    The thing I learned is that there is now somebody more important than me in my life. And I just have to show up for her hour after hour, day after day. No matter how last night went, the next morning I’m up, doing it again.
    There’s no time off, there’s no laziness. It truly turned out easier than I thought it would be. Somehow, I’m just up. I used to be so lazy. With my baby needing me, it’s easy. She depends on me showing up even when I don’t feel like it.
    I have never done anything that tests me to this degree and succeeded. And as such, I’m actually quite proud of that. There was more to me than I knew, and becoming a mother taught me that. It meant that I could be better and do better in all aspects of life and I want to always live this way.

    I always love when someone gains perspective. Like how being a mother is really hard, and therefore it isn't something to assume everyone is prepared to do at any given time.

    The way she says “my son” after all the work and struggles she went through to be a mother and create the perfect environment for him gives me chills. Love or hate the political side of her channel, no one can deny that that is one top-notch mother and one very lucky baby.

    Thank you for your comments about breastfeeding! I was unable to breastfeed after trying to so hard and desiring to, and I was extremely hard on myself for not being able to. Sometimes other people can be so pushy and make you feel that you aren’t being a good mother if you aren’t breastfeeding. It made me feel absolutely horrible, until I came to the realization that it’s about making sure my baby is fed and formula is just as good as long as the baby is healthy and gaining weight.

    Biggest shock: I did not think it was possible to love someone as much as I love my son, and having a baby really changes your priorities and perspectives on literally everything.

      Yes my firstborn is a son too and I feel this 100% . The love is beyond comprehension. This is why God wants us to have children because it shows to us a glimmer of what His LOVE for us is like! And then when I had my daughter..its limitless what you feel 😭😭❤🥰

    I used to obsess over how much sleep I was or was not getting & when I was going to sleep next. I eventually stopped letting myself think about it and was so much happier (we have six, oldest 11 & youngest 3mo) I also stopped thinking about schedules after the first two and they really do just get into their own routines and their circadian rhythm kicks in. At least all of mine have.

    "Sleep when the baby sleeps"--but WITH the baby, yes!!! I can only nap with my newborns next to me. And that's FINE, don't feel like you have to separate from your baby to get your own rest. Rest together.

    My babe was born a couple weeks before yours! My biggest shock was how some days I truly can not even find the time to brush my teeth. It's wild! All I'm doing is feeding, changing, and rocking to sleep but wow that consumes my entire day!

    My son is going to be 10 months old next week. The biggest thing for me was prior to him being born, I had so many expectations and I feel like I set myself up for failure in a way. Like “I’m not going to do XYZ” and “I’m ONLY going to do XYZ.” Babies are obviously unpredictable and having those expectations set before he came, made me feel like a failure when I didn’t meet them or stick to them after he was born.

    AMEN! My husband and I are married 4 years and just had our second. What you are saying about going with the flow takes next level skills with 2, and accepting it now is such a service to your family. Being a wife and mother are your most important responsibilities, so of course when more are added to your family, thanks be to God, the demand of you and your gifts increase. It is beautiful. But yeh, so very difficult lol ❤️

    • @haileyroselli9458
      @haileyroselli9458 2 года назад

      Also, we were committed to exclusive breastfeeding, and the biggest shock to me was how much I wanted my husband to be able to help more in those early days, and realizing that he just straight up didn't have the ability to be to our baby what I was. But, being honest with him about where I was at, and allowing him to be there however he could was a gift.

    It is not lost on me that I had a lot of training taking care of babies, being the oldest of my father's 11 children. That said, it was very natural for me to be a mother.
    The first two weeks of breastfeeding was hardest on my nipples. It wasn't until my last baby that I found Mother Love nipple cream. It shaved off one week of the harder time of breastfeeding! Lanolin never worked! But I swear by Mother Love.

    I'm so happy for you, Abby!! My youngest is now 25, but I will always remember how joyous being the mother of an infant was, and just how fast it goes. ENJOY EVERY SECOND OF IT, ABBY-- BEFORE YOU KNOW IT, THEY ARE ON THEIR OWN!!

  • @loveamerica5725
    @loveamerica5725 2 года назад +1

    What you said about motherhood being practical is apot on. Learning to be as efficient as possible while still enjoying your baby. My mil told me something so spot on before I had my first child, boy, she said some activities you will return to after your son is more grown up, but some activities you will never return to again. She was 100%right. There are so many things I did before I had my children that I can truthfully say, wow that was stupid, why did I waste my time on that?
    P.S. I slept with both my children with me both in the recliner and in the bed. Dont ever feel like you shouldnt hold your baby or that your baby shoupsnt be with you. That is a mothers instinct and to not have your baby next to you is not only emotionally wrong but biologically wrong. Follow your new mothers instinct, it never fails you!!!

    • @loveamerica5725
      @loveamerica5725 2 года назад

      I also never used any apps, that's just stupid. If you want to track what they are doing use a baby log book. This is what I did. But I did it more for memories. To be able to read the books 3 or 4 yrs later and see what we dis together. I highly recommend a baby log book !!!

    I feel like motherhood is not so much fun as it is fulfilling and rewarding. As I saw in a book recently oh, parents are not actually more unhappy on average then non-parents. They just have higher highs and lower lows. So the best of being a mom has been better than the best of my not being a mother years. There is a great sense of satisfaction and joy

    I had to have a crash course in sleep hygiene when I had my first baby. I was sleep deprived when he was born because I've been in labor with back labor for 3 days. I had not slept more than 15 minutes at a time. So figuring out how to sleep when I had to take care of a newborn was a huge challenge
