@@Nimrod066 Aside from music and art theft post her selling out when she became Gaga, people seem to forget that . . . She relied on controversy to the point that she thought it was a good idea to bring the world's LARGEST and most FAMOUS , KNOWN and PROVEN sexual predator and molestor out of retirement( Who got away with it ) and decided to do a song she knew would garner attention " Do What U Want With My Body " with him. Y'know, despite her saying she was a victim of sexual abuse? ( doesn't add up to me. ) and put her fans at risk during live shows with him til he was replaced after the very minor backlash she got.. ( Where do you think he picked up the everal girls he is being charged with now? Likely live shows) but y'know " Do What U Want With My Body " but next year rape and sexual abuse isn't cool. We're going to cover it up and pretend it never happened, post some tweets about Ke$ha in support of her ( Like every other damn human being during the time ) But somehow she does it and gets WOMAN OF THE YEAR.
I mean, if Lana Del Rey is slept on . . . what is Florence? Florence has directly inspired every modern female artist in the Indie genre on some level and even Beyonce's album " 4 " according to Beyonce as a MAJOR influence. Aurora is heavily inspired by her, Lorde has said she is majorly inspired by her and is a huuuuuge fangirl to the point both of them do similar choreography to Florence, Aurora wears the same dresses and Lorde's entire " Yellow Flicker Beat " video is a tribute to Florence's " Sweet Nothing " with Calvin Harris from the look to the background, etc. Plus Lorde cited her as a huge inspiration for Melodrama, especially the hit " Green Light " then of course there is HAIM. She and LP influence one another as well. Hell, One Republic liked their first hit so much they practically remade Dog Days Are Over. Tambourines and all. The woman sings about fighting demons, running around barefoot in a pink nightie. She jumps off stages, breaks her foot and runs through a crowd on a broken foot for a performance. She wrote a song about the Orlando night club shooting and dedicated a song to its victims when people mostly stopped caring. The woman is a legend.
I would of put Lana in here because she’s basically the reason that the alternative genre came back. She’s the one that got success of the “sad girl” image and made labels more willing for artists to do darker albums

Katy Perry deserves to be on this list based on the Teenage Dream era alone, that era was the epitome of a "perfect pop era" with such an effortless and creative execution and every move being an event, breaking countless of records, serving LOOKS that were never the same but still all perfectly in her brand of colorful and fun imagery, and a flawless videography that is always so creative yet each video so different from the other in terms of themes and storytelling. Lord knows how many bubblegum pop artists we've seen after Katy made a mark with TD in the mainstream radio. Prism only made her bigger. And not to mention her music has always been incredibly positive, hopeful and forward-thinking amongst all the other female artists which is pretty rare in the industry to keep that consistency in the themes. She is such a pop icon for this decade.
I personally don't think witness was as bad as people make it to be but it definitely was nowhere close to Katy Perry standards. And tbh her change of appearance also had an effect on it. Sadly, looks matter. Her new album really good and NRO would've been mega popular if she had promoted it.

Not only her lyrics, she is also a really strong woman and influenced a lot of people. A lot of people in the music industry always compliment her and talk about how she is so influential and impactful.
Lady Gaga’s impact is underrated by other fanbases. Credit where credit is due. -Lady Gaga was the first in our generation to start calling her fans a name. It all began with “Monsters” and “Little Monsters” which was a theme on her album at the time. The trend picked up wind amongst everyone else. It was a thing with some other artists before but Little Monsters made it commonplace. The fan base has since moved on from the trend signaling an end. This fanbases usually sets the tone. -A resurgence of heavy synth pop that had died down previously to Gaga’s debut. She reinvigorated pop while it was being smothered by alternative indie and soft R&B. Madonna called it “Reductive”, we call it rebirth. -performance spectacle. After Gaga, suddenly everyone wanted/needed a moment. Wearing trash bags on the red carpet (Kesha). Having an exorcism on stage that had nothing to do with anything (Nicki Minaj). Wearing avant garde looks on the red carpet all of a sudden (Katy Perry). And the list goes on and on. -It was Lady Gaga’s fans that started the trend of calling different period’s of the singer’s career “eras” bc every moment was distinctly different from her last. -And abbreviating the pop star’s upcoming albums by initial and sequential order: LG6, AG6, LDR7, TS8 etc. -Her comeback, stripping down the drama and surrealist spectacle for a simplistic music origin story in Joanne. Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus and more would follow suit with their “comebacks” and “image” changes.

" Second Time Around " is Aguilera's Genie in a Bottle. " Dance In The Dark " - Uhm, Depeche Mode's Strange Love? " So Happy I Could Die " is pretty similar to Natasha Bedingfield's Pocketful of Sunshine and " Fashion of His Love " is UNDENIABLY Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody . . . and you can name plenty more. Nice video man, I just want to point out two things: -In my opinion, Miley doesn't deserve to be on this list, she didn't shape the pop industry and wasn't an inspiration for any particular artist. -THANK YOU for pinpointing that Lady Gaga invented the 2010's pop culture. If it wasn't for her, about half of the artists on this list wouldn't blow, since their style is heavily inspired by 2008's or 2009's Gaga.

if the industry didnt pay them dust, then Tinashe and Janelle Monae would've been on this list, i also think lana del rey should be on this she changed the industry and pop music overall in terms of bringing alternative pop and whisper singing to the mainstream, making record labels give artists creative control on more dark, alternative based music, and being one of the most impressive artists to built a huge international cult following through social media and continue success without following current trends and even topping the billboard hot 100. I’m glad you said my girls Selena and Kesha in the honorable mentions. I do have a question, would you do a separate video about the honorable mentions girls that you listed ? I do believe that it would be a great video!
That's just saying she had the largest number of hits . . . which is depicted by popularity . . . which is depicted by being on trend . . . which is depicted by appealing to a younger audience. That award doesn't mean she is anywhere remotely near the most talented or the best writer and it doesn't even imply she is a good performer.
Kesha definitely should've been on this list. She's one of the main artists who defined this decade with her massive hits and collaborations, and her song TiK ToK is the best selling digital single of all time. And let's not forget that she single-handedly started the #MeToo movement.
My predictions before watching this: Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Adele, Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey, Kesha, Halsey Edit: I never really saw Sia as being impactful in terms of her own music, but she’s certainly iconic! And I’m so glad that you included Miley because she’s typically underrated due to her lack of high charting singles throughout the decade! And I would include both Demi Lovato and Carly Rae Jepsen in the honorable mentions. Demi is the only other artist aside from Adele known for their ballads. She’s had a lot of success and many younger artists including the ex members of Fifth Harmony view her as an idol. Carly on the other hand has released on of the biggest hits of the decade that’s easily recognizable and memorable. Plus, her albums are always critically claimed. This is especially true for Emotion which is considered one of the best albums of the decade next to Lemonade and Melodrama by some. Otherwise, I agree that everyone you mentioned should be on this list!
Carly Rae Jepsen would be unknown if it was for Katy, because Katy denied the song "Call Me Maybe", the song was passed to Carly Rae Jepsen where it became a smash hit.
KESHA! She released the most inspiring music, practically started the Me Too movement, and came back stronger than ever! She encourages people to be themselves and not care about what others think. She truly was so iconic.
I thought I would see P!nk. Her live performances greatly challenges every performer creatively and vocally - a top tier entertainer and musician. She is the first woman to win the Legend of Live award and has the highest grossing tour for a woman in over a decade. One of her concert entered being one of the highest grossing tours of all time and is the second highest female grossing tours, only behind Madonna’s.
This video made me realize just HOW iconic lady gaga is. She went from the fame (monster), where she was labelled just another pop girl, to born this way just barely two years later, also marking the start of widely recognized lgbt activism and the start of the btw foundation. Then ARTPOP and cheek to cheek, an edm and a jazz album, were released within a year of each other, only to go to a whole different genre again with joanne, then also branching out into acting on tv and starring in an oscar winning movie, then getting a vegas residency while developing her make up brand and then in 2020 releasing another pop album. The fact that it's been 7 years between ARTPOP and Chromatica, but she's constantly been busy and putting out material, shows just how versatile and hard working she is. She's been giving us new fully realized characters by the minute (Remember jo calderone?), while always beeing authentic and unapologetically herself, not only through her music and fashion. And ALL THAT in just over a decade?!?! Holy crap! Really, who is doing it like her?
Not to mention she's killing it in the movie industry. (ASIB, now Gucci) and we'll definitely see her rise again after she sings Top guns opening song and C2C2 (also sadly Tony's final album)
Is It weird that i feel like crying after this video? I know we're talking about these amazing incredible singers, but their history has also become my own, and i feel so safe knowing they're out there. The impact they've made is undescribable.

Plus Lorde cited her as a huge inspiration for Melodrama, especially the hit " Green Light "
then of course there is HAIM. She and LP influence one another as well. Hell, One Republic liked their first hit so much they practically remade Dog Days Are Over. Tambourines and all.

TAYLOR SWIFT ARTIST OF THE DECADE also stan queen ari
Why is taylor is such a industry giant????
BECAUSE OF HER LYRICS !!!!!!!!!!!!
Not only her lyrics, she is also a really strong woman and influenced a lot of people. A lot of people in the music industry always compliment her and talk about how she is so influential and impactful.
It’s because she’s a smart business woman. She also promotes her albums with catchy, radio-friendly pop songs to boost her record sales.
Shady Tyrell I swear they never credit her where it’s due. Yes, she was a little too inspired by Madonna on Born This Way but that was ONE SONG. Like? They try to discredit everything she does.
But are we going to bring up her selling out? What about the art theft? OH will you be covering the music theft? . . . Are we going to mention her knowingly, putting her fans at risk or her reliance on contoversy?
I mean , after all she did bring the world's most famous sex offender out of retirement, line his pockets with cash, decide she wanted HIM for " Do What U Want With My Body " and said " Yeah, I want that near my fans. "
But next year isn't cool, rape and molestation is bad and we're going to be there for Ke$ha because #WomanOfTheYear
@@ravenclaw17 To be fair, even if people don't hear Madonna's Express Yourself, SNSD 's " Be Happy " came out before Gaga's Born This Way.
It's also way more than one song. " Alejandro " is more than just heavily borrowed. I mean, " Don't Turn Around " by Ace of Base is practically the same song and a lazy execution. It's too samey to call it an inspiration.
" Second Time Around " is Aguilera's Genie in a Bottle.
" Dance In The Dark " - Uhm, Depeche Mode's Strange Love?
" So Happy I Could Die " is pretty similar to Natasha Bedingfield's Pocketful of Sunshine
and " Fashion of His Love " is UNDENIABLY Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody . . . and you can name plenty more. Most of them being from the 80's which we know she is a huge fan of, but how likely is it that she only copies the hits of these 80's stars she literally states she is a huge fan of and doesn't notice?
Not underrated bc little monsters will drag anyone who insults Gaga even if it's just constructive criticism
Watching a ton of 2010s decade mashups these last few days there's no denying Katy really shaped the decade..
She has some of the most recognized songs globally
Taylor swift music is so relatable and great song writing from her
Nice video man, I just want to point out two things:
-In my opinion, Miley doesn't deserve to be on this list, she didn't shape the pop industry and wasn't an inspiration for any particular artist.
-THANK YOU for pinpointing that Lady Gaga invented the 2010's pop culture. If it wasn't for her, about half of the artists on this list wouldn't blow, since their style is heavily inspired by 2008's or 2009's Gaga.
Yes!! I honestly feel like her and Lana were the most influential and literally shaped the 2010s pop culture. Lana's persona paved ways for so many alternative/ pop acts.
Queens
Nikolas Poulios it’s not only about Miley’s music it’s about her iconic shift in eras and how she went back to her roots that gives her the spot.
After Miley’s 2013 VMA performance the world changed. Music was more about ass, twerking became a big thing, etc. she basically shaped the latter 2010s
Patri6k D3mps3y the black community and black artists would say otherwise
Miley and Gaga are my favorite
if the industry didnt pay them dust, then Tinashe and Janelle Monae would've been on this list, i also think lana del rey should be on this she changed the industry and pop music overall in terms of bringing alternative pop and whisper singing to the mainstream, making record labels give artists creative control on more dark, alternative based music, and being one of the most impressive artists to built a huge international cult following through social media and continue success without following current trends and even topping the billboard hot 100. Her albums have topped the charts and been best sellers making her one of the few artists along beyonce, adele, taylor swift and kendrick lamar that letting everyone know Albums Still Matter
Malcolm 1097 yesss taste😍😍😍
Janelle Monae Dirty Computer is one of the best albums of 2018 it was so gooood
@@schleich13ilyan78 right I still blast that record to this day. Janelle deserves better
Great channel.
Taylor swift did that with ONE pop album. Her power.
loving this channel. huge fan of all of these artists. personally would say gaga is above taylor but that is an insanely close call. if we look at the things gaga has done to be of influence i feel that she's done more, especially with the recent oscar and golden globes. regardless awesome video please never stop.
It warms my heart when Sia is recognized for the legend she is
I love sia but to be honest in my opinion, she has to replace with lana
I would've given Kesha a spot. Her comeback is historic, and her music before and after is wildly different, successful and trendsetting.
Not really. Her comeback was short lived and now she’s faded away into irrelevancy
RyderC Daniels very not true. she pretty much started the Me Too movement by speaking out and taking action against Dr. L*ke. She was one of the first pop girls to start her career and a bad girl and smoothly transitioned into who she is today. She endured so much abuse and was able to capture that in a timeless record that got her her first 2 grammy nominations and her performance at the Grammys was the most talked about and praised of the night.
She seriously fell off after Timber came out
U forgot to Mention the powerful performances Beyoncé has and the growth she’s had as an artist
Fantastic video as always! Do you think you'll cover Halsey's album Manic when it releases later this month? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it! Again, great video, I love seeing your takes on pop music!

Yea lady gaga did more but go awf
@@edwardandres6639 I LOVE Gaga! But I think we all know on an IMPACT scale Beyoncé had more. But the really need to team up again. Telephone and Video Phone SLAPPED! Hopefully on LG6 she'll collaborate with Bey again and we can the last part to the Paparazzi/Telephone trilogy.
Stay mad, taylor broke so many record in 2010's... She owned that decade
My list :-
1.Taylor Swift - She’s never really flopped and she’s amazingly talented and smart and a GOOD soul
2.Rihanna - She’s loved by EVERYONE
3.Beyoncé - She’s ICONIC
4.Lady Gaga - She reinvented POP Music
5.Katy Perry - She has the most ICONIC hits
6.Adele - She’s always relevant without releasing much
7.Nicki Minaj - She’s consistent
8.Ariana Grande - She’s rising at a very quick rate
9.Selena Gomez - She’s known and recognized by so many worldwide
10.Miley Cyrus - People really know who she is
please selena putting selena in there is disrespecting rest of actual artist's
I’m glad you said my girls Selena and Kesha in the honorable mentions. I do have a question, would you do a separate video about the honorable mentions girls that you listed ? I do believe that it would be a great video!
Haters gonna hate, Taylor is still the Artist of the Decade
*one of them
Ehh she’s ok
That's just saying she had the largest number of hits . . . which is depicted by popularity . . . which is depicted by being on trend . . . which is depicted by appealing to a younger audience.
That award doesn't mean she is anywhere remotely near the most talented or the best writer and it doesn't even imply she is a good performer.
iTeacupPanda tea!!
@@iTeacupPanda But shes a good writer and a good performer as well as talented...
Kesha definitely should've been on this list. She's one of the main artists who defined this decade with her massive hits and collaborations, and her song TiK ToK is the best selling digital single of all time. And let's not forget that she single-handedly started the #MeToo movement.
My predictions before watching this:
Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Adele, Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey, Kesha, Halsey
Edit: I never really saw Sia as being impactful in terms of her own music, but she’s certainly iconic!
Beyoncé may not sell the most albums but she is definitely recognized as the most powerful person in music
KESHA! She released the most inspiring music, practically started the Me Too movement, and came back stronger than ever! She encourages people to be themselves and not care about what others think. She truly was so iconic.
She did not create me too, bye. And her new music is great, but she didn't really cause widescale cultural influence.
LOL
Exactly, you prolly can't make a decade list without listing the artist of this decade Taylor swift👸🏻
QUEEN SLAYS AT NUMBER ONE
Miley has a beautiful voice 😢
Man I feel so good about growing up listening to Nicki Minaj
TAYLOR SWIFT!
Most impactful? Gaga hands down
Is It weird that i feel like crying after this video? I know we're talking about these amazing incredible singers, but their history has also become my own, and i feel so safe knowing they're out there. The impact they've made is undescribable.
Most influential
1: Lady Gaga (she changed the music industry)
2: Taylor Swift (artist of Decade)
3: Katy Perry (more weks in the chart with teenage dream)

6: (Queen of rap) Nicky Minaj
7: Ariana Grande (best vocalist of this generation)
8: Rihanna (fashion icon)

10: Miley
10. Miley (Miley)
