  • This bit of film was taken by the late Jack Ellard. It shows how most of the kids in the bottom end of Scarborough had fun when there was enough snow to get the sledges out. Here we see Jack`s kids using Church Street and windy hill as their Toboggan runs. A popular run was from the bottom of the steps, down St Mary`s Street, over Princess Square and ending up on the West Pier. Mary told me that they had `spotters` at various points along the course to check for cars. How many of you remember doing this when you were growing up in the area?. Thanks to Dave Ellard for the film clip. I have edited it, and added some sound effects. Jack - bless him - had the sound of pan pipes as a music track LOL sounded like it should be part of a spaghetti western!
