I have the Gen1 IN-8's and the LP-6's. I honestly can't see myself ever needing any other monitors. And yet, I'm still thinking of adding either LP-8's or IN-5's for live room playback. LOL PS, Glenn- The mid range driver is coaxial with the tweeter, not the woofer.
I've been mixing on the IN-8s for a few months now and I absolutely love them. In addition to their honesty with my mixes, I was surprised how much more obvious the acoustics issues in my control room got when I upgraded to these. New absorbers and diffusers helped tremendously and I'm very happy with the whole setup
A couple weeks after the IN-5’s came out I decided to give them a try since I was in the market for new monitors. I absolutely LOVE them! Such a huge upgrade from my old pair of KRK RPG Rokit 8 2nd gen that I had since 2012 and were starting to fail on me. The Kali IN-5’s are a great pair of monitors and definitely worth every penny
Glenn, you have to admit this video was more about the table than about the monitors. Well, at least half of it... :)) Thanks a lot for the review and also for the great laugh!
I've actually had a pair of IN-8s for a year now, and I love 'em. Way less fatiguing than anything else I tried out close to their price range, and the option to turn them horizontal is ideal for my setup. One of the pair was DOA when it arrived, but Sweetwater fixed that for me super fast with no hassle (they one-day'd a replacement for me, and then let me return the defective one back with the RMA label/etc that they included with the replacement). 100% would buy again.
I bought my LP-6 monitors after watching many reviews including yours and I'm definitely impressed, mixing and playback of them are absolutely awesome 100% satisfied for the bang for the buck affordable monitors, I definitely recommend!!! I'm also in an untreatedroom which makes certain frequencies hard to hear. DO NOT FRET!!! You can make clear mixes with them!!!!
This mix sounds great! I love the presence of the drums; the snare and hat, especially, are leaping out of my speakers and right in front of my face. There's also a sparkle on the drums I haven't heard on your last few mixes; 6k or so? Great mids on the guitars, too.
OMG, I got the LP6 at your recommendation and boy are they the cats meow. Accurate, deep, powerful, versatile. I don't notice any hiss that some talk about. Thanks for helping me pick the perfect affordable monitors on the 1st shot.

Epic fail on the unboxing table. LOL You remind me of me yelling at inanimate objects when things don't go the way you want them to. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I think this is going to be a great series and looking forward to the next video. Thanks and keep up the good work !!! Can you do a video on passive DI's VS active DI's and what you would use each on. Thanks again!!
Glen has mastered the art of the unboxing video! Concerning the table debacle I offer a quote from a famous philosopher of the early 21st century: "Spend the money, you cheap F#@k!"
I have a pair of Kali LP6s on yours and Warren's recommendations. I've never been happier! Lone Pine is the neighbourhood where the Kali factory is. Haaa! I have the same Costco table! But mines not broken. Yet!
Great video Glenn, thank you! I just got back to playing my guitar, got a Focusrite Solo, and am super happy with all the advancement made with all this digital shit in the last decade, when my guitar was taking a very long nap. I'm having so much fun with this, and some of the biggest tips to enable all this fun were from you (Reaper, Amp sims, IRs), not to mention your mind blowing video on how the sound is mostly shaped by the speakers. Thanks a lot! Love from Israel :)
He he , best unboxing video in decades , entertaining value +10 Yeah that table was a bit flimsy , been there experienced that too not with unboxing , but a table ful of beers ( that was a mess ) Not all the typically nonsense you see on other chanels , nope just straight to the point explaining what you get for your money . Great video , keep them comming . Edit - I think I got all typos right , but im on mornign coffe so there might still be some .
When unboxing speakers like this in size and weight start by opening in one end, like you did, then turn 3 of the flaps outside, keeping the Styrofoam inside the box. Then turn the box 180 degrees while holding the one flap as a safety wing to keep the speaker inside the box. Now you can gently but easily lift the box vertically up while the flap retracts and the content (here the speaker) stays steadily on the table still protected by the Styrofoam. You can actually lift the box without fighting with the flaps first as they will softly open up as you lift the box... But now you can remove the foam and all the other protection stuff :-) and get a good and safe grip on the speaker before you move it around... With heavier speakers simply open the top and cut the cart board open from the inside out (Sissors or a small scalpel / hobby knife) in two same side corners. Then you can tilt the speaker out from the box or cut the other corners all the way down so you then can unpack and again get a safe grip... Those Kali's really sound fantastic !!
I've never an unboxing as funny as this one...lol ... Many of us have problems like that when we receive a package and other unboxings make it look as it was easy
Don't skimp on monitors, the biggest filter in the chain. They last a long time and the longer you use them the better you will understand their coloration. I use a set of Genelec 8030a I got off ebay over 10 years ago. They were used for an Olympics then resold to me at half price.
Got the IN5s a few months ago and they are awesome. There's a little hiss when nothing is playing, but when there's audio flowing they sound great. They are certainly not light though as the table found out.
I heard the guy who made Kali audio speakers used to work for JBL back in the day and worked on the higher end JBL studio monitors. I personally think you have to hear them in person and decide on what you want.
Dammit Glenn! I already bought the LP-6 and LP-8 because of you! (They are FANTASTIC!) But now I have to buy the IN8!!!??? Please don't tell my wife!.... :-)
Hey Glenn, just FYI the midrange driver is actually surrounding the tweeter... I think you were pointing to the dust cap on the bass driver. Love my IN-8's. Also love your videos man, cheers from Australia.
As a bass player I'm a MASSIVE fan (Grr) Seriously thanks for turning me on to Kali's - they're WAY better than the HiFi speakers i had to use before Anyone who knows me from Lond will know how i survived a mega eviction losing about EVERYTHING (~abt 100 grand of kit?) Just me, the Meow and a trolley of doom (Bass, main mixer etc) THEN i got stiffed by a LORD (thats like a 'Senator) on nonpayment for making a lil podcasting studio (some 'comeback gig', lol) So right now I'm KINDA back - still down to Chinese 'hammer of truth' condenser mics, but we're getting there - (more affordable kit reviews pls) - Pete Gas Electronics / BtB Films & William Shamballa Stereocat,, London PS BASS PLAYERS R00L!!! Glenn, that band was great! We all need to know who they are, where to get their music, and how we can see them live. That rocked!
I nearly fainted when you put both unboxed monitors on that Jean Van Damned table, you’re a real savage Glenn 🤘
WHY'D YOU LEAVE YOUR KALIS ON THE TABLE‽ HERE YOU GO CREATING ANOTHER FABLE...

The first half of this video was chaotic in the most perfect way possible. Keep up the amazing work, Glenn

I concur! (
Hands down the funniest unboxing video I've ever seen! 🤘🤣
