when she was talking about bees someone in chat said "Jesus was a bee" and I just fucking burst out laughing my god. BECAUSE HE DIDNT HAVE A *FATHER* guys cmon.
Beesus
No shot that is actually hilarious 😂
*Mortal* father, but still!
I didnt know some people were bees. Mb guys, I will do better.
i knew i wasnt the only person who thought this
Boink is the most scientific word I've hear you say so far.
What that's not the technical term? 😮
To be fair, she did say forced copulation instead of rape
As someone with an animal science degree, I can confidently say you explained these better than literal college professors
I wish that this is how biology lessons be like. It's so much more laid back, interesting, your method of teaching doesn't make biology sound complicated and intimidating as a subject. And love the technological part of the lesson, with images, live drawings and definition.
I want Maya as a teacher. She explained that genetics lesson SOOOO well.
Ah yes, I enjoy when Maya teaches me genetics
this is such a fantastic fucking video, maya's kind of the goat at teaching things tbh.
Or maybe you are a simpleton?
truly
Hots for the teacher huh girl.
As a biology major who also loves telling people interesting animal facts this is like the greatest video ever made
*edit: I swear to god every time I tell people about the spotted hyena’s pseudo-pp they literally think I made it up lmfaooo 😭😭
**edit 2: I also think it would be both really interesting & funny if Maya talked about the ant species _Colobopsis saundersi_ that literally blows itself up to defend itself & is also known as the “Malaysian exploding ant”
Damn are all people who want/are biologists that same? (I’m like this) 😭
yes @@AkiiDagii
I'm not a biology major, but I know a lot of peculiar animal facts and my friends think I'm a zoophile 😭
Black crazy ants also have a genetic hack to where siblings can "boink" and produce viable offspring
Explodes to defend itself, damn nature be crazy
Not me learning about diploids and haploids in bio as a bio major and Maya literally being better than my professor and actually teaching me this stuff 😭🙏
I've never seen someone so effortlessly charismatic
Did NOT think this was how I'd be spending my lunch time but here we go.
true tho
Found 1 out of the 27 freaks that she was talking about.
@@malldvd I am the second, mango chunks go great with stories about insect incest
Yup... Lunch break in my car learning about boinking bugs
BeeVader: Luke, I am your grandfather.
BeeLuke: No, that's impossible!
This is also a timeline which Luke and Leia kissing would be "okay."
This is unnecessarily funny!
@@leoniewagner4002100% necessary
Wouldn't it be luke i am your father? Because since luke is a male he actually can't have a father, but he does have a grandfather
my thoughts exactly @@MatteoDolcin-ye8xm
DUDE that insect diploidy lesson was fascinating as hell!
Well, this is the strangest timeshare presentation I've seen.
Also the fig wasp story is peak Junji Ito 💀
That genetics lesson was actually super fucking interesting
It was interesting about the recessive allele thing, that we all carry recessive genetic diseases. I got really annoyed that she displayed the bees as having double the alleles I thought it was a bit misleading aha
I only watch it because she is hot but still I did learn something
and without you adding the "fucking" she wouldn't have been able to pick out just how fucking passionate u are!!! lmao what a joke
@@jstudios6427 Confusing indeed. It got me on an hour google search to revise my knowledge of genetics.
fucking is interesting, I do agree
shoutout to the twitch chatter who made the comment "pegged and pregged" during the UNO reverse genitalia edition part, I am in shambles
if only, if only
19:03
This video lives rent free in my head. I've read so many comments say that but this is the first time i expetienced this that wasn't like music or animation
This is my favorite biology lesson I've ever heard. The combination of humor and education is amazing!
this has now been added to my brain database that will be unleashed upon my unsuspecting friends
holy shit i literally just did that the other day
@@tyc9909 HAHA
A comforting(?) fact about the figs is that although each ripe fig requires a fig wasp to die inside the fig for polination, the wasps are broken down by the fig, so you aren't actually eating any dead wasps when you eat figs.
Maybe that's the commonality why fig newtons are called that.
But that means the only reason you don't eat dead wasps is because the fig ate them first, and somehow that sounds more unsettling
@@babblgamgummi6029 The reason pineapples can feel prickly to some people is that they kind of try to actively digest you as you're eating them
@@babblgamgummi6029Plants eating dead things is how ALL plants get nutrients. the cycle of life. Everything is an omnivore if you wait long enough.
How do fig wasps live past winter (or a season where fig trees aren't producing figs)? Are fig trees always producing some figs? tropical environment?
thank you algorithm for blessing me with this, i need more of this
This is the first video of yours that I've watched (although I've seen you a few times on other channels), and I love it! No clue how often you do videos like these, but your style of teaching is great and I'd love to see more of these!
Boy bugs give off a “im just ken” energy that I admire
this is fantastic
Daniel Thrasher no way man
boink
woah music guy
Pleeeeease visit Alveus!
Exactly the guy to watch this kind of video lmao
As almost all other comments say, you're freaking amazing at explaning things. Literally 10/10
I really do hope to see more videos like this from you!
as a person with crippling adhd, i somehow sat thru this entire thing super intrigued 💀
You should totally make more educational videos styled like this it was really fun to watch!!
Yeah I know they’re probably a bunch of work but this was the best
#livefastdieyoung
I OPENED THIS IN FRONT OF MY MOM, MY MOM HEARD THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO
tell her its educational
LOL
@@jon2623I mean, you wouldn’t be wrong
much worse parts she could've heard 😂 14:15
Hate to tell you this this way, but your mom knows this content because she made you!
Please more of this, you are honestly a great teacher. Didn't think I'd actually learn things from this.
I love the way you explain things so much! This was fun!!
That button beetle part is so degenerate, I was wheezing.
"None of my brothers think I'm hot. Guess I will try with my sons!"
The fact she refers to mating as boinking and also calls her car Binky Boinky is hilarious
Well, there;s a lot of Boinking going on in it, so why not.
She put The Sex™ in her car? Very cringe, ngl.@@kiwia8271

Professor Maya educating the chat masses is a godsend
Laughed, learned and enjoyed a lot during my first visit to this channel. Happily Subscribed!
The fact that I can understand all of this so well just reaffirms me that Maya is gonna have a top selling children’s book about bugs on her hands
I love your name lmao
@@littlelady9801 tyty it’s a reference to one of my favorite tv shows lol
Do you think the female bees bully the drones by saying “fatherless” to them?
Yes
You are a great educator and science communicator, the world needs you and more people like you
i seriously have no idea how much i should express to u how nostalgic this video bonked me in the face because ZAMN i enjoyed last year's video on this same topic and holy frick this one's also as epic, thank u for ur service, maya.
Clicked for professor Maya. Stayed for the insect incest. This was interesting, educational, and entertaining. The concepts were super well explained. Headset mic and liberal use of the word boink are both adorable. 10/10 content. More professor Maya please.
Recent studies have found that anglerfish actually usually swim upside-down. They hang their light thingy over the ocean floor and float across it to attract prey. Funky little dudes
I like this format so much, i have just subscribed 😊
This was honestly a fantastic edutainment video. Maya has a knack for teaching
Maya is the most unhinged teacher I've ever met. Subscribed.
I started out confused and now im just horrified and confused...thank you Maya.
Usually these kind of videos always cover the same set of animals. Most of these, I didn't know about and you gave new info on the ones I did. Was a great genetics lesson too.
You're such a good teacher, thank you for all this precious information
I’ve taken animal behavior in college, was taught extensively on bees, behavior and reproduction and this was the best I’ve ever seen it explained.
as someone who really likes animals but couldnt be bothered to watch documentaries growing up bc my attention span is too short and big words scare me, maya teaching with funny words and pictures is perfect thank u queen
I love you so much Maya. Your content is always hilarious but so educational!
This is insane how well she communicated all of this, especially considering it was live, as opposed to a scripted youtube video. The Hank Green of our generation!
Maya teaching that genetics lesson better than any of my genetics professors ever could
I love learning more crazy and interesting stuff about animals.
Thanks Maya!
This video was extremely professional, I did not know anyone was possible of achieving such a feat.
I found this fascinating and Maya is so good at explaining all the interesting differences in copulation. This could be a whole series and I'd love it. Thankyou Maya
This is extremely entertaining. This is stuff I genuinely would never have heard of if not for you but I’m very glad you’ve brought it to us
im genuinely so blown away by this lmao
I’ve watched 3 of your videos and I’m hooked. Such a cool channel. I like your style. Have a great night 😊
I want Maya to tell me cool animal facts every week. Fully would watch a presentation about any animal facts from her.
Ooh, I love the new "chalkboard"!
Damn, weirdly enough that old video was what got me into mayas content. Crazy how fast time has gone
Loved this video! Maya teaches very well, I loved the genetics explanation. I wish I had learned it this way in my Biology classes lol
This was the weirdest most interesting video I have ever seen.
Also, you totally nailed the explanations
Maya putting this content out there FOR FREE
Her explanations are so simple and easy to understand
This is one of the most interesting videos I've ever seen . My mind is blown
Honestly as someone who followed science all the way until the almost end of HS this has been an INCREDIBLE explanation from an educational level and super easy to understand! I wish my teachers had been this good
f o l l o w e d
Can she be my biology teacher instead of my current one cause shes actually entertaining to listen to
I think this is the first ever video I've ever seen that I physically couldn't eat while watching
Congratulations
Jokes on you, my brain is so smooth all these facts will slide right off in less than half that amount of time.
Literally me
Why do I learn more from Maya than back in school?
Because you didn't pay attention
I learned half of this crap from an old maid who looks like an angler fish before I was 15. Yeah, in school.
If only the Habsburgs were haploids.
The info on the haplodiploidy bees was something i never knew! Nature sure can be incredible, huh
You are so entertaining to watch, I’m boutta binge all your vids
to be honest i feel weird saying this but i actually love learning about life cycles including the silly thing they do to give life, it’s so interesting
maya is the teacher we all wanted in our school
this is so informational and funny, i wish there were other channels that taught like this 😭😭
Well THIS was awesome! 🔥Thank you for putting this list together for us. :)
Your vibe is infectious, love watching your content!
The bots are getting subtle now
I honestly love learning things about animals that I never heard about 👍🏽
I laughed so hard, I cried several times. Amazing video, the chat was what online classes would look like if the students could type anything they wanted 😂
This has been the most entertaining and educational 30 minutes of my life
Wow, much info especially bugs. Love your education facts about the animal kingdom. Can't wait for another lesson. Maya
Very weird, but undeniably interesting. 👍
edit: This might actually be the funniest shit I've seen in a long time. Thank you for the copious amount of endorphins.
The stories and presentation were obviously awesome, but also shout-out to chat for being absolutely on point for the whole thing xD
If my teachers growing up as kid taught like this, I would have paid so much more attention. This was fun as hell to watch.
this is so interesting and i love this content. instantly subscribed!! seriously i love live educational content ughh
I love watching weird (amazing) fact videos from Maya
This is the first video I heard of and seen Maya, and I've had a huge crush since! Love her content!
i hope you do more of these, great watch
new set, new tech, and a teacher fit? loving it!
Maya would you ever discuss how weird interbreeding is? would love to hear you talk about it and it's effects on the illegal animal trade n stuff
Made my day, please make more videos like this❤
the best ted talk ive ever heard!
let's go, last year was so good, i'm hyped, best content!
the presentation style was cool! 10/10
Man that bug portion is WILD🤣
Fruit fly experiment pun intended lol
I could really listen to her talk all day. More animal facts pls
Hell yeah my favorite topic!
I used the video last year to write my final paper in my biology class. It was about the tiger mating process and ended up being my highest scoring essay.
this was awesome, sent it to all my friends :)
this should be a weekly / monthly segment , this is a legit content
This is the best kind of content
