*Attempting to unearth my sports commentator voice* The jig is officially up, ladies and gentlemen! With Matoba firmly set in his antagonistic role, his efforts to score points in the yandere bracket could not be less unexpected! Natsume's boyfriend race is well underway, and our latest contestant is proudly waving his red flag as he continues along!!! Sir, that is a high school student! XD
that observation about midorikawa being more chill abt varying interpretations of her characters is how i also see her in regards to that, she's always very involved in the anime's production (including more recently with s7) but she doesn't seem to mind the changes the anime team decides to make (for example natsume's whole color scheme for starters), it's quite refreshing and makes watching the anime and reading the manga feel always exciting, no matter what order you go about it As for this pair of episodes.... i'll wait for your manga review of these chapters in the future, i have a lot to say lol
I love Tanuma and Taki’s conversation here, because yeah we know the Fujiwaras would accept Natsume because they are the Fujiwaras, but it’s not about that, and probably never was, because we know how most (if not all) of his life, Natsume had felt like a burden to everyone and the worst is that he had every reason to think that because of how he heard his distant family trying to get rid of him. So it’s Natsume who doesn’t want to be a burden/make the Fujiwaras sad/be another cause of worry for them vs Natsume trying to open his heart to his family for them to see him for who he is. And if you think about it, the only “not exorcist” people who know his secret are Tanuma and Taki and yet he still doesn’t tell them much (like how Tanuma didn’t know Natsume gets involved with Yokai stuff every day until the broken mirror episode). So in my opinion: TLDR, the Fujiwaras would accept him; but it’s more about Natsume accepting the fact that people would worry about him because they love him. Also, interesting how Matoba and Natori basically agree that having connections to “normal” people would never work out, and how Natori being a celebrity basically has to have these connections but always puts this sparkly fake persona every time in front of them.
