      @@nicholascarlozzi1881 I will definitely check it out. I’m kind of a basic rock drummer myself, but I did Delvin into odd time polyrhythms linear. Shit you name it when I can make it creative can make a rock drummer look like a genius sometimes. Still don’t feel much of a pocket in jazz music having advanced to that level, but when I’m grooving hard with good rock song, there’s hardly anything in the world like the power of that magic.

    • @golmanijev
      @golmanijev 10 месяцев назад +1

      While I love Vinnie's playing, and agree that this band sounds great, Sting's first band featuring Kenny Kirkland, Branford Marsallis, Daryl Jones and Omar Hakim was PURE MAGIC... No subsequent line-up came even close, despite the undeniable high level of musicianship, and even greatness, as is the case with Vinnie...

    • @Michael-xw4er
      @Michael-xw4er 10 месяцев назад +1

      Was that the line up that recorded Englishman in New York? Yes perhaps a more jazzy, and subtle band in some ways

    • @golmanijev
      @golmanijev 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@Michael-xw4er Not the same as the original band I listed above - the original group can be heard on Sting's first solo record The Dream of The Blue Turtles, as well as on the live album Bring On The Night. The line up for Englishman in NY was: Branford Marsalis - sax, Kenny Kirkland - piano and keys, Manu Katche on drums instead of Omar Hakim and Sting on the bass instead of Daryl Jones.

    Vinnie’s rhythmic concepts become nonsensical/rambling pretty quickly when he plays some live shows. Vinnie parts that are well thought through, orchestrated, kid tested, drummer approved and constructed with the type of care one may use in a cogent conversation is Vinnie The Vicar at his undeniably brilliant and fearless best. He’s played some things live that are sheer genius, brilliance, next level perfection and the pinnacle of cleverness. Vinnie blowing his wad is exactly what the words suggest, a wankfest sausage party that leaves drummers speechless, and nearly everyone else trying with varying results to catch a glimpse of the “1”. It’s astonishing and superhuman, and it’s just not what I would call “accessible”. Nested tuplets superimposed over alternating time signatures are not conducive to flow and pulse. Love me some Vinnie, but he overplays too much when performing live. My two cents, not worth a nickel. 👍

    • @AlessandroSestito1
      @AlessandroSestito1 9 месяцев назад +2

      I thought it was pretty accessible. I understood what he was trying to say on the kit. I think dynamically he can be out of context at times but it's live and the energy can take over sometimes. He just simply extrapolated ideas from the original. Cheers

      @@edjones2199 no, you’ll probably never see anyone else do that. Vinnie’s a unique player. There are other great players who can superimpose their voice and make their own unique mark, but nobody plays like Vinnie. I give credit to him for his willingness to put it all on the line and really go for it. He has a strong ability to commit to his ideas. 👍

      @@terrystowers6085 I don’t want to see anyone else do it I’d like just like to see the new creative shit that he’s working on if you could share a little bit of that it might boost his RUclips channel. I think he’s getting bored with it. He’s not getting enough subscribers, which he deserves rightfully, but maybe he needs a little bitlittle bit more to chew on

    • @terrystowers6085
      @terrystowers6085 3 месяца назад

      @@edjones2199 I have to refer to the Crossroads event of 2007(?) with Jeff Beck. Vinnie was absolutely astonishing on that day. I’ve listened to the whole performance at least fifty times and it never gets old. Narada was revolutionary on the studio albums, and Vinnie absolutely did justice to his legacy. Vinnie has the capacity to play at that level, of course, and he surely does. Give it a listen and see what you think. I could listen to it every day for the rest of my life.
