This is also a testament to how much of a fucking badass Sting is to just stay cool and seamless while the baddest drummer in the world is just monster shredding over 5/8.........a mere few feet behind you.
..Vinnie talking: " The reason that we did that is because Sting wanted it to be that way...and the reason he wanted it to did be this way...He wanted the audience to be able to hear as being a pulse".....Well, genius serving to other genius... thats all...
nebkadune For sure.....I'm a huge Police fan going back to their first album and Sting always had this uncanny knack for just hanging in the pocket no matter what Stewart was doing. Such an underrated instrumentalist.
This clip shows very clearly, what an absolute master Vinnie Colaiuta is! When you analyze what he is doing here - it is just fantastic! I can watch him all the time. Never tired of his endles competence!
You can have your favs when it comes to style (Peart, Bohnam....etc.), but when it comes to all out technical players, Vinnie is probably world's greatest living drummer.
@@KONAMAN100 The dudes in the brackets have their own unmistakable style that captured the imaginations of generations of drummers and influenced more drummers/musicians than Vinnie ever will though. @@KONAMAN100 I can see your point, there are certainly many drummers who are "all around" better players than Peart like Steve Smith even, but doesn't change the fact that Neil Peart is the most influential/popular drummer of all time and that is due to hi unique style. Ten Summoner's tales, track 6. It was 1993 and I had just began playing bass. I had only few CDs back then...this one and The Police greatest hits were continuously playing on my CD player...bass plugged in...let's rock... I saw Sting playing live with different drummers several times since then...but Vinnie still remains the best of the best them all. bar none.
this is fugging GREAT. love the new arrangement / stops. also kudos to STING...you can see he gives Vinnie complete creative control,. its a beautiful thing ! man there are some intense build ups in there. whew.

@@RoccoHernandez87 The amount of chops Vinnie displays on seven days alone is just ridiculous! Funny thing is his approach is actually very tasteful and works for the music...not overwhelming at all!
Oh hell yes! That may be the best performance of 7 Days I’ve seen Vinnie do. Wow!! This is still my favorite song to practice as a drummer. So many different elements involved it’s truly genius. If you can play it well, you can damn well play lol. We’re blessed Sting recruited Vinnie!
you should check Saint Augustine in hell live, that´s another Vinnie dose for you, and please come back here and tell me what u think about that, 93 tour I think
ruclips.net/video/xcXrSxcdHMs/видео.html here you have it, tell me later, one of the greatest performances from Vinnie, the quality sucks but thanks God is recorded on cam
Like some guys already wrote, but Sting, Dominic and David Sancious just lean on Vinnie! Despite his enormous fillings and dominations of pulse and technical interpretation! ! Vinnie!!!
This is the first time for while since I have watched something in complete awe and utter fascination. This was un-freakin-believable!! Cheers for the upload :)
This is such a well written song! Great feel in 5/4 and I have to say the drumming is phenominal! I've just had a go at doing a cover of this listening and working out the different parts to play into my keyboard and adding piano. It took me 5 days as for some of the drums I had to record bar by bar.
I thought the same but actually that arrangement is made by the keyboard. Vinnies smiles at the guy. Look at that version in 1: 06: ruclips.net/video/n5AMgW5yOkE/видео.html Sting looks at the keyboard player and nods. Anyway, great arrangement !!!
el día que no se me ponga la piel de gallina después de ver este tema tocado por Vinnie, ese día estoy oficialmente muerto / if I ever don´t get the thrill with this then I´m oficially dead
wow 2:03. I hate that kind of overplaying. It's like he doesn't even listen to the singer. And yes I know he played on the original. I don't know how Vinnie gets a pass on this kind of overplaying but guys bash Weckl for the same thing. I just think there are WAY more musical drummers than Vinnie.I saw him play with Jeff Beck and everything was so fast and chop ridden it just took away from everything. Sorry.
Yes it’s a little over playing but these guys play these songs over and over, maybe Sting said tonight let it loose. It’s over played but controlled, maybe show us how it’s done.

The Vinnie Colaiuta show, featuring that guy from The Police.
SpookyBaba lol
jajajajajajajaj!!! CORTA!
Uh that stings
ha ha ha!!! good one!
"that guy" who writes amazing songs. That genius.
That was Vinnie's warm-up, he then asked if there were any challenges up ahead........
