    I enjoyed seeing your post-bed sewing machine in action. The roller foot with needle feed is a wonderful combination.

    That's a great machine and a super fix. I was fixing boots for my daughter when she was home and used stuff called 'Shoe Goo'. It's a rubbery cement that takes really well overnight and grabbed really well when it had gone off. I was doing soles and heels so I'll get more because I gave my daughter my only tube. Young lads are a bit more fortunate now because, when I was young, getting a 13 or 14 shoe, firstly, caused huge merriment in the shop and, secondly, cost a fortune if they could be got. I was only about 6'3" but I have big feet. Now I tend to wear work boots most of the time because they are easily got in 14 and are very comfortable.
    Best Wishes, Brendan.

    So few people in Western countries even think of repairing things any more. Its a shame we have for the most part become disposable societies. Good to know there are still others out there with the common sense to repair rather than throw away.

    • @Liofa73
      @Liofa73 7 лет назад +2

      AndTheCorrectAnswerIs You're right that people don't repair things like shoes that much these days. It's problem also a function of shoes being less repairable than they were in days gone by and somewhat too affordable to purchase replacements.

    Good strong repair. On a hiking boot that is often covered in mud that is a great fix and if anyone wants to say it doesn't look neat enough they can bloody well clean them first to find the stiching ;)

    A good sound repair Harry, I'm impressed with the needle feed action on your machine. My 29K is just walking foot. I have a similar repair to do on a pair of fabric hiking shoes but I didn't think to use glue first. Now I've seen this video I will get some glue before I start the job.

    chances are if the stitchings letting go in one part it'll start in others before long. trouble with canvas boots. it's the constant wetting/ drying. probably best just to get a new pair. sole cushioning will be getting tired as well. 6yrs is a good run if their used regularly. Great videos though. thank you, keep em coming.

    What kind of thread should you use on leather? I've seen that type of thread you use there from and relative but I could not find it and buy it because I did not know what to ask for/look for. What is it called?

    • @harryrogers

      BrownBessOwner Hi I use a lot of bonded nylon thread...size UK nm40 and nm20....its rot proof and strong.

    have you used your post machine to stitch thick leather belts, wallets and other accessories?
    Great videos by the way!!

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  5 лет назад +1

      Hi I have limited space so I sold it. In my opinion I think any machine will struggle to do both thick belts and thin wallets very well, as I find any one industrial machine does one thing really well...others may be able to add their experiences, and perhaps have a different view. Rgds Harry

    Hi - Harry I guess I should have looked closer , But I have this little foot also I have a single narrow guide aswell did`nt realize right away it was for this seam it`s running without a foot right now I have a duel needle - But 1 needle is`nt aligned to it`s hole could be the holder on the shaft did`nt look yet very close yet I bought 2 machines same time using the pfaff , Have you ever had the lower post apart I can`t find anything about this machine it`s a 982 Nakajima same as your style .?

      Thanks - I just put on my Keen eye , Sat down and just realigned the post found it was not finessed when they tightened everything up , Loosened the screws put it where it had to go and dropped the needles in the holes and began timing and tightening , Works great now I just need to do some tension settings bit to tight yet it`ll run foot to the floor speed though YAHOO --Is yours a dual needle ? This has 5 compression disc`s with 2 spring loops .

    hello Harry, is this machine better, slower, more easily controled than the Tysew 14400P-1

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  Год назад

      Hi very similar but I think I had this one running on even slower pulleys than my Tysew. The advantage of the Tysew for flat sewing is that it has the bottom roller wheel feed instead of a feed dog. The advantage of this one might be that it was more powerful.

  • @emilybax3262

    RANDOM question. I'm doing some research on the possible applications of post bed machines. How close to the bill of a hat do you think a post bed machine could get? A hat that is already constructed that is.

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  6 лет назад

      Emily Bax it should be able to stitch around most parts...but then so would a slim cylinder arm...hope that helps.

    • @emilybax3262
      @emilybax3262 6 лет назад

      Thanks for the response. I was thinking with a cylinder arm machine, the bill wouldn't pass under the machine. My thought with a post bed machine is that the hat itself would be under the machine while the bill would be on the outside. I'm looking to sew large patches on the front of hats. I can't seem to find anybody who has tried this with hats that are already assembled.

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  6 лет назад

      Emily Bax yes I guess the post bed might be more suited....I think a cylinder arm would do it assuming you could flex the hat. If you have lots to do then a post bed would be sensible. I suggest you try some machines to see what works best for you...most industrial suppliers can let you do this..and offer good advice rather than my guesses...good luck.

  • @mushin111

    Was there any liner inside the boot, and if so did you just stitch straight through it?

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  7 лет назад +1

      mushin111 Yes I did and then I put some glue along the stitch line to try and seal it...not ideal but a quick repair....I also had to pull the liner down a bit under the sole.

    • @mushin111
      @mushin111 7 лет назад

      Hopefully the glue will hold the inner seal. My boots have a Goretex liner, and I'd be reluctant to break that. Maybe stitching from the outside as you mentioned would be better in that regard.

    • @harryrogers
      @harryrogers  7 лет назад

      mushin111 Yes it would be a shame to puncture gortex.....I might have hand sewn with a curved needle in that case!
