    As a design draughtsman at Holset in Huddersfield UK, I detail designed the HX35 along with the Midrange engineer. It's my baby.
    Holset Engineering Co. is now Cummins Turbo Technologies, I worked there man and boy for 32 years, my son is still there, it's a great place.

    On the wheel that you don't take off, there is a small ring on the shaft that has to go into the housing, behind the heat shield. That is the one I'm talking about.
    Thanks for you help!

      Everything is cool, except 2 things, maybe you can help with.
      On the compressor shaft there is a ring on it near the wheel. It will not go back into the housing, any suggestions?
      And my wastegate is seized shut.

      @@donyonkers100 are you talking about the oil seal plate? I think is what it is. Does it have a o ring on it? If it is that, I think I remember mine fighting me when I went to put it back in and I lubed it up with some engine oil and just kept rotating it around and pressing on it until it popped in. As for the wastegate being seized, I dont view that as a huge problem unless you absolutely want it. I put an adjustable boost elbow into my turbo and blocked my wastegate right off. I also installed a new wastegate actuator. I have a wastegate that's seized on my hy35 and I havent tried messing with it yet to get it unstuck. Maybe I'll spend some time on that today and see if I can come up with some ideas for you. You should be alright if you run it with it seized up though, or you could just grab a new exhaust housing. I think they're relatively inexpensive.

      @@purepanorama8484 thanks for your good videos I sucked a piece of black tape into my turbo on my 5.9 12 valve 97 Dodge and it messed up my Turbo unbelievable I have to deal with this challenge myself as everything is so expensive. Thanks for your videos. Question if I can run my truck with or without the gate working! Does it have to be open or closed to run it working or not? Thanks Mark southern Missouri Ozarks USA

    Nice detail dude! I could see from your rebuild that my turbo was assembled wrong and had the o ring missing which is what i suspected. It was previously touched by thais so ive had to do it again.

    Use a pine wood block and a regular hammer to bust the shaft out.

  • @paulzenca8134
    @paulzenca8134 5 лет назад +5

    Be very careful tightening the compressor wheel shaft nut. It is only supposed to be torqued 8 or 10 ft lbs I think - not much at all. If you tighten it too much the wheel could crack after a few hours of service. The metal these wheels are made of is delicate. And be very careful handling the wheel - if you drop it on the floor it is toast. I’ve done a few HX35 rebuilds and I use the kit sold by Wall5150 on eBay. Quality parts unlike most of kits sold which are repackaged Chinese garbage.

    • @purepanorama8484
      @purepanorama8484  6 лет назад +1

      Mitchell Knuckey yes they use the same rebuild kit. There will be a few things left over from the kit if you're rebuilding a hx35. The wheel sizes are different on the two.

    Is there not a seal on the exhaust side, aside from the journal bearing?

    • @scottdowney4318
      @scottdowney4318 3 года назад

      Yes, simply another steel square seal ring in a housing right next to the exhaust fan. The oil pressure in these things is low otherwise I dont see how those steel 'piston' style rings would keep the oil in the oil chamber. The oil just seems to spray flow into the chamber spread around as the shaft spins and drain out the large tube at bottom back to the oil pan.

      47927411D I personally would stay away from most things on ebay as far as turbos go. There are a few legit sellers that I think use ebay to sell stuff though. I'd be thorough in your searching and research sellers/reviews of products.
