I saw a neat trick recently for clams - get some reef putty, make a flat disc and then press the bottom of the clam into it. Then take the clam out and let the putty harden. Once dry, you can then use the putty as a "stand" that you bury in the sand for the clam, which will keep it steady and also prevent big bristle worms from eating it from underneath :)
I had good luck with small wrasse eating pests like flatworms. I had a yellow wrasse that left my shrimp and coral alone, but ate most of the pests. It and my cleaner shrimp would both try to clean my hands when I was tending to the tank. I haven't kept an aquarium in a long time though...probably over a decade. Your tanks are so gorgeous, and motivated me to start a little pico that's been up and stable for a couple months now, just waiting to be stocked with, hopefully, some zoas, 2-3 sexy anemone shrimp, and possibly a green clown goby.
Lord knows how I found this, but that's the beauty of RUclips, I have a couple of fresh water aquascapes but now having seen this gorgeous tank its very tempting to watch some more and then do some serious research. I'd love to see this tank in a years time
one of the few channels I can watch (aquarium or not) that doesn't make me cringe. Getting tired of watching vids of young people talking through these types of videos. I don't build aquariums myself, and I REALLY don't want to listen to you talk lol. Just love to watch the process. Great vids, man. Thanks for playing a small part in keeping me sane!
Looks great! Maybe add a surface skimmer (Eheim skimmer like they use on planted tanks) if you’re not going to filter to get rid of that protein scum on the water surface? Keep these vids coming!
I miss my reef tank, but not the worry about it every time i go away on vacation. I used to dip corals which went into mine in fresh water very briefly before introducing anything new , quick swirl about and all the bloody flat worms drop off, didn't harm the corals at all.
Hey nice video! Just some notes: be careful with the blue-black striped hermit, they are known for nipping on certain corals. And maybe exchange the wrasse, because they do not always eat flatworms and they tend to become pretty territorial and aggressive and attack new tankmates
I think when I start my nano reef shelves I'm going to set up a little frag tank to help grow some of the corals and isolate them before I add them to tanks.
Next time dip dip dip your corals and shake then really good in the dip. You shouldnt be having flat worms this early unless you made mistakes. You also need way more surface agitation. You have too much surface film. I recomend getting a koralia pump or something so you can aim it up at the surface. Those mp40s or other pumps people use are good for flow.. but they cant be aimed at the top of the tank
I dipped all the corals in this tank before I added them to the tank. So either some survived the dip or something else caused this. I use natural seawater, maybe there were some in the water already? I'm working on the surface film.
Absolutely stunning tank, you make it look so effortless. Do you think saltwater tanks are achievable for a beginner or should I stick to fresh for now? Also how do you rate the difficulty of a tank like this vs a planted freshwater? Keep it up, dude!
Looks awesome! I did see a few "webs" which could be vermatid snails, just watch out for them and pull them out if you see them. They can overrun a tank quickly
Superb video! One of the best saltwater videos I've watched! I really enjoyed all your careful unboxing and explanations. I want to ask how you got those panning footage of your tank? Keep up the great videos 😊✌️
I'd love to have something like this in my house but I know there's no way I could take care of it in the way it needs. I should have been born rich lol Thanks for sharing!
You can do it bro 20 gallon tanks with minimal fish to keep cost down and get some beautiful corals that don’t require much feeding! Cost you about 50 a month
I really like the lighting you've got for the tank. I'm not really a fan of very bright lights for aquariums because I'm afraid that too much lighting will cause more stress for the fish. Correct me if I'm wrong about that though. Subscribed and cheers!
join a local Saltwater group. you can get these exact corals way under half price. the saltwater community is a very giving group of people usually and they will frag most times for free to thin their own tanks
Hey big brother....can you suggest us..a good source like books for the salt water fish and coral knowledge....i am still hobbiest of freash water aquarium 😅😅
I have a 550 litre tank and it had taken over 6 months before I put any corals in, this was to let the tank cycle in. I learnt the hard way to start with before I got a bigger tank. When I had a 300 litre tank I put corals in way to early because I was that excited and ended up losing them. It’s all about patients. The longer you let your tank cycle the better the out come because of diatoms, green algae and red cryno which takes time. A month and then putting corals in seems a bit to early to me. Yes you can start off with a few fish and snails but that’s it. 2 years on I have a very well established marine aquarium, again all about patients.
That sucks that you can’t skim the surface of the tank because you have no filtration and also next time try cutting the plugs away from the tank so that prices don’t fall in
Hmm that’s weird, if you look at my channel page you can watch them in order right? I also recently posted a 3 hour long montage of all the videos in order. ;)
hey dan , such a beauty of a tank you got there . I am also making a shallow freshwater tank . I wanted to know your tanks dimensions and the mm of glass your using . thanks
@@DannysAquariums Ah understood. So I guess it’s a possibility no matter how careful you are? I’m doing my research before I start a saltwater aquarium in the future.
A very brave job, putting yourself at risk to help others! Thank you! Who knows one day you can set up a small nano reef tank! My 10 gallon nano reef cost me about $750 including the equipment, live stock, etc.

What happened to the six line wrasse you had before?
Awesome! I would like to have a shallow tank too. Have you tried reef flux on any of your reef tank to get rid of hair algae?
Just a suggestion...maybe consider getting a surface skimmer

That sounds so neat! Thanks for letting me know, Christopher!
Made me realize, humans won't destroy the earth, only ourselves. Life will find a way to continue...
Nah we’re gonna destroy it for sure
They have before, they will again. We're only guests here

Really liking the tank everything is going to look great once it grows in

careful with the pulsing xinia. that can take over that whole rock and your corals
Looks great! Maybe add a surface skimmer (Eheim skimmer like they use on planted tanks) if you’re not going to filter to get rid of that protein scum on the water surface? Keep these vids coming!
Thanks! Yeah, I've been looking into a surface skimmer or something else to get rid of the protein film. It doesn't look appealing. ;)
Careful! Those sixline wrasses are jumpers! Just found mine on the floor yesterday. Its sad Ive had him for 6 months too.
Yea a six line was one of the first fish i got and had him for a year before he jumped out. They are pretty cool fish
This was too adorable, glad I stumbled upon your channel!
Thanks, Jody! I appreciate the kind words!
i cant stop watching these just stunning
Great tank. An overflow box would really help keep the surface free of that layer of skim.

Watch out for the sand! My flipper picked up pieces scratched new tank, gone for the tunze instead now! Just a heads up!
Big finger up ! 👍 Can’t wait for next one ! So nice work 🙃
Thank you so much 😀
Goodluck with the clam! I had terrible luck with them in all my setups. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the tanks being "new" setups.

This will be much harder then a planted tank. I would start with freshwater for a bit and see how you like it. Plus it’s much cheaper
Such a nice calming video!
Glad you think so!
I had a six line for years in an open top 55 gallon, never jumped... Gorgeous tank
Looks awesome! I did see a few "webs" which could be vermatid snails, just watch out for them and pull them out if you see them. They can overrun a tank quickly
Thanks for the tip! I'll keep an eye out!
Great tank. I like how you cut your plug over your tank so all the pieces fall into the water.
this was so therapeutic. thank you
Love this style of video
coral prophylaxis. will prevent pests in your tank. this cleaning is very important. Nice video
Looks nice, but I would install a servicescimmer if I ware you. This will make the water more clear and will help the light to get to the corals.
Yeah, I have a little surface skimmer to get rid of the film.
Very Beautiful buddy excellent presentation fantastic pick ups😀👍🏻💞
Tank looks awesome 👌
Good luck with that maxima the smaller they are the harder too keep. Feeding is a must.
Everything is looking good! 💪🏻
Nice, very nice!
This is so beautiful good job i love it ♡♡♡
Very beautiful
Seaman can fit there really good :D
Keep up the good work your tanks are looking amazing thank you for teaching me all about the saltwater hobbie
Glad you like them!
Also just wondering how many fish, corals and invertebrates do you have
I have no idea haha, I'd have to make a list. (I'm doing that soon.)
Cool cant wait
Also I’ve got a 13 gallon tank and can you recommend a coral distributor
nice fishes
Should have a 24/7 live stream 👍👌

nice work on the flat worms...

More fish!!!
Amazing Video :)
what kind of hermit crab is the blue and neon orange one, and where did u get that awesome algae scraper?
I would recommend something like a Seachem tidal even just the smallest one, just to remove the film on your surface. 👍
+1
Or even the JBJ internal surface skimmer
+1

Incredibly beautiful tank. Did the wrasse jump? Didn't see him at the end there.
Hi Danny, loved the video! Where did you place your order? Coralaxy? Whitecorals?...
Which company makes these tanks? I've always wanted a shallow, long reef!
This man has super eyes i wouldnt have noticed anything
Haha, thanks I guess!
Great video!
this thing is so beautiful! any tips for a beginner saltwater nano tank?
Awesome tank and all, but is that a Seiko prospex I see on that wrist.
Thank you, it is indeed!
awesome
Uhh, this was a great video.
Well thank you!
Ill bet those crabs and hermits wreak havock.
I juste saw the prices of corals on google, i'm too poor for these type of tanks🥺

There are some budget corals. Some cost under $10.

I'm lucky I live in the Philippines. I get corals for as low as 2 dollars.
@@ilin76bb the Philippines is a beautiful place, your ignorance and combative demeanour is disgusting.
What watch are you wearing in this, looked nice but I couldn’t make out what it was?
I think it's a Seiko Prospex SSC675P1
Wow great setup, what dimention of that aquarium? I wan to set up one too but different design, godbless stay safe and more cool reef to come
What is the size of this fish tank?
What kind of food do you feed them? Just curious
How is this done with no filtration? Very impressed
10:32 is that chaeto in the back?
you're so nice. i just dump the hermit crabs there and let them turn over themselves lol
i love this tank
Satisfying 🤩

Are the little unwanted creatures that showed up because you used live rock? Or how did they make it into the tank?
I didn’t use live rock! :) They hitchhiked into the tank on corals most likely. Dip doesn’t kill everything.
@@DannysAquariums Ah understood. So I guess it’s a possibility no matter how careful you are? I’m doing my research before I start a saltwater aquarium in the future.
