honestly, one thing i always appreciate is how kindly you treat your hm friends! it's so wholesome to see you giving some love to the pokémon who help make this run possible, even if it's just in a background way!
7th place on the leader is amazing for the best gen 1 starter, especially knowing that both Johto and Kanto are not friendly to grass types at all. Amazing video squidgy can't wait for Raichu!
Hidden Power really does wonders for gen 2 Pokémon when movepools are still shallow and coverage is limited. Also couldn't believe my eyes when I saw venasaur couldn't learn sludge bomb from the TM Pikachu was my first ever starter so will be interested to see how Raichu does next time
Hidden Power is something I don't really like falling back on, but it's a necessity when a Pokémon's learnset is so shallow! Raichu's run was an experience, I'll say that much!
Really enjoyed the kanto starter series! Was always a long held fantasy as a kid to play through Johto with them! Thanks as always for the great content :D
Wow. That's crazy. I wonder what non-legendary grass types can compete with that run? I was not expecting that result at all. Shame about no critical hit luck against Red in the first few fights though.
The Venusaur line was always my starter of choice in Red & Blue as a kid. I have always loved the Grass type. It remains my favorite type today - tied with Bug. I love the run. You got a great, great time for a grass type.
I remember getting Pokerus before. I didn't understand it and the Pokerus stat bothered me a lot so I made a new game and overwrite the saved file with Pokerus.
Poke’rus I never seen it in gen 2 very nice 74mins with cabbage in johto🤘🏽🤘🏽🤙🏽 I started my journey in blue with Bulbasaur and heracross is my favorite and they are next to each other on the leaderboard ☝🏽
This Run shows how good all 3 Kanto Starters were early on. There is some weird movement restrictions Via TM in Gen 2 for them like no eq for venusaur or t-punch for charizard, but they are still just far and away better designed than the Johto starters. Poor meganium just sucks
your editing is great and your overlay is also nice however maybe you could copy the way scott does the power on his moves which is very cool in my opinion love your videos keep it up
From watching crystal randomizer speedruns, I've learned that decent sleep moves are great to cheese bad matchups. You might want to keep those on your set.
Honestly I think, not counting Celebii as a legendary, Venusaur will be the best Grass type through these runs. It's just got the perfect mix of moves and stats to abuse for a run like this.
I was in a no-win situation contracting the Pokérus; every run here on the channel is my first playthrough and first impression of the Pokémon, so we'd have an unfair advantage if I did a redo with Venusaur that way. I scarificed Giga Drain to try and counter-balance the Pokerus, but we'll see where Venusaur's true final time is when we do its redo stream along with the other Kantonian starters.

Its still way better then Chikoriata/Meganium ALL of Chikorita's forms in GEN 2 IMHO suck for the entire game all of Bulbasaurs forms do NOT suck and ARE worth using. For Venusaur I'd rather KEEP Sleep Powder usable for the entire game else if you can't 1 shot Fire Pokemon in 1 hit ie Red's OVER lved Charizard its still a good idea to put IT to sleep else a lv 100 Venusaur could still possibly LOSE to Red's over leveled Charizard IN 1 hit.
No matter how fast Venusaur cleans this game, it was my first starter and still is my favourite Pokémon ever.
Same here bro
Always has been.
honestly, one thing i always appreciate is how kindly you treat your hm friends! it's so wholesome to see you giving some love to the pokémon who help make this run possible, even if it's just in a background way!
They're just as important to the run as the challenge runner!

Yeah… Venusaur was the only starter in Gen 2 to not learn Earthquake.
Ty for the shout out Squidgy. Team Abra was my choice when I joined the HM Friends a few days ago. My name is spelled Mariah
Those fifteen resets were absolutely worth it in the end. Go... Brute Root!
Fantastic vid as always!
Really enjoyed the kanto starter series! Was always a long held fantasy as a kid to play through Johto with them! Thanks as always for the great content :D
It has always bothered me that venusaur doesn't get earthquake and even sludge bomb in gen 2! The cabbage boi got shafted for sure.
Scott watching the red fight with the damage ranges 👀
Excellent run for the cabbage
Wow. That's crazy. I wonder what non-legendary grass types can compete with that run? I was not expecting that result at all. Shame about no critical hit luck against Red in the first few fights though.
Bulbasaur is my all time favourite Pokémon so thanks for including me brother!

Great run!! I wonder how much the pokerus helped!
Venasaur did better than I thought.
nicely played
Happy to see you back in action Squidgy!
It's great to be back! We really should catch up at some point soon!
@@Squidgy right! I need to get back into the swing of videos and games soon. Life and work have been busy nonstop recently
If Kangaskhan is top of the Pokemon Premier League, Marcargo is eyeing the oblivion of the Poke National League Premier :S
Oh no! He's even gonna lose the Johnston's Paint Trophy!
Venusaur did very well for himself! Great run, as always!
Somebody get Squidgy some more views and subs!! Great content!
Thank you, Jake!
Probably would've been faster/better if Cabbage had known giga drain. Still an amazing run!
I remember getting Pokerus before. I didn't understand it and the Pokerus stat bothered me a lot so I made a new game and overwrite the saved file with Pokerus.
Cabbage! Aka the best nickname for a bulbasaur.
Great run as always!
Fantastic run again!!

Was good watching the premiere with ya Nicely done🍀🔥😁
i think venasaur has a very good time, had bad luck in the last battle, his time could be better :O
My favorite starter/evolution line of all time, no matter what!
Venusaur doesn't learn sludge bomb

Poor meganium just sucks
I love Meganium, but it's not great!
Sludge Bomb. And maybe also DR. Ouchy...
your editing is great and your overlay is also nice however maybe you could copy the way scott does the power on his moves which is very cool in my opinion
love your videos keep it up
finished watching the video was great well done
I don't like having the damage on screen - it makes the runs a little less intuitive and a little more like just following instructions to me!
@@Squidgy i guess youre right and you also have a bit of a faster pace than he does in your storytelling
Venusaur will smoke Meganium
Let's GO! 😊
Ooooooh got the pokerus.. thanks Paras, might wanna rerun this because it may skew some results
We'll be rerunning at some point!
@@Squidgy good deal. Was gonna say this one has an unfair advantage because pokerus
Getting PokéRus was just part of Venusaur's experience! I'm expecting about a 10-15 minute time loss without it on a redo, though.
@@Squidgy yeah that's what I thought, lol
From watching crystal randomizer speedruns, I've learned that decent sleep moves are great to cheese bad matchups. You might want to keep those on your set.
Having run Sleep Powder strats recently with Victreebel, I wanted something a little bit different with Venusaur :)
Honestly I think, not counting Celebii as a legendary, Venusaur will be the best Grass type through these runs. It's just got the perfect mix of moves and stats to abuse for a run like this.
I hope you do Jumpluff soon. I know it isn't much for offense, and will be very slow going despite its great speed. But it will be fun.
I have a failed recording with Jumpluff! I'm gonna leave it a few weeks until we're due another Grass type, then start it again.
Always enjoying your videos! And not watched it yet but betting that venusaur beats meganium
Just recently discovered your channel, I like your videos. You got a sub from me!
Thanks, Brian!
Before I finish the video. I predict Venusaur will be the slowest of the Kanto Starters, but with be in the top 15.
I think Venusaur got an unfair advantage because of pokerus.

Bulbasaur was my 1st ever starter I chose. Hoping for good results with this one, but I'm doubtful. Most grass types tend to struggle in this gen.
Sleep powder should be a big help, at least.
Doesn't pokerus give Venusaur an unfair advantage?

Venusaur just has too many advantages over Meganium, it even evolves earlier for some reason
Why does Venusaur not learn Sludge Bomb in this generation? lmao
It's a scam!!
Squid my man I hope you are well
I'm doing very well thank you, Joe! I hope you are, too!
Sad that you deleted leech seed. It's effective against Snorlax since he has high hp.
Potentially, but we'll have to see in a redo.
Did you know silvers true Name is drake ^^ i Name him always like that and if i play with totodile i Name it always Croc 😊
Comó Estas
You probably don't like her for closing the gym for s pokemon she doesn't use lol

Like the nickname cabbage 🥬 just great 🎉
