Geordie the reason he was getting caught constantly is because the cross counter is one of the best punches to throw over the jab, if you rewatch the fight, you will notice everytime Burns clipped Usman, it was when Usman was throwing his jab early on in the fight, it was just a classic jab vs cross counter fight.

I honestly wonder who’s better out of Usman and Izzy because they both seem unstoppable right now
You can tell now Geordie has been boxing he understands and knows a lot more about the fight game
Jabs aren’t used because of leg kicks
Yeah ahha, unless you have a really crisp jab like Usman, gsp, adesanya etc in mma you are getting countered immediately with hooks, leg kicks, double legs. Geordies more boxing though tbf
@@MegaZack61 the thing is the overhand usually leads perfectly into a clinch situation or takedown, hate to say it but Colby is a beast at it haha he almost just feints it into the tkdwn.

@@pavannair6469 a better championship mindset? Yet has 13 title fight wins and Usman currently has 4...
@George Byrne because Usman had to fight way more people before getting a title shot. He only has 3 defences but he's already beat 8 out of the top 10 Welterweights right now.
@@themetalsandman9231 Usman has 4 title fights yet has beaten 8 out of the top 10 Welterweights. Do the maths he had to fight way more people than GSP to get the title shot and has beaten GSPs consecutive win streak in the division. I think its a very close debate between whos the GOAT of that division. For me Usman still probably needs 2 more fights but the way people are saying its not even close is a lie.
After that right hand behind the ear that threw off his equilibrium he was done. Same shot Wilder got caught with and legs naver came back.
George St Pierre’s 13 win streak Usman broke were in championship fights against number 1 contenders and absolute killers, Usman has 3 title defenses. Don’t get me wrong Usman is incredible and on route to being on the Mount Rushmore of greatest fighters ever, but he’s not on the same level to be compared to George yet for legacy and G.O.A.T status imo
GSP is still the WW goat imo but let's not forget the fact that Usman's competition level is way higher. 3-4 more title defenses against elite competition and I think Marty becomes the WW goat
@@pppnnn-k3p Usman's level of competition is only higher because of the evolution of the sport. Its not like these fighters are just better fighter because they are born that way. They simply have better resources available to them. Thats why fighters improve at faster and higher rates now. Give GSP and his opponents the same level of information of resources, training, science, nutrition, technical and tactical knowledge, they are easily as competitive if not better.
Do you seriously think if GSP was in his prime with the knowledge MMA has today, he wouldn't out due Colby, Edwards, Masvidal, and Burns as well? Everyone is raving about Usman's jab, dont get me wrong it was good, but GSP had a far more effective Jab. GSP literally came back four years later and beat Bisping who was still relevant in the MMA world and GSP washed him convincingly.
@@uyema5275 couldn't that be applied to literally every champ though? By that logic no one but the original champions could be considered the best.
@@vishishify Not necessarily, the point is that cross comparing generation leaves no definitive answer, so suggesting Usman is better or his competition is better is a fallacy when things aren't even on an even playing field.
Yes, they should be better or else the sport of MMA is failing if the skill is getting worse. But everything is only relative to its time. However, GSP was visually way ahead of his time athletically, skillfully and mentally, cant say the same for Usman, at least not yet.
The point is that what champs were doing in their time was relatively amazing since the gold standard of MMA is only relative to their time.
@@vishishify Also, not every fighter had reign such as GSP. The only guys I can remember are Silva, JJ, Aldo and DJ. Khabib is the new gold standard of the LWs and so is Stipe to the HWs.
Usman's explanation for getting caught early was pretty good and I kinda get it. Cause they were friends for so long it was hard for him to get out of sparing mode and treat it like a real fight. He wasn't fully into it at first but once he got rocked it woke him up and he got serious. It makes sense cause of their history. But yea i get that he cant make that mistake with others but i do also acknowledge that this was a special circumstance.
The problem with usman he has a tendency to fight to the level of the opponent
if they dont bring the fight he wont take any risks and just dismantle you for 25 minutes
So basically any striker he comes up against is gonna get the foot stomp treatment
Just want to say i really appreciate these videos, i myself am a casual fight fan, i enjoy watching it but don't really know a lot about it or follow it extensively. Glad to see you back looking fit and well TG hope everything is good in your life keep up the great content
Unpopular opinion, I much rather see Kamaru fight GSP than Khabib.
This is a really good breakdown/fight analysis! Should do more videos like these, reviewing fights 👌🏻
Typical of MMA fans to get trigger happy on their claims. GSP in his time was straight up invincible. Usman is great dont get me wrong. GSP was just different level. Please someone tell me where GSP wasn't comfortable? He out wrestled wrestlers, struck with striker. He has shown arguably the best Fight IQ in the octagon and was one of the most dominant champions making fight incredibly one sided against No.1 contenders. Once again, True Geordie showing he has no idea what he is talking about.
People have very short term memories when talking about mma and the goat convo. People were calling Conor the goat when he became champ champ, usman isn’t gonna be the first
Not to mention 4 years out, comes back a weight class up and wins the title
Aye, he was talking out of his arse. Back in the day it was a shock to see GSP lose a round, 9 title defenses, beat every man he shared a cage with. Usman's on track to be in the conversation for GOAT welterweight but he needs abother 3 - 4 defenses for me.
@@garethscott9084 Exactly, all those small things just add to GSPs legacy. Khabib losing a fucking round was the most earth shaking thing, same went for GSP. He neutralized every fighter he faced and outdid them in their own game. He also beat everyone he ever faced. Lastly, during GSP's era the WWs was one of, if not, the best division in the UFC.
@@garethscott9084 usman has beaten 8 out of the top 10 at Welterweight right now. Usman had to beat way more people to get a title shot than GSP. I dont think hes that far off dethrowning GSP as the welterweight GOAT

@@enbonj5842 GSP was different fighter when he lost to Serra opposed to when he went on his title run.
