Funny. I just returned home to long island from Jupiter florida where I underwent a 2 level lumbar ADR surgery. When I woke up, this was exactly what I experienced....tears of joy. No more pain! I made it a mission to listen to this song as I walked around my hospital floor with no pain. Thank you for this Todd, your music reaches to all of us in different ways man
Amazing and underrated drummer! Playing a Jerry Goodman classic, one my favorite pieces of all time by the violinist! The Live version from the album 'It's Alive' is even better than the studio version. Excellent performance once again, by Todd!
he's a bad ass. All of Gary Chaffee's students are bad ass. Look at Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Smith, Sean Rickman.. all Chaffee students at Berklee. The proofs in the pudding
Love this piece, solid as a rock! Amazing control, timing, power, finesse...reminds me a little of a Dixie Dregs tune...must be the violin part that gives it that sound, great vehicle for a drummer to play over.
For some reason he reminds me of Peart...strong but subtle...technically superior but with heart.... Similar tuning I think as well... Fuckin masterful man...
There are no sections of 14/8 in this piece.. The only difference is the phrasing of the 13/8. Sometimes it's a bar of 7 then a bar of 6, then in the second half of the song that reverses to a bar of 6 then 7.
Hey this is fantastic, what time signature do you guys think it is in? 13/8? I think the first section is(8th notes groupings)-3,2,3,2,3, B section is also 13/8 i think- 3,3,3,2,2?
@PartyMartyDrums You are not fair, is a great technician, a drummer and bass sympathetic, at least it is my opinion, maybe not the best but can learn much more ... :)
twowheelsonly who cares. it would still be an amazing collaboration. both have the impressive chops to go off any time signature and improv like no-one else.
Apologies its tough at times typing on an ipad. It's a like or hate with Styx with most. I can't stand Yes or Thin Lizzy the way some people dislike Styx.
@pancha2111 Um write much? What are you even try to say? None of that made sense. What am I not fair about? I was pointing out he's one of Chaffee's students which are all bad asses. lol
I never said they were bad musicians, I understand they are great, but I CANNOT stand the songs they write. Too cheesy for me. I don't really like Toto, I think they are a little cheesy, but I love Jeff Porcaro especially on Rosanna. Steely Dan is amazing, I would never hate on them though. Aside from all of this I would like to say I am a Gestapo of grammar nazis, so you need a *they're, add a comma after buddy too, and you spelled musicians, "musicans". Sorry. I can't help it.
The more I watch Todd Sucherman - which is a LOT lately - the more I am blown away. What an incredible drummer!

unbelievable discovery. one of my favourite Goodman pieces.
Go watch Todd’s Drumeo lesson and the solo at the end. The guy is quickly becoming one of my favorite drummers! Just phenomenal!

Yes 13/8 is what i felt.
It is in 13/16.
He would do great with Dave Matthews Band
Jennifer Ball If Carter Beauford breaks his hand, hopefully not, get Todd Sucherman!
"No discription available"... right....
Where you from homes? Eastern Europe?

SRBIJA!!!
reminding me some Gavin Harrison style
Not at all like Harrison in terms of style. Much closer to King Vinnie! Traditionnal grip makes quite a difference!
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer Gavin is incredible.. But I really cant say who's better.. They play differently. Both are fantastic
Styx is a great band buddy there all studio SCHOOLED musicans.
Steele Dan and Toto are blessed with great SCHOOLED musicians as well.
what is the name of this song again?

True!
Apologies its tough at times typing on an ipad. It's a like or hate with Styx with most.

Sound like a Joe Satriani song..
It's more inspired by Jean Luc Ponty. Besides... Satriani would never leave his comfort zone of 4:4 time.
yes and a bit like Yanni
Whuh?
@pancha2111 Um write much? What are you even try to say? None of that made sense. What am I not fair about? I was pointing out he's one of Chaffee's students which are all bad asses. lol
You can't stand YES?!
No honestly my taste I enjoy only the bass player in the band
I never said they were bad musicians, I understand they are great, but I CANNOT stand the songs they write. Too cheesy for me. I don't really like Toto, I think they are a little cheesy, but I love Jeff Porcaro especially on Rosanna. Steely Dan is amazing, I would never hate on them though.

Good drummer, but such a shame he plays for such a terrible band...
