@@motorcityminer Hello, friend, can you tell me when you bought it and how much it mined? Are you satisfied with the device? Are there any better miners under 500watts? If i want to buy this 1 in the shop, it seems not possible with power adaptor? Is this profitable with the price of electricity?
ones on Indiegogo labeled "Full Set" include psu. profitability will depend on your personal electrical rate. Under 500 watts there are a few better miners but they will cost you a lot more (i.e. Goldshell KA box, AL Box, etc.)
Pre bitcoin halving, at current cost of BTC, about $0.42. So not much, more just cool approachable entry point product in the crypto space which beats anything else at this price point.
Canaan is selling direct through Indiegogo (Asian Kickstarter): www.indiegogo.com/projects/avalon-nano-3-blockchain-smart-home#/ Project is already fully funded and shipments in progress.
They not ship to Thailand 😞.... This machine makes 40 cents a day before electric. I think only very useful for solo mining 🙂and heating the house on top.
When I look at the link provided the price is in Euros. You show a page with the price in dollars. I'm in the southeast of the US. How do I know if I'm getting a unit from a US distributor? I do not want to deal with Customs charges. Thanks.
It is a website cookies setting. If you hover over Euro at end of the total raised amount at top of page, you should get a pop-up that says "Edit Currency Settings". This is a currency setting site wide across Indiegogo and you should see all currencies in the selected currency. You can change to USD there. Note these units all ship from Singapore as that is where Canaan is located. They do not have these new units in their US warehouse yet.
Is it possible the "mining management" doesn't work in this video because your Nano is on your guest network while you are on your production network? The other options might be cloud base settings which is why they work but mining management might be a local thing.
You should be able to manage your nano from anywhere in the world w/ the app. The issue I was having was indeed fixed in an app update after filming. Haven't had any issues since.
@@jerrysanders9101 they just posted an update on their Indiegogo page. You will get an email notification from indiegogo when the status of your contribution is marked "Locked".
Yeah, new orders at this point are for June Batches. They have been updating the ship date for orders as they came in. Earlier purchases had March/April/May ship dates.
So with the Halving right around the corner, it will take you almost 2 years for it to pay for it self, that's excluding the power comsuption. I don't do any mining but does the amount you earn affected by the price of Bitcoin?
Yes, the amount earned is directly correlated to price of bitcoin. So unless bitcoin sees some large price appreciation it will indeed take a long time to ROI this miner. This miner is really meant more as solo lottery miner and heater at this price and hashrate.
Payed the extra got one from ebay and within 2 hrs of startup it's not working. Applied the update and changed mining pool and it's now not working. Got any good connections for trouble shooting?
Sorry to hear your troubles. Was the unit still sealed? Best bet would be to reach out directly to either who sold you the item or Canaan support: www.canaan.io/supports/
@motorcityminer it was sealed but I went about the red panda way and put heat sinks on it to keep it cool. Voided the warranty. But I reached out to the site I bought it from waiting to hear a response
@motorcityminer i tried looking at the board didn't visually see anything. Doesn't have that smell either. Seemed to be working until I updated it. Hopefully it's something from the update. Would have made for a good video.
So with halving next week for BTC and assuming 0.20 kwh all in electricity costs + $70K BTC spot price, ROI on this is looking close to 2 years. What I'm wondering is, what if you hooked this up to a Kano or NiceHash to generically mine 256. They reward you in BTC. Currently ROI would be a year. But would this also get halved next week or is it only if you are mining BTC directly in a pool or solo mode? Cheers.
So Nicehash rents SHA-256 algo which you get paid for. Only BTC has halving next week (BCH already had a few weeks ago, other SHA-256 coins vary). To predict how earnings on Nicehash will be affected is rather hard since it depends what SHA-256 coins your specific machine is rented for. Majority of rentals are for BTC and thus when mining after halving will affect earnings by 50%. But since in theory your machine could be rented for other coins that don't have halving those earnings would remain the same. So, if I had to guess, I would expect slightly less than a true halving in earnings on Nicehash, maybe 40%-45%. But again, really hard to predict as solely dependent on demand for each SHA-256 coin on Nicehash
right now w/ the current value of bitcoin, about $12-15. post halving will be half that. but again solely depends on price of BTC. this is definitely space heater first, novelty miner 2nd.
Do not waste your money. Unless your electricity is free. Most people using these rigs make less than a dollar a month NET, after paying for electricity. Where I live it would cost me $16 per month to run this 24/7. If I make 30 cents per day, $9 per month of BTC, I end up losing $7 per month. The play is to assume your BTC will double in price in a few years, but I would not hold your breath.
You do understand this is marketed as a heater for at a workstation right? Just happens to mine BTC and have higher hashrate than anything else at this low price point. So, it's a well built mini space heater that offsets some of its costs w/ BTC. Or just use as a lottery miner, still better buy than any other lottery miner.
@jcbsportscards6841 will depend on the pool you use. Some pools you use your BTC wallet address as your account and would payout without issue. Other pools require "account" such as the example in the vid, where you would then have to add a BTC address to your account for them to payout too.
It's a solo miner right? It doesn't mine crap till it finds a block right? Chance per block: 1 in 144,595,000 Chance per day: 1 in 1,004,132 Time estimate: 2,751 years
Correct, if running as solo lottery miner those are about the odds. You can run on pool mining though as well which will have minimal $0.20-$0.30 earnings a day
They have been selling in batches on Indiegogo. Current listings state June delivery, while earlier purchases had March/April/May delivery dates depending on when purchased
will depend on electrical rate especially post halving but yes this is more a cool little novelty item meant to be a lottery miner and workstation space heater. You cannot fully setup on computer. You have to use the app to first connect the unit to wifi. Once connected to wifi, you can access the unit through its local IP address which can be seen in the upper left corner of the screen on the unit.
Yep, made an error there on the screen reading. And should have mentioned I meant for zero fee payouts ViaBTC seems to be lowest. Will clarify in forthcoming follow-up.
@@motorcityminer no worries mate... I appreciate you and the video you made here... I ended up purchasing 4 nano's as a result. But are you sure no withdrawal fee's a viabtc? Seems they have one of the highest fees out there, 3.5-4%
ViaBTC can be very high if you set a payout below 0.001 or you use on demand payouts. However, if you set BTC payouts above 0.001 and to "automatic" they offer fee free withdrawal which is the lowest fee free withdrawal I am aware of for a BTC pool. Automatic payouts are processed once daily once threshold is met.

In the app at the very bottom there is "Mining management" button. Unfortunately, that didn't always work as there seems to be some bugs in the app yet. You can also input by logging into the miner through web GUI using local IP address. I walk through both methods in the setup portion of the video. The app way is the easiest, if you can get it to work that is.
see my other response to you, but you will unfortunately have to use the app to at least get the unit connected to wifi before you can do remaining setup on computer.
Thanks! It was a fun experiment. Optimal power to performance on most S9's is about 8.1-8.3v to the hashboards, seems to end up under 700w every time if you keep them @ 8.2v or less. I ended up using Hiveos rather than Braiins os in the end, which was surprising. Braiins seemed to be better at first, but once I tuned the chips manually with Hiveos then re-ran the autotune, then tuned again manually, Hiveos turned out superior. Now I'm considering modding the PSU's to deliver around 5-6v just so I can put silent fans on the things and use them as heaters lol Sorry for the long winded reply, hopefully it was interesting xD

If you use Indiegogo and cancel the tip amount, should definitely be $127 USD w/ PSU (not including shipping). Indiegogo does list in Singapore dollar at various points in checkout so might also cause confusion. Shipping will depend on your location. Even just within the USA I have known people to get anywhere from $12 to $76 quoted in checkout. Assume it depends on amount of hubs it must go through to get to you.

lol, yeah this is more a cool little novelty item but awesome compared to the competition at the price point and approachable to those looking to get into BTC mining.
These mini miners are total scams. Pools have minimum thresholds you need to reach before a payout and these things would take literally forever to reach that then most of it would be taken in pool fees and gas fees. You'll never make anything from this
yeah this is more a cool little novelty item most meant to be a lottery miner and workstation space heater. But it is awesome compared to the competition at the price point. For payouts w/o fees, ViaBTC seems to have lowest threshold of the major pools at 0.001 which would be quite a few months w/ only a single 4TH unit. Braiins will allow payouts at 0.0002 BTC which is much more achievable but does have fees
very true @justh0dl. I sometimes forget how many people use nicehash and it typically pays out higher for miners due to demand cost of rental anyway. maybe i'll put one unit on nicehash and one on viabtc for comparison of earnings.
@@motorcityminer NiceHash payment thresholds are pretty high. Honestly I bought 2 L3+ used for $50 each. I rent the hash rate out on miningrigrentals and earn about $5 a day. When they aren’t rented they just click back to the pool I want them mining on it’s been insanely profitable
I don't see how to get profitable. even with a more efficient S19 and I get 3818,88 kWh / month (COST here ~ $1350) while earning 0,0000344 BTC (EARN currently ~$2,4). Do I miss anything?
At current value of BTC, most miners are indeed unprofitable at most electric rates especially your very high rate of $0.35 KWh. Typically you will want at least below $0.10 KWh rates for crypto mining to be profitable and even then depends on coin and current value. The specific model in this vid is no exception but at only 140w can be used as a lottery miner for relatively cheap
A mini box miner is way more efficient than one of these. Which is why I have a mini doge and a couple of KD boxes. Better ROI and heating ability for the money. ROI on one of these is going to be 3 to 4 years. So not worth it.
Do not waste your money. Unless your electricity is free. Most people using these rigs that make a profit, make less than a dollar a month NET, after paying for electricity. If you want a toy, go for it. IMO if you're going to spend a hundred bucks and make zero money, you may as well solo mine and hope you catch a block. At least you have a chance of a big score, and in the end, you are not spending any more than you would for this waste of money.

ok, proof? They def work as workstation space heater. Wife uses it at her desk as she is typically cold and this gives decent heat in the immediate vicinity (no it will not heat an entire room but again not what it is marketed as, it is a desktop heater, room heaters are like 500w device minimum typically and cost way more to run), and I get some BTC or play the lottery depending how I feel. Not sure what you're not getting here? It's not for everyone but does have a use case as small space heater/novelty miner which is exactly what it is marketed as.
@@motorcityminer The only proof I need is the title of your click bait video - "Destroys All BTC Mini ASICs" - oddly missing from the click bait title is the word "heater". 160 watts (ie, a hundred watt and a sixty watt light bulb) is not going to warm anyone's fingers or toes anywhere in, around, on top of or under a "workstation". You're lying to your audience and people without the money to spend on this crap will waste their hard earned money and end up with a larger electric bill so you can shill this crap. Uhm, it does destroy all mini BTC ASICs on performance, price, and build quality. Please find me a single BTC ASIC that can do 4TH and costs under $150 dollars. or does 4TH at 140w. I'll wait... Oh and clearly you don't understand basic science or else you would now a 160w lightbulb would output a completely different amount of heat than a computer since much of the energy in a light bulb turns into... wait for ... light... duh... whereas a computer outputs... heat... and i guess in this case wifi radio waves which are negligible energy wise. Please go tell anyone who has ever run a GPU @ 140w that it creates no noticeable heat on their gaming desk and see what they say. Also, I ain't shilling anything. @@motorcityminer Hello, friend, can you tell me when you bought it and how much it mined? Are you satisfied with the device? I wanted to know how many dollars it gives per day, and also how much it gives out per month? one is worth buying or buying from the Internet ready-made sites that sell speeds for money in order to get bitcoins.... CryptoTab browser
Goldshell KA box, AL Box, etc.)
how much does it earn daily? excluding electric cost
Pre bitcoin halving, at current cost of BTC, about $0.42. So not much, more just cool approachable entry point product in the crypto space which beats anything else at this price point.
Since you bought it and used it how much have you made and what coin do you mine with it?
right now they are mining btc and have earned about $7 each
@@motorcityminer is that 7$ a month or in total since you posted this video?
since posting the vid
Cool device. You mention that it can be used as a lotto miner? Would the setup change at all for that vs pool mining?
Not very much, just change the pool address the miner points too
As @RainBitcoins mentioned, just change the pool stratum info to a solo pool of your choosing.
Where are these available???
Canaan is selling direct through Indiegogo (Asian Kickstarter): www.indiegogo.com/projects/avalon-nano-3-blockchain-smart-home#/
Project is already fully funded and shipments in progress.

Yup,had to pull the trigger on some too😆
Low yield, but only $100, so might as well get some BTC while heating the house.

Hopefully they can help. Wonder if something got short circuited while adding the heatsinks?
@motorcityminer i tried looking at the board didn't visually see anything. Doesn't have that smell either. Seemed to be working until I updated it. Hopefully it's something from the update. Would have made for a good video.
Hey does the psu come with it would hope?
You can purchase with or without PSU on Indiegogo. "Full Set" is the option w/ PSU.
How much does it mine on avg,
About $0.4-0.5 a day pre-halving.
How can this be configured to try bitcoin solo mining?
easiest way is to point at a solo pool such as solo.ckpool.org:3333 in the stratum information
@@motorcityminer what if I have my own full bitcoin node? do you know to configure it to solo mine with a node?
Better power rating for the hash then my S9
Is that the power supply it comes with it?
yes it is
so what does that equate to per month.
right now w/ the current value of bitcoin, about $12-15. post halving will be half that. but again solely depends on price of BTC. this is definitely space heater first, novelty miner 2nd.
Can i use it to mine Lite coin?
No, Litecoin uses the Scrypt algo. This is a SHA-256 miner so Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV, etc.
This little beast is surely powerful.❤ It will definitely give you surprise🎉
great miner, gonna check it out
Do not waste your money.
Chance per block:
1 in 144,595,000
Chance per day: 1 in 1,004,132
Time estimate: 2,751 years
Correct, if running as solo lottery miner those are about the odds. You can run on pool mining though as well which will have minimal $0.20-$0.30 earnings a day
These devices look really good, I've got 1 on order
When did it say it shipped? You order off indie gogo? I ordered and total was $210
They have been selling in batches on Indiegogo. Current listings state June delivery, while earlier purchases had March/April/May delivery dates depending on when purchased
probably not a single customer of theirs will make a dime from it.
will depend on electrical rate especially post halving but yes this is more a cool little novelty item meant to be a lottery miner and workstation space heater. But it is awesome compared to the competition at the price point and makes Bitcoin mining accessible to those wanting to dip their toes in which hasn't really been the case in BTC mining for years at this point.
Most people don't buy miners like this for profitability unless they have super cheap/free power. They're mainly for lotto mining.
Great video, but the price for US customers is $219.00
Yeah, so seems shipping costs are all over the place, even for those in the same country. about $0.40-0.50 USD revenue depending on BTC value at the moment. Profit will then depend on your electric rate.
How much it make a month ?
around $6 a month after the halving. this is meant more as a lottery device
How is it going to handle bitcoin halving?
it will earn half as much per block not including fees which are variable on the network.
Do you have a link for a US shipper?

I'm still a little confused on how you set it up with your computer
You cannot fully setup on computer. You have to use the app to first connect the unit to wifi. Once connected to wifi, you can access the unit through its local IP address which can be seen in the upper left corner of the screen on the unit.
I asked a lot of these questions halfway through the video before I finish the video so you ended up answering the question

Getting all of them running 8-9th @ 650-700w took weeks. rip
That's pretty good OCs for an S9. Impressive!
Now I'm considering modding the PSU's to deliver around 5-6v just so I can put silent fans on the things and use them as heaters lol

lol, yeah this is more a cool little novelty item but awesome compared to the competition at the price point and approachable to those looking to get into BTC mining.
These mini miners are total scams. Pools have minimum thresholds you need to reach before a payout and these things would take literally forever to reach that then most of it would be taken in pool fees and gas fees. You'll never make anything from this
This is such bullshit lmao. You can withdraw via lightning after 1 day on nice hash.
yeah this is more a cool little novelty item most meant to be a lottery miner and workstation space heater.
So not worth it.
yes, this is more a novelty lottery miner but does significantly beat all other bitcoin miners in its class on all fronts.
Do not waste your money. Unless your electricity is free. Most people using these rigs that make a profit, make less than a dollar a month NET, after paying for electricity. The play is to assume your BTC will double in price in a few years, but I would not hold your breath.
On most web sites it is being sold as a "desktop heater" that can mine BTC.

I bought this, receive nothing for discussing it, and just say it how it is. There is no other bitcoin miner that has this performance at this low cost that makes bitcoin mining accessible to most if interested.
Do yourself a favor and actually use any bit of logic before you make yourself look like a fool again.
Good video but not profitable
yeah, depending on kwh price, either barely profitable or not. Really meant as a solo lottery miner and a fun novelty item to get into Bitcoin mining.
I ordered 2 because @MotorCityMiner told me so
Same here 🤣
