Nice presentation, with a fairly complete list of heat detection- the only type missing I think was fusible loop systems. Rate compensation detectors are actually a little more complex at least in their operation and are a very ingenious type of detector.
Great video. I’m a fire a inspector and have been in the field for almost 15 years! I have one question that never seems to get answers. How can you tell the “one and some” heat detectors from the ones that can be tested over and over. Please let me know!
Great video so far. I have a question, There is a old fire alarm panel that installed at 1980, do you know what’s the code says about the heat detector type in the bathrooms at Motel? I would like to upgrade the system and the current heat detector is 195 inside the bathroom and then the sleeping area is 135 degree. Can I go with 135 instead of 195?
Nice video, the heat detector that I have is the Notifier FST-951H high temperature heat detector. Rated at 190°F or 88°C. My question is, would this particular heat detector be thermoelectric? I am asking because it is made by Notifier; and is their newest detector.
How do you remove an old one. I try to turn it but it does not move. it has a very soft disk almost like cardboard. Do you think it is part of the whole townhome system?
HEy, great video! I want to be able to use a fog machine in my house. Would it be wise to swap my smoke detectors for heat detectors and do you have any recommendations on what I should use? I would want to use the existing wiring if possible. Thanks
firefreak57 is it the BG-50w?! I have one of those!!!! It's a protectowire one!!!!!! Mine is brand new with the seal, backbox, and the little ziplock bag full of the screws, and washers!!!!
Alexander Goushy Yes...mine was also NOS but was another collector's before me, so I just got the pull station. But it is the simplex rebrand (mod. 2099-9788) and I know it was NOS because the original rod was still intact and the screw terminals had never been unscrewed before. I'd love to see a video if you make one though!
Yes, we are still around! Protectowire FireSystems is actually celebrating 80 years in business as an American manufacturer. We often get calls from customers about products purchased in the 70s, 80s, and 90s and even older that are still in use. Can't beat American made.
It is very similar. It is called a thermal resistor and the level of resistance varies depending on the temperature. When the temperature reaches a certain point there will be very little resistance which will cause the detector to go into alarm.
Ok! I believe you are subscribed to me right? Oh ,yes you are😂. Thanks soooo much! Good suggestion I will do that. I will send it to you in your RUclips messages. I'll try to make it today.

Thank you. Not many people know about heat detectors.

This question also I would like answered ☝🏼
Very informative. Awesome job sir! 👍
This video covers alot and is put together very good, I also didn't know about any of the line type detectors!
Great video so far.

So, It does not ring in heat if it is not winded up???
Very good and now I know a little bit more about the heat detector!!

not very many videos for protecto wire. I was gonna do a video 2 years ago, but didn't get it edited yet. Thanks for your video. Its good.
Do heat detectors keep on on blinking?

Nice video! I actually have a Simplex rebranded weatherproof pull station from the 90's made by Protectowire! I had no idea they were still around!
Wow, cool!

S.E.R safety, where did you buy those heat detectors
Do heat detectors need relays?
I mostly have the Edwards 135* fixed and rate of rise detectors in New Jersey
Is it possible to hook up alarms to an anuncicator
Did you know heat detectors were long before FA systems had smoke detectors? Many very old systems from the 1960's and 70's had them.
I learned something today! Thanks, S.E.R!
Anytime! :)
Really awesome video man!!!!! I love heat detectors. I am installing some in my home system.
great video!!!!!!!
Awesome video. I learned something. We had one of those in our classrooms and I thought it was a smoke detector
Good information!
Good job on the video and info
That was really good explanation
What about which ones to use where. Eg. Elec rooms vs furnace rooms vs hallways etc
@Les no more specific. Rate of rise/fixed/dual element? 135°? 180°? etc etc
Very informative video, thanks for sharing. 👍
We love you!
Nice I think heat detectors are cool my 3rd grade classroom had on but no smoke detector
Excellent video. Amazing quality!
it is? I thought the ansul system functions by fusible links is that not right?
@@Fredengle Not sure why I said that, oops.
Very cool video!
Never knew about line type heat detectors till I watched this video. I’ll bet I’ve seen line type detectors before and thought they were FPL wire.
Good Show ... Good Show...
Awesome!!! I learned so much!!!
I have seen a guy trigger heat detector alarm without the heat gun. Can anyone explain me how he does that?
you forgot fusible links for fire suppression systems
Wait, the special element at 2:39 is a resistor???
It is very similar. It is called a thermal resistor and the level of resistance varies depending on the temperature. When the temperature reaches a certain point there will be very little resistance which will cause the detector to go into alarm.
Dave Ok, that makes sense.
wow very good video!
Thank you Noah!
S.E.R. Safety your welcome fire alarm legend!!!!!!!!!
It’s one time use
Nice!!!!!!!
I found a heat detector that was not in the collection at a chinese restarunt.
Number 40 thumps up was me...
Looks like baby powder bottle
It's in my school it blinks green
very interesting
Hi bro.. very nice educational video for me .. please update me about your latest videos... thanks
Hi
Nice!!!! 😎

SHOULD BE STANDARD IN CARS
And if the car catches fire, the car alarm's horn will go off
i have a KIDDE heat detector wich was installed but needed to be replased so its in my collecen and i found out it has a specil elment in it
I am a smoke detector oof
Great video so far.
