hole in the lid and screw it in with teflon tape ( Should I try and find a food grade high temp epoxy or caulk of some sort?)and a nut on the under side. with that I have high temperature food grade tubing that will channel the steam to another bottle. The cool thing is you can distill it and get chemicals and others stuff that you could't normally get out with just boiling or a filter. I can also distill salt water which would be helpful in multiple ways. Anyways, thought I'd share.
Cool Video 👍
Thank U for the Info and the Links 👍
Great review
Thanks Michael.
I loved everything about this video
Thanks!
I do love a good Khukuri.
Great review and these kukris are beastly
Thanks Bryan
Good thoughts on the multi design.
Good review dude👍
Thanks Brother.
Thanks Chris this was great
Much Appreciated Luke.
I have several Khukuri blades. But my favourite is definitely my Zombie Tools Vakra. I use it for literally everything that I can. I’ve had it for about 5 years now, and still haven’t had to sharpen it. I just keep her oiled and she’s good to go!
Any quality Khukuri beats every other blade design, in my opinion.
Right on man!
Very Nice Review.... I am a huge tope fan, I have 2 of them... I need a Kukri...
Just got one these from the latest run. Can't wait to get out and use it, just holding it in hand the ergonomics are amazing. I've previously used more conventionally shaped camp knives, as well as the Bark River bolo and parang owned by friends, and some cheap Kukuris. I've developed my preferences based on these experiences and I love the huge flared tail "birds beak" to lock a knife in the hand, this knife has one of the best. I could see preferring a thinner and higher grind compared to the relatively low and un-kukuri like saber grind for chopping. However these kinds of grinds tend to work better for batoning where high flat grinds tend to bind up. Also anyone commenting on price should look up what anything else this size in CPM 3V costs, you're not going to find anything in the "bargain" range using this steel. The fact that these things sell out like hot cakes speaks for itself as far as the value. Thanks again for the review.
IT IS A BEAST! It is one of my Forever Knives
Yeah, I've bought and sold several large knives in the past, but I see this one as a permanent solution. Also a good excuse to get out in the woods and do all the stuff you guys did it with it.
Where i could buy it?
That thing is sweet for sure man. I see you have a Hellkat there as well. That is another force to be reckoned with.
Both are indeed great... but I have always been a sucker for a khukuri
@@DropForgedSurvival yes sir it's a beast as well. It make a good companion to the kukuri. The kukuri is a better chopper though. I've seen it eat through wood with no hesitation. Great great video and test overall brother.
I own several of these, made in Nepal Kukris, but would not touch the blade since they are carbon steel and would rust. They need to be well oiled to avoid rusting. Besides that, I find them very useful for chopping and whittling wood for building fires and shelters - they fill the function of both a knife and an axe pretty well.
Can you do some more Walmart review videos plz I just got into your channel and have been binge watching it I love it
We definitely have a season 2 in the works.
Nice review.
Thanks bud
Super vidéo Chris !
Thanks alot Samuel
I used to own a Kukri, sadly i accidently broke my splitting some small logs, wasnt as sturdy as i had figured. havent gotten another one since. i kept the pieces but it cant really be fixed sinf it had an injection molded handle.
Was it a Traditional rat tang?
@@DropForgedSurvival cold steel kukri baught back in like 2004. handle broke because of the way it was made to hole the molded ruber handle.
I think , about the handle, it is not very "grippy"?
When’s day 6 coming out?
Editing Day 6 Now should be done editing by tomorrow evening.. hopefully.
Nice! Do you by any chance know where I can pick one up?
You gotta contact DAN TOPE on Facebook
I wish to get a khukuri but I hope to own one someday. Right now my best knife is a bark river vidarr
I can’t wait to get mine. I was lucky enough to get one when they dropped.
Wow.. Nice. I heard they sold out in less than 7 minutes.
DropForgedSurvival yea official time from dlt was 6 minutes and 40 seconds
That Khukri,and,a 5 or 6"bladed knife,and you'll rule the World,just add a Leatherman,and a 3"bladed folder.
love the knife
Oh yeah! I am a major Fan of the Khukuris
I have about 12 khukuris, 2 of which are antiques about 120 years old and are 15" and 13". I touched up the edge and they chopped well against seasoned ash, I couldn't resist before I put them on the wall. I have 2 khukuris that are decorative. I have a cold steel Gurkha khukuri in SK5, I've never had any problems, it is a workhorse, and with a full flat grind it cuts well. I have a Madras Arsenal 13" khukuri, it is a bit thinner and has 2 fullers, it's made out of a well heat treated 5160 steel, it cuts amazingly well. I have another khukuri due in from Madras Arsenal that is 14". I have a project khukuri my buddy picked up in Nepal, that is a 7" but the handle broke and the tempering of the blade was poor. I will probably send it off to Paul Bos to have it heat treated. I also have the model 6420 from Ontario Knife Company, which broke do to poor heat treatment and it took months to get a replacement. My nephew was cutting green tree limbs with the OKC khukuri and the blade snapped in half. I have several khukuris from KHHI in Nepal: I have an 18" sacrificial, the Gladiator 12", the 10" workhorse and I'm waiting on a custom 15" Unifier, all except the Gladiator are made out of 5160 steel. The first Gladiator they sent me had heat treatment problems and the tip broke off twice and so did a chunk in the blade (the Gladiator is made out of 52100 steel and not as easy to heat treat as 5160). The people at KHHI were great, I sent a picture of the failure and they will send me a new knife. I also bought a 10" Afghanistan khukuri from EX-Gurkha Khukuri (Everest) off of Amazon. The finish quality was poor and the blade was soft. We do a lot of limb removal, battoning and generally cutting trails with our khukuris. From my experience you are better off to go with a little longer and thinner blade than the short and thick 10" blade.
Nice! I love me some Khukuris
Who is selling this? Can't find it anywhere.
He does small short runs of 95 - 125 blades at a time. This knife sold out for his first run in 2 hours.
Off the wall question .
How good is the SOG brand?
I see they are having a sale at Cabelas for the folding Shovel , Hatchet , Machete and Knife. All for $34.00
Wolf legend i had the 12” kukri one with the saw back. 1/2” bend in edge chopping same size honeysuckle. Not a roll. The whole edge folded over. Worse than gerber imo.
Harry Horwitz so it’s a no go on the SOG ?
Wolf legend - SOG is not a good company for knives or Machetes. This is my opinion but lots of years in the woods camping and hunting about 30 years total.
My older brother has one!
Greater review badass knife I put on my wishlist after my second back surgery then I can retire my Schrade LOL🖒🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Get well brother.
Best modern made NT Khuk there is! @DropForgedSurvival
Not really a surprise that the Kukri is such a capable knife,
It's had over 200 years to be perfected.
Sounds about right
i dont have one because it didnt strike my fancy. what i do have a highly reccomend is the village parang from condor knives. that is a great piece of equipment. you should deffinitly try it you wont want another kind of bush knife.
Parang's, Eneps, Bolo's, Bowies, Etc... All awesome knives. My Preference is a well designed kukri... there are a ton of them out there but only a few I find that work at a exceptional level.
@@DropForgedSurvival i agree with you on that. once you find a good knife or piece of equipment that you like it goes with you everywhere. of all my knives i have i still use my air force survival knife the most. i have had it for years.
Very nice
Thanks bud.
@dropforgedsurvival Is this kukri available... anywhere??
If it is available... You would find it on DLT trading, or Knives Ship Free.
Thanks for responding, but I don't see that it is available. Perhaps these retailers carry the knife, but it certainly doesn't seem to be available to purchase. In fact I can't even find search results for this tool.
I'd like to check one out, but they aren't available. If you have new information about availability, I would appreciate it.
kingtaj it will be available tomorrow at DLT Trading. They will be sold out very very quickly however
Gravy Train Outdoors thanks for the heads up 👍
Hi I love your vids
Means alot Bud.
You should do a catch and cook down by the ocean to
Interesting idea for sure
Can you cut potatos with it
Lmao. Duh
Hey
You should try the "Samekniv", Sami knife in English. It'll cost you, but in return you'll get a knife you could pass on to your grandson and he could pass on to his. Given you take good care of your knife of course. But the Sami Knife is also made as a multitool since they weren't able to carry around on lots of heavy tools in the cold north. I've seen one that was a hundred years old and it looked as good as new.
A sami knife egh? Interesting.

When is the rest of the Walmart challenge video coming out
Day 6 airs on Thursday.
Oooooh. I want one.lol
Like if you want one to.
Certainly would be nice if you could find these for sale somewhere.
They drop today on DLT Trading at 5:30pm Central. I was blessed to test one early
@@DropForgedSurvival Thank you sir(?). I'll be looking for them. I understand the price point is around $395.
Just a great knife design over the ages =)
Definitely a timeless Classic.
@@DropForgedSurvival Looking forward to the 20th =)
What a cool knife, I love it. Who are you with, you keep referring to we?
That's a fucking gorgeous blade.
This is not a lie! lol
I'd fuck with it.
lmao
Hey, Chris. I don't own a true kukri but have long desired an authentic one. I bought a SOG machete-style kukri but the saw teeth along the spine sorta took the "shine" off of it for me, along with chewing into the nylon sheath as it was withdrawn. Cold Steel has one but I haven't pulled the trigger on one of them. I should've had a cousin of mine buy one for me while he was in Nepal a couple years ago, but woulda/shoulda/coulda......lol
This is one of the better designs I've seen for a kukri, and your testing sort of confirms my desire for one again. I was looking it up on Amazon while the video was playing but couldn't find one......then I heard you state the release date, and I felt a bit sheepish haha......oh, well. Do you know what retail/wholesale outlets will have them available? SMKW? Amazon? Sportsmans Guide? Etc?? Just wondering. I guess buying direct from the manufacturer would be good too.....
Thank you for the video. Very well done, sir. I've enjoyed your Wal-Mart challenge video series so far. Keep up the good work.
As far as I know... This will be a DLT Trading Exclusive for the First Launch. I have no clue outside of that. All I know... is I love Kukri's ... ALOT and he is a friend and American Maker... so I put a Kukri through 17 hours worth of use outside for the weekend.
I can’t find this blade anywhere
There were only like 70 of them unfortunately and they sold out in 6 minutes. From what I hear there will be another run soon.
Google ... Himalayan imports or Khukuri house for authentic ones
hows you kid doing
Better now it has been over a month. Thanks for checking in. We are hosting a live stream tomorrow so he can speak with everyone.
What is the price? Love the knife. Great video. Keep them coming!
It is still unreleased.
if you check out the Facebook page all the info on the release will be there
Don’t even care if he gets paid just don’t want it to effect the honesty or anything like what happens to so many other RUclips channels I want honest and non influenced reviews we all have to make money just don’t let effect who and what we are
I'm looking for day 6 and 7 of 100 dollar Walmart survival. Not happy! Still a supporter but want day 6 and 7
I covered that in the livestream. It airs on Thursday.
Ok sorry thank u I'm not always able to see the live streams
You wont lose a subscriber though, saw you in Fowler's Texas survival challenge and really appreciate ur skills as well
Same
Where can I purchase a tops khukri? How much??
You found RUclips, surely you've found that magical site called "Google".
The price on that thing....I knew it'd be high for 3v, but damn. I assume limited product, as it's out of stock everywhere.
Great video. You made a believer out of me.
Glad you enjoyed the Topic of Khukuris!
How is your son doing? Hope he is recovering well. Wow that knfe is a beast, very nice.
He is doing physical therapy everyday and he is trucking along hard day to day
What happened with the 7 day $100 Walmart Challenge I am so interested👌😂
Im editing Day 6 Right now actually. Coming Soon! 4k Footage is a beast!
I’m just not a fan of sharpening this edge geometry.
For me the skrama carbon is better deal with money + performance 😉
I don’t dislike knives like the skrama. Its a good little beater knife... just like A ford focus will get you from a to b.... But sometimes its nice to take a ride in a ZR1.
It's, like an iberian falcata 200 bc
How much is it?
It is still unreleased.
Starting cost for black canvas is 385$
Nice video.
People think their big knives are good choppers but until you try a Kukri or a Woodman's Pal or a Spax, or something with some weight at the far end and a good design you don't really get the part machete part hatchet or axe sweet spot of these designs.
They chop better than big knives.
Yes I've had thick machetes that chop pretty good but not this good.
I still favor a big knife/tool of this type and a small knife as an alternative to a axe or hatchet and "normal" knife and the one big knife concept...
I really don't like the one big knife concept and I'd at least have to carry or strap a Mora basic on me or the big knife's sheath.
The Mora weighs so little and costs so little and It's just better for many tasks
than a big knife.
I'm just using Mora as an example and I could have said anything really including a folding knife...
I could have said a Kephart, an inexpensive one like Old Hickory's...
I've heard the arguments but that's my opinion but A compromise could be a small thicker knife like an SRK if you think you won't carry a big knife...a big knife you might tolerate strapped to a pack but not yourself.
Of the ones I mentioned I think the Kukri makes the most sense to carry but I haven't tried all designs...
if ChrisFix made knife reviews
I WAS WONDERING WHO HE REMINDED ME OF
I’m 834th yes
Glad you are here bud!
Yeah
Wait so are you left handed?
I can only be one of two.
Great review as always! They should do a giveaway through you on your next challenge when you take it! 🔥🚒👩🚒
Thanks Brenda
I'd still take a Condor Bushcraft parang over this. That's a lot of dough.
😱😱😱😱 I LOVE kukris!!!! I have the budget SOG sogfari which is amazing for 25 bucks. Also I have the ka-bar💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 I checked for this and it wasn’t on DLT🥺
Yeah.. As i stated... It doesn’t release until Wednesday the 20th
@@DropForgedSurvival drops tonight at 630pm
Im gathering money to buy a custom made kukri. I made the perfect design for me
This blade looks awesome ! The only flaw I see is that the sheet doesn't allow horizontal carry... :(
That isn’t a flaw... Just a choice. You can always have a custom sheath made by your favorite leather / Kydex Bender
Cutting down fresh trees to show off your knife? Poor trees. Those take a long time to grow!
I like it but over all I think a high carbon steel Bowie that's in the right hands is just as good lol
you are free to think that. Everyone has their own opinion. I just shared mine.
Still is an awesome knife tho
It can be used as a hammer as well.
Not sure I would do that in most cases... but could.
First
My years and years....lol
Im 34.... yeah... Been around a whole minute
@@DropForgedSurvival What knife design did you do as you said?
That's only day five not seven like you said
Im editing Day 6 right now... do you not read the comment section? lol Your the 30th person to ask.
@@DropForgedSurvival where is part 6?
jk
Well sorry
@@DropForgedSurvival lol
I would call that a kopis.
I have 7 Khukuris at home.. in Regards to traditional Kukri's... This blade profile is the closest Modern rendition ive ever seen to pay homage to that Legendary design.
Love the review and the knife but at over 300 bucks on his average knife like this how much kick back do you get seeing as though he sponsored your show on Facebook for this as well not being mean just want a honest you tuber because everything u suggest almost everything anyway u either make or have a backing by your kits you make and gear u test and show at points it makes me wonder if your not promoting more then being honest at this point I love your vids and the gear I have and have test a lot of it and almost always it’s as you said just want a RUclips to be honest as I love watching but don’t just wanna hell you get rich of me trusting your reviews keep up the vids I love em just hope u keep it real and don’t let all this tempt you u seem like a great guy
I didn't get paid at all. He is an American maker and I like testing USA Made as often as possible.
DropForgedSurvival As I said love the vids and the gear never had a problem with that just noticed those things and was wondering many people I know including me have left channels because of this and when testing stuff they had recommended or trying things they had done had failed miserably because they back gear do to the kick back I use to do survival camping trips all the time and now the two kids are to young too do it so I haven’t lately but during those and now I test a lot of gear learned a lot of techniques and coming from a supporter to your channel I test the gear some of it anyway and have never be let down the few times we had issues it was manufacture mistakes or something along those lines I always love the content would love if u did more not budget but sub 50 dollar finds as I see around my area it’s the average spending limit and opens up more then a 30 dollar limit meant no disrespect as I said love ya guys been watching about 1.5 years now and plan to keep it up and love this knife
DropForgedSurvival also could u suggest a good book of knots for my nephew he is gonna start scouts soon and I can’t be there to teach him the knots before he starts and he really wants to learn them before he starts in my area I can’t really find any I see useful mostly just basic stuff any you know of online other then RUclips like a book to keep and take with him
Actually Tying it all together is a fantastic paracording and knots tying channel and its free to watch.
@@ajjohnson3700 $300 won't touch this knife in CPM3V. Sorry dude.
I LOVE YOU CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!😋
Awesome looking knife but the sheath sucks. Needs a nice leather or kydex sheath.
I hate it when companies make a beautiful and functional knife but fail on the sheath.
Speaking generally, manufacturers could at least offer two tiers of sheath or include or not include a sheath with knife so you don't feel like you are paying for, say, some nylon sock you don't want...
I mean some are very half hearted sheaths...
I suppose if it doesn't add much to the cost the very basic ones will always be there but with more expensive knives a choice would be nice...
