Yes, absolutely. The only time the watch is useless is when you first turn it on. Once you pair it with the phone, it remains 'logically' paired even when you are out of Bluetooth range. Coming back in range should automatically connect and transfer the data on the watch to the phone. Great question!

I don't know as I haven't tested that. It would be a situation with your phone and not the watch as to if it can handle two Bluetooth streams at the same time. So you need to check your phone.
I'm looking for a watch like this that has a "great" battery life, even with me using it as a day to day health monitor. Is this one of the best? There's two things I haven't been able to track effectively. One is battery life for these devices, especially under various conditions and loads. The other is price, as that jumps around wildly depending on holidays, Flash sales, and discounts. With so many watches and bands here, I generally turn most of them on, review them, then put them away, so there is no battery testing beyond them lasting an hour or two for a review. Sorry, but that's a significant limitation for me.

I think things are a bit mixed up here. The question of GPS integration with fitness applies to Android smartwatches, not Amazfit watches. As far as I can tell, any Amazfit devices that claim to have GPS in them use GPS for the activities that involve linear motion, like running, walking, hiking, biking, but not football, yoga, tennis, etc.
Where is the Day time and battery level on the top at the workout screen like other xiaomi watches pace and verge staratos ? Looks like it is missing . If so it is so dummy cause same screen size and it is very usefull specialy day time . Can you change data fields of workouts on GTR ? Max how many field ?

Nope. Nothing on the market in the 42mm size that's transflective. Closest would be the T REX but I think it's larger than 42mm and not transflective, but does have a nice always on screen: ruclips.net/video/3l5FRyMCDRg/видео.html
Another great video thanks. I have a Pace for 'good' and a Bip for work and really can't fault them in terms of specs, but it's REALLY annoying that you can't have two connected to the same app at the same time. It means when you change watch you have to remember to activate the device in the app if you want notifications. They really should have a better way to auto switch if it can only detect one - or maybe they just don't want people to buy more than one of their devices?! (I have found a workaround using different accounts in MiFit for the Bip and Amazfit for the Pace, but it's not ideal - and means there is no point in buying another Amazfit watch)
Yea, it would be great if you could have multiple devices supported. Sadly, they come from the perspective that one person will have one watch and that's it. With the WearOS environment, if you decide to upgrade your phone, the only way to get you watch migrated over to the WearOS app on the new phone is to wipe it clean and start over. So all your custom faces and apps are lost. I honestly don't know what they are thinking.
I was bought Honor Dream and all i can say is Amazfit is better, but not significant. Amazfit GTR is good if you want the battery endurance, but Honor magic is more reliable in terms of system operation. My GTR sometimes inaccurate to record my fitness data.
I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Check the app to see if there's a temperature units setting there. When it can be done I usually change to Fahrenheit for my reviews.

No, the GTR is almost identical to the Verge Lite. No always on during workouts, only one custom watch face at a time can be installed, etc. It's a Verge Lite in a more fancy body.
Do you think you'll be doing a comparison video that shows the difference between the Bluetooth watches that are merely compatible w/ Android vs the ones that actually run Android for people who are unfamiliar w/ these indie smartwatches? there exist lots of cheaper watches that connect to Android phones but don't run Android themselves. The spec sheets don't always make this clear & many of these watches look very similar to each other.
I specify the Android level in the title if the watch is Android based. Also, it's pretty obvious from the reviews when we look at the App drawer and all the installed apps. You don't find that on standard smartwatches. For those really brand new to smartwatches, I've got a Beginners' Guide video available.
HELP Mr. Ticks... I want to run floating icon apps like Floating Toucher on my JANUS. I can install them but they turn off once the display turns off and they do not autostart. I turned on permissions using setting search but this does not help. Are you successful at running apps like this (display brightness, volume . . . , simple settings, smarttouch)? These are some I will try but probably only run no more than 2 (maybe 3).
I have not had this problem on any Android smartwatch. You might want to try a factory restore of the watch and then install the ones you're having problems with one by one as the first apps to install. Test between each one to see if you can isolate the problem.
Anyone able to give a proper review on the Amazfit Stratos 3 yet? On paper, it looks to be the watch that ticks all of the right boxes (waterproof, 19 sports modes, ability to play music from the watch, attractive enough for sports or everyday wear). I would really like to see an unboxing and to see the international version on sale. Without the storage and ability to play music, the GTR just does not fit my needs.
Gotta say, after wearing my Zeblaze Crystal 2 and Vibe 5 for the better part of the last 2 weeks I instinctively flick my wrist to make the watch screen turn on. So now that I'm actually wearing a traditional watch it feels kinda funny and strange not having to flick my wrist. Lol.

All I can tell is the prices are constantly changing for all these watches. It's how the Chinese companies do business with coupons and flash sales. If you want the absolute best price, you need to check daily,. It's a bit like trying to book the cheapest airplane flight in a dynamic pricing market.
Hmm better battery, nice design, but no real reason for me to upgrade from stratos. Having a music player is key for me when choosing a sports watch, because I don't want my phone near me when I running. Stratos is still the watch to beat for me :)

I was really waiting for this review but I realized it is similar with my huawei watch gt hehe... but the amazfit gtr and huawei watch gt have great battery life and both do have the basic functions I need, heart rate monitor and message notification for 24 hours which lasts for more than 10 days without recharging
That's the best way to shop for a watch, by identifying the true features you want, then looking for the best match. Unfortunately, I see a lot of people trying to get everything in a watch without really thinking about what they need. Like waterproof to 50 meters when they don't even swim! There are two "stock" faces and space to add one (and only one) additional face. You have to have the watch tethered and then select the face you want and download it to the watch. It will replace the one you had downloaded before, if you already added one. If it's showing blank, a fresh new download should replace the black with the face you want.

Yes, it is really nice to be able to glance at your watch and see the time without having to wait for a black screen to light up. That's one of the advantages to the always on screens.

Exactly! Only one custom face is allowed at a time. The original VERGE can hold several custom faces and easily connects to a computer for quick face installation. They missed a great opportunity to spent a tiny bit more money for a little more memory on this one.
They are much less capable than the Pace and Stratos. They are meant to be simple sports watches from what I can tell. There's not enough memory to house more than three watch faces on the GTR and Verge Lite. Two of them are stock and can't be changed, leaving only one face you can change from time to time. Memory is so cheap, and folks like playing with a variety of faces, so I don't know why they chose to make these devices as limited as they are here in 2019.
I dont wear a watch and swim! I want something I can track my workout on (I use Jifit), I can use any other app I am not stuck with it. It will be great if I can take calls with it (connect a bluetooth may be? or directly talk from it like the apple watch), and ofcourse something which looks good for casual dressing. The Samsung watches should like what you may want. You can get a good deal on the older Gear 3 models, or spend a little more for the newer Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Watch Active. I'm going to do a full review of the ring (which is awesome) sometime soon. Thanks for asking.
I would love to do a top ten accurate smartwatches, but first I need a trusted laboratory with calibrated equipment and thorough testing procedures to assess the accuracy of each watch. No! Not always on display! We talk about that compared with the original VERGE that dims but stays on during fitness activity. None of these new one have true always on display like the Zip, Pace, and Stratos though. Step backwards?
This and light rubbish just Sport and notification a dumb watch. Smart watch requires a mic so for me the verge not light. Almost same amount of power 5 days to a week but as said verge has a mic. The powerwatch 2 no charging your body and solar charges it.

I'm not sure anymore as Amazfit keeps changing and improving their apps. Some use a Mi Fit app and others use the Amazfit app.

Can you swim with the gtr leather strap without damaging it? Leather is normally not meant for water....

What is the amazfit best watch
There are so many I can't pick a best one. Bip line is good for small watches. Stratos and similar large ones are great for all the data they collect.

The PACE is still a good watch, and they have been keeping up with firmware updates. I think it's better than any of the new ones, personally.

Not enough ROM memory to store watch faces on the watch.
Exactly! Only one custom face is allowed at a time. The original VERGE can hold several custom faces and easily connects to a computer for quick face installation. They missed a great opportunity to spent a tiny bit more money for a little more memory on this one.

They are much less capable than the Pace and Stratos. They are meant to be simple sports watches from what I can tell. There's not enough memory to house more than three watch faces on the GTR and Verge Lite. Two of them are stock and can't be changed, leaving only one face you can change from time to time. Memory is so cheap, and folks like playing with a variety of faces, so I don't know why they chose to make these devices as limited as they are here in 2019.

I dont wear a watch and swim! I want something I can track my workout on (I use Jifit), I can use any other app I am not stuck with it. It will be great if I can take calls with it (connect a bluetooth may be? or directly talk from it like the apple watch), and ofcourse something which looks good for casual dressing. Can you help me here? @smartwatchtricks

The Samsung watches should like what you may want. You can get a good deal on the older Gear 3 models, or spend a little more for the newer Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Watch Active. I'm going to do a full review of the ring (which is awesome) sometime soon. Thanks for asking.

I love amazfit devices but their HRM accuracy is concerning me. No one knows if HRM is accurate or not.

Best is to compare them to a known accurate device, like the Doctor recommended finger pulse meters, for example.

I would love to do a top ten accurate smartwatches, but first I need a trusted laboratory with calibrated equipment and thorough testing procedures to assess the accuracy of each watch. Then they need to sort from most accurate first, and present me with a list to share on RUclips, all for volunteer because we have no sponsors to pay for such an elaborate effort. Can you try and find such a laboratory to prepare the list? I will happily report it for you, Atakan!

No! Not always on display! We talk about that compared with the original VERGE that dims but stays on during fitness activity. None of these new one have true always on display like the Zip, Pace, and Stratos though. Step backwards?

This and light rubbish just Sport and notification a dumb watch. Smart watch requires a mic so for me the verge not light. Almost same amount of power 5 days to a week but as said verge has a mic.
The powerwatch 2 no charging your body and solar charges it.
