Only criticism in this is about the stance and the hands low approach that you wanted to see . With Connor vs a orthodox fighter eg. Alvarez he would have his hands low touching the right arm of Alvarez to easily control the arm as it is the closest arm to him and then be able to counter of it. Connor vs southpaw means his lead left arm would have to reach across his body to control Dustin’s lead arm so if he had his hands down the lead arm of Connor will be controlling and touching thin air also Dustin’s right hand is uniquely his power hand so it would be extremely dangerous to go in hands down with the chance of a quick lead right hook from Dustin going for a non protected face
To be honest I think a lot of connor’s wins in the cage where won before the fight even started. As a virtually undefeated stand-up genius, combined with his intense confidence in and outside the cage and seemingly unmatched skill, a lot of fighters didn’t believe they could beat him. After his big loss he lost that godly status and people now believe they have a chance
Fr! He was in Jose’s head BIG TIME and seriously that impacts a person a lot. If you don’t believe in yourself you simply ain’t gonna give it your best because hey, what’s the point. A big part of what made Conor a winner was his PERSONALITY outside of the octagon, tormenting fighters , making them afraid of their own reflection, planting seeds of doubt in them and just letting them grow. By the time fight night rolled around Conor already won.
1:54 is a beautiful example of Conor's reaction to the calf kick. He reads it, goes to check it, but doesn't check it properly. It wasn't that he didn't see them coming, he just didn't check them correctly and he paid the price.

I think Conor's point about evolution is about learning where he went wrong and learning from it. I think he's saying that Dustin revealed the flaws in his technique, especially the less refined one he has adopted now and is refining his skills to overcome it. You learn more from losing than winning, I think thats what hes trying to say, not that his performance during the fight was the showcase of his evolution, rather that now he understands how to fix the issues he had. Thats my take on it at least.
Its what Conor did to Paulie too...Paulie was always telling the truth but conor only shows his highlights but refused yo release the whole footage where Paulie put a beatdown on conor for majority of match
Trouble is there isn't really a 'defense' for calf kicks. Almost impossible to check clean, hard to get out of the way of. Will be interesting to see how he adjusts
He was flat footed and his timing was off i didnt like the stiff stance.. rust didnt help either, we will be able to tell after his next fight (if it happens).
i think his timing was off cuz he didnt have his right hand extended mma striking and boxing are completely different techniques and its weird he doesnt even realize it until after he got ko'd
Glad you said it all as it is. Ref the leg kicks was an excuse !! We will see where Connor is after his next fight. I can’t help but think it’s his stamina that is usually his downfall he seems to tire. Surely just the old bisping method would benefit him 6-10 miles road running everyday to build up his stamina or do tri - Athlons. We know he has the fighting iQ and looked fit but lung power nearly always comes through. Do some marathons man , get super fit n leave the fighting a while until closer to the fight . You watch khabeeb training he s running up and down mountains I feel this is what Conner needs good old road running and mountains plenty of mileage
This is why people need to respect Ronaldo, he has way more money Conor has, he has put his name, on underwear, shoes, parfume, clothing, headphones.....and so much more. Such a GOAT.
McGregor got me into MMA but it was clear to see the better fighter won that night again. Conor won’t be the same fighter ever again, he’s got everything he ever wanted 💰
Conor's mind games weren't just for his opponents, it put pressure on himself as well. He was banking that he would thrive under pressure while opponents would wilt... at some point he lost that confidence, I think it was losing to Floyd. That's why he got so personal with Khabib when usually he's more brash and playful with his trash talk.
your break down of the events is so enjoyable to watch. Since training again your perspective on this is way more accurate && your so right about masvidal.. i think his next opponent should be Colby. " if it makes money it makes sense "

Interesting point Kavanaugh made about the prep for the calf kicks, he said they obviously weren’t training at full clip but instead with shin pads as normal. Seems like checking for real is very different for that particular kick and the way he was checking wasn’t turning the leg enough. Also probably due to his boxing stance
Hey Geordie, love the channel and honest opinions. Agreed on most points, Conor was a bit delusional with this "play by play". Dustin should fight Charlie Olives next for the belt, they should not tie up the division another 6 months for a Conor trilogy. The other option is put Chandler vs Oliveira for the belt if Dustin wants that Conor money trilogy. I honestly think both Chandler and Oliveira would school Conor after this recent performance. Flat footed, totally forgot how to fight, and the ego of just showing up and walking down a dog of a fighter is not going to cut it. Looking forward to more fight coverage, previews/post fight breakdowns of the big name title bouts etc and for the record would love to see more content geared toward guys, mental health, relationships, dealing with work, health and fitness and just how to put up with alot of the bs in modern day society, and navigating the obstacles we all face. I like the round table style convos you and your mates have and find them pretty fun.
Mcgregor came in the best shape he ever was in this fight, why is it that when mcgregor loses people always say he wasnt motivated, he got beat by the smarter fighter
No it isn't, because it creates a narrative that Conor didn't work hard for this fight and so he wasn't 100%. Which only takes away from what Dustin did. The truth is Dustin had a better gameplan and exploited one of Conor's weaknesses. It wasn't that Conor wasn't himself. It's that Dustin was better.
I think the reason why he was nice and not brash compared to how he was before is coz before he was trash talking to sell the fight, whereas now hes a huge star and many people are gonna watch his fights regardless so he doesnt need to sell the fight

did he actually say this? I don't think that's why , he went 3 rounds with holloway using the karate stance.. and with Mendes as well.. no way his cardio is that bad.. Thompson uses it as well
@@sasukeahrim He was a FW back then, he obviously didn't carry as much weight on him, it's not about how much he hops, it's about how heavy he is, you can see it in the Diaz fights, I don't exactly remember where he said it though, I believe it was on a twitter post or something, so yeah he basically stopped hopping around since the first Diaz fight for a reason.

“Tune up” fights aren’t a thing in MMA neither is ring rust really. GSP got off the couch after 4 years and submitted Bisping. Dustin was the better fighter, great game plan those kind of calf kicks are very hard to defend so no idea how you’d deal with them next time round, but he does not deserve an immediate rematch.

Khabib was right when he said i'm gonna make him humble....Look at him now...comliments,hugs,handshakes...even laughs after a loss!!!!!

conor is my favorite fighter of all time, and i have to agree that this was a fair and on point assessment.
Hope that made sense if not act what I said out🤣
To be honest I think a lot of connor’s wins in the cage where won before the fight even started.
"losing to khabib didn't affect his legacy" .... errr what
I think he means being beat by the best ever in the division isn’t something to be ashamed of
being wrestled and worn down over 4 rounds and getting choked isnt nearly as devastating as getting ko'd/tko'd by a guy you already beat
Losing to khabib imo made his legacy better, losing to poirier is what has hurt it
Khabib is an incredible fighter. There's no shame in losing to him
There's no shame losing to the greatest of all time
Really, I like this guys analysis. He is levels above the other boys in reviewing fights. It is a balanced view and he calls it as he sees it. Good, listening to you Geordie.

As a hardore MMA fan and someone who makes a living selling MMA cards and memorabilia, I really enjoy your fight commentary. It is refreshing how honest and transparent you are and I appreciate it❤
Connor is lucky that he always get his way with UFC. He is the only fighter that can request a rematch after every loss.
You know if another fighter said that, they'd be calling him a sore loser..the real reason tbh is the other fighter who only accepts because of the money..it's funny that the rematch between him and Khabib was cancelled because he's not on the same level lol
Didnt max holloway get a rematch after his first volkanovski fight
Bc he draws the most money. Just what it is.
@@barryjerry8353 the difference in that though is it was a rematch for a belt that Max successfully defended 3 times. They tend to give instant rematches to champs who’ve defended the belt multiple times provided it want a complete domination (eg Usman Woodley)
Conor is the man. Its easy to tell. Look at all the haters. Yes, poirier beat him. Poirier was ranked #2.. He aint no slouch.

Hi supreme leader!!
So did Mayweather... He just isnt better than others anymore simple as that. Everyone evolved.

Interesting point Kavanaugh made about the prep for the calf kicks, he said they obviously weren’t training at full clip but instead with shin pads as normal. @@bingbong6127 I think he was motivated, just past his best tbh. Chael sonnen had a similar take
No it isn't, because it creates a narrative that Conor didn't work hard for this fight and so he wasn't 100%. Which only takes away from what Dustin did. The truth is Dustin had a better gameplan and exploited one of Conor's weaknesses. It wasn't that Conor wasn't himself. It's that Dustin was better.
