Walking through the shopping centre this morning...playing the Manics "Design For Life"...thought about this track though strangely enough...doesn't get the credit it deserves...good acoustic version of the track...
Is the young guy the son of Nicky Wire? I love Send Away The Tigers album such a clear blue sky feeling. However dark, deep and difficult the lyrics by Richey and sometimes by Nicky the subject matters has been like in The Holy Bible or Journal For Plague Lovers, James's voice and melody saved by his cleanliness and purity. Manics is the one most important rock bands in the world.
he played at very low level. i do remember reading an interview with james where he said he missed the wall of powerchords richey provided. i reckon he did play, just not very loud.
I'm not sure I believe all the stuff about Richey not really playing...this may sound a little random but on the Motown Junk video he's playing the right stuff. (And rhythm guitar isn't too hard anyways)
Well, I don't 'insist' upon it. That was just me doing a rallying speech! He hee. And when did i say i don't like 'Send Away the Tigers'?! Regarding Richy Edwards not playing live: that's my exact point. The Manics have always been a 3 piece live. My point was 'why do they need the 2nd guitar all of a sudden'? Nick Naysmith didn't play guitar and always stayed in the background, mostly off camera. Watch the old clips on here and they sounded better, in my opinion.
He's always with them live NOW maybe, but he never used to be and they did fine. I preffered them before. The extra guitarist doesn't make them sound any better. There's a few less holes maybe but that was part of the charm... it's all so slick and proffesional. It doesn't suit them. Still, it seems as though i'm the only person who is bothered...
Who are all these guys playing with them? I'll no doubt get moaned at but i don't like it. There's 4 people in the Manics and 3 current. Why do they need the extra guitarist all of a sudden? they did fine without him. Insist on a 3 piece Manics!
