  • For one last time, I am once again dressing up as the block men out in public against my judgment. However, this time I met with other DSMP cosplayers and talked about what the Dream SMP has meant to us over the past few years.
Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to let me ask questions:
    (Technoblade) Riley / @Riley_wolf
    (Grain) Alistair / @hollowblazer193
    (Nuke Tubbo) Mercy / @thatonechaoticartist
    (Tommy) Keki / @heishi_keki

    (Wilbur) Z
    (Grian) Loss
    (GTWS) Finn
    (Quackity) Angel
    (Wilbur) Malcom
Also, this video format was inspired by this video by @SarahSpaceman
    • I asked cosplayers to ...
Some end credit clips were from @EvanMCGaming documentaries
Lastly, big shout out to sparks for helping me film all this!!!!

The one thing I like to say when something has come to an end is; even with it gone it's fandom can continue to live, and already you can see that with the Dsmp. It touched so much lives, mine included. That is just something you can't forget. Even with it now gone, I can't wait to continue to watch this comunity came up with comics, fanart, fanfiction, and so many other things.
Dsmp left a legacy, and people will continue to expand that legacy.

Exactly. I mean, look at the henry stickmin fandom for example. No new content in years, not THRIVING, but there are quite a few fully active members, and seeing that dsmp was so _huge_ to begin with, it won’t ever really die.

Dream SMP did so much for me.
I was bullied at school a lot, and I live in an abusive house so dream SMP was my only escape during that time, and on the lockdown i just watched them and it made me happy and helped me forget my problems, and I love it so much, i won't quite the fandom anytime soon,
And I have some projects going on, and I'm excited for them, i want to create something like the dsmp, something that brings joy to people, something that undertain them and help them, because i feel happy when i help others, and concidering how much dsmp made me happy and still does make me happy, I just want people to feel the same joy all over again !
That why I'm making my own server, i want to start streaming and make videos, because creating is what makes me happy.
And dsmp helped me find who I am with my sexuality and gender identity, since the gays love Minecraft rps for some reason lol
So obviously i owe them a lot.
I'm content with the ending it had and I'm happy with still being in the fandom after 2 years, i cried my eyes out during the ending and final stream.
I was kinda sad that there wouldn't be a season 2, but i understand and I'm still enjoying all of their content.
Also i love QSMP and empires SMP and I'm excited for what they have to give us, and usmp is also coming out soon and I'm also excited for it despite all the drama on twitter.

Dream SMP was the reason why I started learning English and keep going in hard times. I think it started going down after Dream going to jail and it stopped feeling so special and comfort, but little parts like Beeduo family or Tommy and Wilbur's dynamic made me continue to watching it

I love the Dream SMP, I had felt like analyzing myself during when Covid started (a couple of months before Covid started) and then I saw some RUclipsrs, one of them being the name of TommyInnit. I had remembered him from back when he had first started then I slowly stopped watching. Then I started watching his Minecraft mod/mob videos, and I started getting into them a lot and laughing. Then I grew attached to them. Then I found some thing called the dream SMP. And I started watching it. I realized that one of the people was someone I had watched also, and their name was dream. I was happy and excited that maybe I found something that could keep me going on for a bit longer. And my God, these few years have changed my life. They saved me from my end. And kept me going with a little bit of confidence that I never had. Everything was so interesting and amazing and funny I loved it so much. I’ve gotten so much more from them and then I started watching them separately I started watching Ranboo,Tubbo, Niki, techno, dream, Tommy, Wilbur, and Phil. Even though I watched others like badboyhalo, I mostly watch them when they posted videos other stuff then I found out about Tommy’s other channels and I love those as well. now that it’s coming to an end. I don’t know what I’m doing with myself anymore.. ever since it ended officially, my life has turned around, turned back in the direction I stored away from. I’m failing again. I’m disappointing everyone and myself. And I don’t know what to do. And it feels like the whole world has stopped turning. I’ve been getting a lot sicker as well but there’s nothing no one does about it, I’m stuck in a very bad position. But now that the QSMP has started, I think I’ll slowly start to get better again. I love the DSMP it was my whole world and without it I don’t know who I really am but I hope I do find myself again soon.

@@FandomFreaks. Hey, man. Read your comment and I just wanted to say, that yeah, I understand the hesitation when you find out you've reached the end of a path. One that you've come to find yourself on and love for such a long time now. The footing is familiar and everything you wanted, it helped to heal you, but now it's over and only open expanse lays beyond it.
I understand that you mightn't know where to go, or who you even want to be now. Because who are you if not who you were? I get it. And it's kinda scary, to think that whatever step you take next will bring you further away from the life you knew, and you know you can't stay where you are. Its scary to think you might go backwards instead, and end up in the place you thought you got away from.
But I implore you to take that step off the end of the path, and yes you can miss it and remember how great of a journey it was but ultimately it is not your life.
You are your life, not the path you walk upon.
This journey belongs to you, and I know you may just be a stranger over the internet to me, and this may just be another comment out of thousands to you, but I want you to listen ok? You are bright, and everything this world needs, you do not disappoint, and cannot fail. You deserve all the good this world has to offer.
The world is now open before you, ready for you to choose where to go, ready for you to find yourself. And do you know what the best part is? You can find whatever version of yourself you want. There is so much out there, there is always more to discover, to fall in love with, to experience and then leave behind. There is always more.
You don't need to know what to do next, not yet. Just breath in the now, and know there is a happy future ahead of you, one that you belong in, whatever future you want, and all you have to do is reach for it.
Ya, sorry that was a bit of an essay. But I feel that it had to be said. :)
I hope you feel better soon, you ain't alone. And hey maybe my comment means nothing to you. Maybe it's just useless text on your screen, that's fine too.
So from one stranger to another, I just hope you continue to feel happy again, and find whatever it is you're looking for.

The DSMP was the longest fandom i've been. Many other fandoms i either left early or just know about it, know the story and lore and that's it. But the DSMP was different than any other fandoms i've been So far, it's just something about it that made it so different to me and i just can't get enough of it. It also made me the person i am now and i'm glad. People like the SBI, Ranboo, Tubbo, etc made me know what i want or what i wanted to be and the things i'm very passionate about. Without the DSMP i would never read any fanfiction at all, i would never start my journey as a story writer, i would never start my obsession for 'Humans are space orc' story trope, heck without it i would already lost my passion for Minecraft. I'm so glad i discovered the DSMP and had a chance to be apart of it's fandom and community (even though it was a little messy) because with out it i would never discover myself and many other incredible things... The dsmp has been so amazing during lockdown. It was really a distraction i think we all needed. We were all mentally unstable and surviving together lol. Even though I wasn’t in the best place mentally at all i would still choose to go back to that time. I’d like to quote Penelope Scott for this one: “ofcourse it hurt, ofcourse it f***** hurt, it hurt like nothing in the world sometimes and i was super scared. And we were all a train wreck and also somehow making it, i think I might’ve died there twice and i would do it all. again.” I’ve got nothing but positive memories about the dsmp.

Honestly, the Dream SMP got me through like the first harderst part of my life now it’s the second time it’s as hard as it was but I still got them so it’s fine. Also answering a couple question bc I feel like an idiot talking to myself answering those:
    1. Was the dsmp an introduction to mcyt?
Oh hell no. I watched Minecraft yt before, like sssniperwolf back when she played it, I watched some polish players and it was overalls embaresing as hell yt this fandom doesn’t fell at embarrassing as the previous ones did.
    2. When did you start Watching the dsmp?
Right after the bee duo meet up. They were the first two people I watched in the entire SMP and maybe that’s why they’re on of my favorite ones. Also maybe that’s why BeeDuo’s my fav duo :)

  • @CB_W0lf
    @CB_W0lf Год назад +5

To me, the time of the DSMP was so magical, a sudden trip into a dramatic improv story that kept me invigorated and entertained. I can still remember some certain moments like they were yesterday, I close my eyes and can see it clearly, Pogtopia, Tubbo's firework death, the explosion and eventual destruction of L'Manburg. The Eggpire arc, I was along for the ride. Tales from the SMP, I would literally get snacks ready before I'd sit down and watch the story unfold live. Watching SAD-ist animations during their live premiere, reading Passerine and other fan stories. Those memories and moments, I will never forget. The stories that were told, by the creators and fan alike, will always be precious memories to me.
It's true, the hype died down after a bit, lots of the creators lost interest and moved on, and the finale wasn't really all I had hoped it would be. But I'm glad the server and story can finally be put to rest, have an END, since it was such a fantastic ride. It deserved to have a conclusion. To have a goodbye. And with the open-endedness of the finales, and no season 2, fan-stories can continue to flourish long after the server has closed.
A part of my heart still hurts, though. I grieve for the loss of something I loved, something I was a part of, even if only a little bit. The DSMP was crutch for me during COVID, and I had many hyper-fixations that were born from the server. But I know life has to go on. Things move on, time goes forward, and there is new things to look forward to.
I personally need to say my final goodbye to the DSMP, too. I have moved on, for the most part, but I'd like to do something that wraps up my experience too, as a final conclusion for myself. Maybe I'll write a story or fanfic.
But until then, it's been a fun journey. o7's to the DSMP, and thank you all

Thank you and Malcolm so much for taking the time to talk about the community, and like you said it just so nice to stop and have a conversation about this stuff. I hope I run into y"all in the future. Also yes I made sure to tell Sparks how good of a job they did on all the slow-mo shots, I love how they all turned out but especially the wing one is so cool.

I was crying so much after it ended, it made me feel so safe. That one moment, all those streams, everything.. made me finally feel like i had the moment to be myself, just to be happy and stuff. Ive always kind of hid myself away from school and anxiety and stuff, sure my mental health had DROPPED real much but i felt safe, mcyt and the whole community (except the toxic parts) meant alot to me, like i didnt need no therapy (nor sleep). Just my little happy place, now ive started watching the dsmp a little later. I started hearing about dream and his speedruns, so i thought "why not check it out?" I started watching more and more and then got into people like Wilbur, Tommy, Quackity and Badboyhalo. I first thought it was cringe and stuff at some point, but i.. didnt hold back. I never had the chance to cosplay (im broke-) or do anything with like meet and greets, but it made me so happy. I keep rewatching old streams and i got into Puffy, Quackity, Philza and a few others alot. Before the dsmp happened, i was a person that matured faster then all of my friends which i didnt know what that meant till i realised, that was the exact reason my friends didnt like me anymore. So i went on the hunt for online friends back in like 2018-2019. I met this group of girls and i hung out with them (the moment i realised i was bisexual-) one of the girls is still with me today. I grew really close to her and me being the person that has major attachment issues- is quite a problem. She got to this point where she acted really toxic towards me and said "its just my humor." And i forgave her many times, i took the time to tell her that i would miss her alot but i thought it was the right thing to do. It was take a break, we both kept messaging eachother and she'd get pissed everytime i had "fallen asleep" in the car due to some event because surely in her words, it was selfish (also one of the reasons i got much of a lack of sleep at all-). So i dumped her again, telling her how it wasnt gonna work out if she kept being like that to me. I remember that she'd always come to me when she had to vent but when i vented it was code red and she said "bro idk how to comfort." That point made me realise like this was not good for me. So i left her alone, for months, school and friendships and mental health had gotten worse and i was lonelier then ever. I looked for a new group of friends, so tiktok it was! I got invited to a group that turned toxic real quick. So me and the ones that they hated left, i added them on discord and we made our own little group. This group was AMAZING, we got bored soon enough and discussed what we wanted to do, we were gonna write scripts, we would go through HOURS writing and talking about it. I got the role of one of the script managers as i made all the ideas. It was EPIC, i remember staying up all night thinking of dimension breaking, glitching systems, love and loss, wars, egg issues, possessions and acceptance plots over and over again. I voice acted my parts and i was chosen for Puffy, they said it matched my personality perfectly. We started getting comfy in the group, made our intros and then face revealed. My friends couldnt believe their eyes, they said i looked exactly like puffy irl and even made comparisons! We laughed all day and night and our group together is still growing as we're still together and still popping off. All about the dsmp, the dsmp helped us all so much through sadness and sorrow, we absolutely felt safe and happy. We all watched the final streams together and miss it alot. Im happy that i had the opportunity to see it all live happen. I loved every second of it and now i kinda wish to turn back time to those days. God i loved it so much! Now onto qsmp:)

My school was all online for a whole year when covid began and that's when a lot of the big events were happening on the DSMP. That year was so boring for me and I was in the middle of a lot of self-discovery since I had basically nothing to do and no one to talk to since I couldn't really go anywhere. Almost 24/7 I had a dsmp stream in the background of whatever I was doing and it always brought me so much joy. Without it, I probably would've fallen down a loophole of depressive thoughts since I was lonely and was struggling with my self identity at the time. It means so much to me reflecting on what each and every single creator did for me, despite the fact that they are unaware

Dsmp was my life throughout covid and it really helped me escape as being around my family was not fun. It meant so much to me due to it being the light in the darkness. It also introduced me to MCYT RUclipsrs which is probably 1 of the best communities I've been apart of. I mean I wouldnt have found Scott Smajor or Geminitay without Tommy and the Dreamsmp. I was sobbing through the Philza finale as it made me think of how Techno was no longer there and it hurt to think about as he was such a big part of my life for so long. It's funny how I went from not knowing what minecraft was and not watching stuff on RUclips to being on here constantly finding new people and communities. I love your videos anc can't wait to see what comes next for you ❤

I helped keep their cape off the floor and we became friends after that. And it created this bond and I have so many friends because I knew about the dsmp/Techno.

The Dream SMP was so much more than a Minecraft server to me. Growing up, I loved MCYTs and SMP earth. Yet the way the Dream smp was was different. I started watching July 4, 2020, the day Tommy joined. I was invested past the first stream. When Wilbur joined, I was ecstatic. I’ve been watching Wilbur since November 2018, and was excited to see him join to Dream smp. My favourite era I think ever, was all of Lmanburg, July 2020 - Jan 2021. Everyone I knew was watching it. I became attached to quickly- so engulfed in the story- it changed my life. The amount of friendships and memories I’ve made from the dream smp are far too many to count. It was more than Minecraft to, I think, all of us. The days, waking to school talking about it, FaceTiming friends to watch streams, voting for Pog2020. It all felt surreal. I held onto it until the very end as time slipped through my fingers. I would sell my soul to go back to 2020-2022 dsmp era.
It is a forever unfinished symphony, yet *never* forgotten.

Actually, dsmp got me into that trope! God, the dsmp got me through the pandemic. I met my closest online friend via dsmp. Then I started watching Dsmp and two of my friends told me about Hermitcraft and Empires Smp (starting with LDshadowlady because shockingly I’m not to old for her content love her videos). Being completely honest with myself, since Techno's passing I've been drifting from dsmp. I haven't watched any of the finales at all but it's still completely unreal to realize it's over. Without dsmp I wouldn't have found my way online at all and i wouldnt have developed my love for art and creativity either. Genuinely without I wouldn't be where I am now it has brought me so much joy.
That being said I need to move on to something new.

DSMP was found cause I watched some Wilbur and then the Hamilton references happened and I sticked around, mostly on techno’s end. After he died I didn’t see much, only really from Philza. (I’m more a YT watcher). The endings were good at least what I’ve seen.

1- I started watching the DSMP ever since the first SAD-ist animatic. I was still in 11th grade.
2- Yes, it was my first MCYT interaction.
    3- I didn't do cosplay :'3
4- Its innovation made it special for me. Like, I'm a person that absolutely adores both rp and dark stories, and just during the time I was the most bored BOOM: DSMP enters my life and my hunger for angst has been absolutely spoiled ever since. Also the fanarts are cheff kiss, and don'e get me started on the fanfics.
5- 50/50. Tommy's, Sam's and the Egg's finales were meh for me. BUT QUACKITY'S AND THE SYNDICATE'S BROKE ME. GODDAMN, SLIMECICLE, YOUR MONOLOGUES ARE FIRE. General thoughts, I like to think of the DSMP as a story doomed to tragedy, unsaveble and fated to fall.
6- I'm happy whith what we got. For me, the perfect tragedy story I've ever seen, and everyone knows that a good story doesn't need a sequel when it is good by itself. Besides, the result is impossible to replicate. Over all, overjoyed.
When I was in fourth grade there was this child in my class that liked to rub in my face the fact that she knew how to speak English (I'm mexican), and she was one of the many bullies I had back then. Because of her, I gave myself the goal to learn English and other languages so that no one could ever bother me for something similar ever again. The DSMP arrived to my life when I was coming out of a very toxic school environment. It gave me something else to think about during the pandemic and gave me the chance to learn English in a fun way (plus, I got a fancy british accent, thanks Tommy, Tubbo, Wilbur and Philza). A part of why I will never fall out of love of the DSMP is because it helped me heal and grow out of the toxic people in my life, while also allowing me to make friends and have a smooth transition from the English speaker community to the Spanish speaking community when my girlfriend got me into it. I also know about Quackity and Wilbur thanks to it, and to see them all grow from that stage in their lives makes me realize how much I've grown myself, and how proud I am of what I've accomplished. It also got me a lot more into drawing and singins and writing, so now I'm a whole lot better that the people that bullied me when I was a child, and my confidence is finally off the ground and reaching higher every passing day.
Thank you, DSMP, for all the fun and the tears. I'm forever grateful I got to you and into the amazing fandom. Now, onwards to a bright future full of creativity and new fandoms to mess around in. I'll never forget you.

okay, i know a lot of people are leaving the whole fandom after it ended, but i love it way too much to do that lol i think i'm going to love this wierd little coletion of VODs until the end of time. I mean, it got me into lovejoy, and even when i used to not watch it as much like right after Pogtopia, i still listened to lovejoy and kept up with the streamers. It's just really cool.

Without dsmp, I would’ve never improved my english skills, start writing novels, test my art skills or meet some of my best friends. Over the course of the last year, the negatives in the fandom finally started to outweigh the positives, so I think it’s time to let go for good. As problematic as it was, I met some really nice people who even helped me cope with negative things happening to me. I hope to find a new fandom where i can meet new people like this again ❤

It got me to jump back into the Minecraft community with a whole new group of creators that I never seen before. it was my last high school topic that helped me to be less scared for adult life. As well as by content creators involved in the dream smp I was introduced to the vtuber community and other big streamers that I never knew existed. Dream smp made me get twitch which before I would of never discovered. The times that it gave me was so fun and creative. I probably will still cosplay from it because it’s now part of my late childhood, and it will be hard not to.

I began watching the DSMP since about the disc saga began, although it was SADist's Independance animatic that got me major into it. After that, the community and the storytelling was the reason I stayed around. Community, especially the artists, are the reasons I stay in any particular community because they inspire me so much, and DSMP's community is no different. I love the songs, the fanart and animations, and yes, I have read a few fanfictions. The community sharing their creations is what jumpstarted my YT journey, and while it has taken a bit to both find my stride and style, it caused me to start posting which is something I am so appreciative for. I would not have had the confidence if I had not gotten expired. While not my first introduction to MC / MCYT, it did inspire me to get me back into participating in Minecraft rp, which I had not done for several years. (Participating aka, finding mc servers that offer that experience.) Somehow, that ended up being the catalyst to the domino effect that lead me to my current community.
I agree that the egg arc was unresolved, but also that it was wonderful to see everything from different perspectives. It was so cool to have a 'one person's hero is another person's villian' encapsulated so strongly. I was kind of sad when I heard Season 2 was not happening, but I had already began losing interest in the SMP. As Riley from the video pointed out at about the 10 min mark, it did make sense considering the offline context, from certain creators leaving to Techno's passing. (o7 Potato King.) I'm honestly excited for all the other projects now available to the creators now that they don't have to worry about DSMP. I also appreciated how they gave the server itself a send-off as well, with fighting the ender dragon. One last hurrah rather than just announcing no S2 and not doing anything beyond that was definitely a fitting end to it and really helped tie things up in a neat matter outside of the lore itself.
I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that I'm totally going to stick around for whatever you decide to post next. Congrats on getting over 100k subscribers, 'cause you deserve it!

I’m glad I found DSMP because it helped me to just have something to look forward to, I haven’t been in the fandom for a long time. Even though it’s ending and I’m still not over it but atleast I found it. The SMP really helped me through and made me smile. I started to watch DSMP on august 2022 even though I was late i managed to caught up and my hyperfixation is still in me but I would try and slowly let go of a great SMP that introduced me to MCYT. But moving on to QSMP would help me keep going even though it won’t be the same as DSMP. I think all the fanartist, fan pages and others who made content of DSMP and express the love they have for DSMP, creating and devoting time deserves a thank you as well. I’m glad I just found this fandom and I’m forever grateful it exists.

The dream smp meant so much to me. I personally hated that they nuked the server because if they'd done a season two, that would mean I wouldn't get to see the memories and places Technoblade had left behind. I wouldn't have been able to watch it without bawling my eyes out. I'm crying right now thinking about it. I miss him.

Despite the fact that it’s ended, doesn’t mean that the fandom is dead. Nor are the fan animations, animatics, fanart, comics, streams, memories ect. A few days ago I went to my first Comicon cosplaying Revivedbur, expecting to be the only mcyt cosplayer, but at like, 10 mins in, I had already met 4 mcyt cosplayers (3 of which were dsmp, 1 being QSMP). I later on met a load more, and had a great time :). I’m still making DSMP animatics on my channel, and I know that a lot of ppl still r as well. So despite it being over, it’s fandom is still very much alive :)

It helped let me get some ideas for ocs and storylines. I had times I cried because of it, Laughed because of it, got inside jokes with myself because of it, learned it because of my brother, found so many new youtubers and streamers because of it computer got filled with stickers because of it, and it meant alot to me and still does. I am sad its over but I understand why they did it, I hope the fandom doesnt die even if its ended. However Im joining the qsmp fandom haha- Technos death hit me and my brother hard but I use to cry everytime any techno song came on but now I smile.
Hope to see the fandom and fans still stand but It probably changed my life after watching it for a year or two.
    (SPOILERS)
Extremely sad about dapduo ending on a bad note tho of slimecicle killing quackity tho. :( was hoping for some type of forgiving arc lol

Tbh, I think the only full stream I watched in the dsmp was Techno's POV in the Revengers stream. The sbi made me feel like I was apart of the family too and they still make me laugh when I remember some of their moments. I could relate to certain characters, pointing at saying "look, they're like me too."
The fanfics are still some of the best stories I've ever read and have led me to make my own friends in discord. SAD-ist's dsmp animations have inspired me to keep that dream of doing the same. When I couldnt sleep it was Techno taking over the world or potato wars that made the monsters go away. When I ate lunch it was Tommy doing something ridiculous again.
I dont wanna watch the finale streams cause I dont want this era to end. I dont wanna lose this too, especially after Techno

I was going through a really tough time and dealing with homelessness at the time. DSMP became my lifeline, i would download vods when I could, and my njghts were spent getting enraptured with the lore and the emotions played out on my acreen. It sounds sad, but genuinely it inspired me to get out of my situation and back into therapy as well as landing a job and getting my own apartment. I ended up taking up sowing and making my own Technoblade cosplay, which helped me get out of my fear of social interactions; I thought becauze of my homelessness, I wasnt fit to socialize with other people. Through DSMP, cosplay, and therapy, I feel like I had a place to belong and heal. I mourn every loss and the fact we're going to say goodbye to such a huge legacy, but all good thjngs cone to an end and all ends creafe new beginnings. I'm hopeful for the future :]
