I’ll say it here and again, Acura NEEDS a hybrid and the easiest will be the Integra and ADX hybrid. It’s plug and play powertrain swap. EVs can still be the future, but a hybrid shouldn’t require too much further testing and engineering. EV growth is still going to increase, but the growth itself is slowing down. They need to stop being so slow.
It makes sense to have a new small SUV. The RDX has grown to almost the same size as the older MDX. I hope they have a Type-S with the Integra Type-S engine.
Berserk EPA regs force the footprints to grow or the engine size to shrink. It will only get worse every year from now until ICEVs are fully deprecated ~2030.
I dont think Acura expected to be shopping for a new direction, but the GM deal for a smaller BEV collapsed. This is a last minute effort - so don't expect too much redevelopment from the existing Civic/HRV/Integra platform parts bin. It will get the same retuned 1.5t+CVT on premium fuel set-up the Integra got from the Civic Si. Since the HRV(NA)/ZRV (ROW) doesn't have SH-AWD, I dont think Acura will retrofit it. Will the ADX even get Honda's RT-AWD is the bigger question or will they just use the exact Integra drivetrain mechanicals?
Safe to say, could this be the true successor to the Acura CDX that was previously sold in China before it was killed along with Acura China? I hope that they'll consider expanding to other markets with this model as well, especially RHD markets.
Acura really needs to get their game on. They have missed the mark with not having a compact SUV for what seems like forever and having no hybrids. They are following Infiniti in a race to the bottom.
Really hoping for better NVH material and stock tires in the ADX than in the integra. If there's one thing I dislike about it it's the road/wind/tire noise
ADX should be an HRV size/ shape vehicle with the typical Acura chiseled looks, 1.5L turbo engine, AWD, and a multi speed tranny, NOT A CVT. Then they might have something for the HRV buyers as an upgrade. I don’t think there is anyone at Honda with the 🏀 🏀 to make something like this happen.
You’re a wrestling fan too? That’s awesome. I’m also super interested in seeing what comes of this ADX. I’m sure it’s going to be pretty close to be like a HRV for sure. Hopefully get the SH-AWDy treatment and A-Spec and Type S treatment
This will likely be an upsized Euro HRV with versions of the 2.0T/10AT combo considering this is an SUV. It's more favorable to have the CRV 106.3" wheelbase, since they've said it won't be based on any production model.
Nope. There's not enough room for the 2.0t/10AT and the pricepoint for the ADX will be too low. It'll be ZRV (North American HRV) based, not Euro HRV. The Euro HRV is based on the Fit/Jazz platform which isn't produced in North America any longer and its suspension set-up isn't suited to our driving needs here.
@chrissetina1107 What price point are you referring to? This won't be below $35K starting price as people keep wishing/hoping, since every model this is going to compete against starts at near $40k or higher, unless you're counting Buicks, which means the ADX will be closer to $38K to keep it under. You could get 2.0T/10AT Accords cheaper and the transmission/engine costs are spread over several models. Which premium brands besides Buick can you find a CVT in an SUV? I'll wait...🤔🤔🤔
@phild8602 the Lexus UX had a CVT before it went all hybrid. Infiniti QX50 and QX55 still use CVTs (they're a pretty stubborn brand that won't ditch CVTs).
@damilolaakanni None of which are top sellers and the QX twins are more aligned with premium compacts (RDX, GLC, X3, etc.), so they don't count--QX30 would have been more appropriate comparison. In any case, as I mentioned the top sellers XT4 and GLB (9AT and 8DCT, respectively) are more along the lines of what Acura will do, since Acura makes all its models on the larger side of any category. Secondly, using the ADX name allows them distance from any previous or current models. The Integra has always been a Civic, so people think that any model Acura makes has to share a direct platform which is no longer the case (TLX and RDX). The platform is shared with Civic/Integra, HRV and CRV, so scaling it isn't an issue. Lastly, when I spoke of upsized Euro HRV, I was talking about its design (coupish) chunky look because it fits more inline with Acura philosophy.
Meh. It’s going to get just as much hate as the base Integra received. Let’s not hype this up knowing that Honda sticks to a very familiar structure. The ADX will be based off of the HRV. Yes, it’ll have a CVT, yes it’ll be underpowered, yes it’ll be FWD only. The real question is, will it be a hybrid powertrain. With all that said, I expect it to sell well. Enthusiasts might not like it, but the mass market will.
No AWD, no 2.0L-T, no interest. Acura is supposed to be upscale and performance oriented. Duh. Mass market will buy the HR-V, not the overpriced Acura clone. HR-V is not a lifted Civic, it’s a lifted Fit. The CR-V (Acura RDX) is the equivalent Civic SUV. So the lifted Integra would be the equivalent to a “coupe” RDX. They may be similar in footprint but the ADX would be shorter than the RDX. It is similar to the new Toyota 4-Runner being similar length and width to the Land Cruiser, but the Landcruiser is over 5 inches taller.

I think they could go the ADX Type S route by putting the 252hp 2.0T from the previous gen Accord Touring. Also would be interesting if they went the 4-door coupe route with the ADX to compete with the new BMW X2, but given that the Integra is already a liftback, I don't see that happening.
Good for Acura, they badly needed a subcompact CUV for years, assuming it’s based on the Honda H-RV with hopefully the Civic Si 1.5 I4 turbo as the engine, guessing there will be a hybrid setup as while, but one does wonder, will this new smaller CUV hurt Integra sales
I don't think this platform can accommodate the space demands of the rear differential from the SH-AWD system. I wish, Kirk, I really do. But I think this will have a more basic AWD system unfortunately.

Acura should make a TYPE S RDX with at least 320 horses and 340 foot pounds of torque SH AWD making it the high profarmance RDX like the MDX have a type-s , now they are coming out with a ADX. @@chuyzzt1252 There are several regions of the U.S. and Canada where all Honda models that are available as a hybrid outsell the non-hybrid versions. You'd think they'd get the hint and roll it out as an option across the whole lineup.
EVs will be dominated by sub-25k BYDs coming in from Mexico. There is no future in EVs. I hate hybrids and will never buy one, but that is probably the only hope for the big OEMs to survive the coming onslaught of a berserk woke EPA and China.
it's a bad decision for them to announce that they won't do hybrids anymore, I am interested in Acura, but I absolutely need a hybrid or EV(ZDX doesn't count as it's partly GM). I heard that they are working on MDX sized 3 row EV, but it's still not what I want, I just need a RDX EV. I don't need 3 rows. I don't want to keep waiting to be honest. I might ended up with New Pilot if it gets hybrid or maybe refreshed 2026 CRV if it gets more features like Accord's 12.3 inch screen, HUD, ventilated seats and surrounded view camera.
Interesting...!
My big question: will it get a manual transmission like the Integra? (Doubt)
Will it get a 2.0L-T AWD 8 or 10-speed AT (not CVT), else I am not interested.
@@Anonymint-vj7bt I don't think so, manual isn't popular in SUVs, I hardly see any SUV with manual on the market, I could be wrong, but I think there is 0 SUV with manual.
@@blackwhirlwind1245 4Runner apparently still came with a manual. I do not know what percentage were MT. Bronco is available with MT. I think you mean urban SUV versus offroad focused SUV. But I wrote AT which means automatic transmission.
@@Anonymint-vj7bt okay, so there are 2, but both are body on frame off-road SUVs, so in a unibody SUV, there is still 0 available with manual.
Acura is likely to take the easy way out and just use the HRV awd and pair with a 1.5 turbo
Hope it comes with the iconic 10 speed!
I agree with you, Acura just need a hybrid RDX for me to consider getting one from the brand.
Would love a hybrid version of this vehicle please😊
It's a reworked hrv I can see this working but it will have a CVT
Hi Kirk, do you when they will reveal the Rdx?, and if they are giving type s treatment to it?
Integra flying brake?
hopefully they will still keep the TLX, or use better name and better engine motor❤❤😊
@kirk kreifels, So is the ADX what they rumored to be the CDX?
@@chrissetina1107type S
Turbo does not have a good connotation among the mass market, as this is to them reduces reliability. The OEMs better come to grips with most Americans still want powerful engines. The supply of effeminate yuppies is limited.
@@Anonymint-vj7bt you took the time to type all of this bs, and you’re absolutely wrong. People like you said the same thing about the Integra, however it’s now one of Acura’s best selling models. You obviously don’t understand the mass market buyer in this segment. They want something upscale, without an upscale price. That’s the formula of the Integra, which is why it doubles the sales of the TLX now.
@@jr1885 uh Integra sales 2k per month, Civic sales 30k per month, HR-V sales 6 to 10k per month. Get a grip on reality. You wrote mass market, not me. Comparing to the TLX lol, then failing to understand the definition of mass market. IQ much?

crazy that the integra came out released with YELLOW! and black DECALS! and you CAN'T EVEN OPTION THAT!!!! I hope the ADX gets better TECH And Exterior bits! thje integr concept was nice! I hope they incorporate more of the styling of that concept.... the production version is more tame... of course the TYPE S exist but that is 52K+ MSRP!
I hope the ADX is going to be a better integra! ACURA can do this!!!! if this is tops out under 40k! this will be a HOT SELL!
I remember when the first RDX came out! that turbo and the whole vehicle was underrated! that SH-AWD was funnnn
This is a long shot, but I would like to see the ADX compete in the sport hatchback crossover segment, similar to the Toyota Crown Sport.
Aslong as it doesn't have a cvt I'm interested I've always said a hrv with the 2.0t 10 speed and awd would be perfect for me
New Hondas always disappoint us
Would like a plug in hybrid like the new dodge but that’s not happening
It’s gonna be a rally monster
HR-V is not a lifted Civic, it’s a lifted Fit. The CR-V (Acura RDX) is the equivalent Civic SUV. So the lifted Integra would be the equivalent to a “coupe” RDX. They may be similar in footprint but the ADX would be shorter than the RDX. It is similar to the new Toyota 4-Runner being similar length and width to the Land Cruiser, but the Landcruiser is over 5 inches taller.
If this pushes Toyota to bring the Crown Sport over to NA, then yes!
They probably will just redesign the Lexus UX as a response, but base it on the new Corolla Cross platform, or the Crown Sport platform.
There's a Honda Elevate EV or the Honda EN in India and China. It might be ADX in USA. Or is it going to be the 1st collaboration with Nissan Kicks.
I've got my Wheaties and my Coke Zero and I'm buckled in !!! Let's go !!! This news is mildly interesting but when are you going to get your GR Prius? I mean... seriously. Chh.
I think they could go the ADX Type S route by putting the 252hp 2.0T from the previous gen Accord Touring. Also would be interesting if they went the 4-door coupe route with the ADX to compete with the new BMW X2, but given that the Integra is already a liftback, I don't see that happening.
Wish the Integra had the 2.0 with a regular automatic transmission
Needs to be a ACURA CR-V Hybrid! Only thing that makes sense!
I think the style will be more similar to Mach-E idk
I just want a sensibly proportioned and weighted TLX again instead of the massive landwhale I own currently
Any spy footage of this? Any hybrid options confirmed?
Would somebody please make a 6m t all-wheel drive 6 cylinder turbo that isn't a Porsche that cost $156k
Please no more 1.5t applications 😅
A coupe style would be 🔥
Hopefully it will have a 8.1 inch ground Clearance 😮😊❤🎉
I think the mdx refresh should have gotten these headlights
I also thought the RDX and MDX were built in Ohio?
Good for Acura, they badly needed a subcompact CUV for years, assuming it’s based on the Honda H-RV with hopefully the Civic Si 1.5 I4 turbo as the engine, guessing there will be a hybrid setup as while, but one does wonder, will this new smaller CUV hurt Integra sales
I don't think this platform can accommodate the space demands of the rear differential from the SH-AWD system. I wish, Kirk, I really do. But I think this will have a more basic AWD system unfortunately.
Still waiting for the "Type S everything" like the RDX type S or the pike peaks hill climb version, if they use a CVT and the 1.5L then it'll be lacking on the performance side.
Acura needs to ditch CVT's and Honda does too. Honda can do better.
No matter the year you get there will always be a better iteration or something just bit better.
So this will make the fwd type s feel lacking 😤
I would get a type s adx with awd. That would be sick.
I love Double Double E!
HRV ...with 2.0T, and SHAWD will be the recipe to win.
Acura should make a TYPE S RDX with at least 320 horses and 340 foot pounds of torque SH AWD making it the high profarmance RDX like the MDX have a type-s , now they are coming out with a ADX. RDX is good seller they need to give buyers a option with a regular 2.0 turbo charge engine and a high profarmance type S.i hope this ADX is not a snail crawling. Look at mazda cx50 or cx5 with 320 foot pounds of torque with a 2.5 liter engine, more torque than acura.

Damn did Acura finally answer my prayers for an AWD, AT hot hatch? Hell yeah! But the EPA will not allow them to put anything more than that puny 1.5L-T, so meh, not interested. Will buy a 2.0L-T QX30 instead, which is the only Japanese AWD, hot hatch in existence. I do not like the MBZ GLA styling at all. Golf R looks like a cardboard box on shopping cart wheels. What you are forgetting Kirk is that the EPA thresholds are set by footprint area, so the smaller the wheelbase the more penalties for the powerful engine. So no damn way they are putting the 2.0L-T in it. Sorry.
it's not a hatch, it's more like SUV, just like HRV.
@@blackwhirlwind1245 we do not know that yet, but you are probably correct. In that case if it is a tall canopy shrunken footprint RDX, then i am not interested at all. QX30 for me.

The 1.5 engine is having head gasket problems in Hondas, so is it only matter of time before Acuras with the same engine suffer the same fate?
I don’t get the turbo 4 mentality. It’s less efficient than Hondas v6 and doesn’t push the same either. My wife’s 2020 pilot gets like 6-8 mpg better than my 2023 TLX advance. And we drive basically the same places
V6 was too reliable needed direct injection cause more issues so profit more
I think they do it because emissions regulations are getting fairly stringent, so companies usually have to retire larger NA engines and replace them with smaller turbocharged ones to keep their cars on the market.
@@l.seventh7954 complete ignorance here but isn’t 23 mpg “cleaner” than 17 mpg?
@@rondeforest8010 no not necessarily. You are the one who is ignorant. Do not conflate fuel economy with tailpipe emissions.
