How about how to read the hitters arm to know where they are swinging? Especially pipe, tandem, bic, slide, c, etc, I've been struggling with that lately. It's not that I'm not quick enough, just that I'm reading it wrong.
question: what is the best thing to do to get the hands on the right spot to set? i been practing my setting but can't get my hands where supposed to go on the ball.
Great video Donny. Was considering using the 6-2 for my recreational team, and your video actually gave me good reasons not to. Also helped clarify the serve-receive formations for me.
Hey coach so I am going to the open gyms for my school, and every time I go there I get placed into team 5. There are 5 teams, and 1 is the best and 5 is the worst for scrimmages. My coach says that we are placed ino those teams for a reason and have to earn out spot on those teams. I always try my best to do well, and I always put my best foot forward. However it seems that my coach doesn't recognize my efforts and still places me at the last team. I'm not saying I'm the best, but how can I earn my coach's respect and be acknowledged as a player? I really want to play at the higher teams so I can challenge myself even more. Thanks for the videos coach, and I told coach Kevin hi for you! He said hi back.
Hi! Can you also make a video on hitting off the block by swiping or through hard spikes? if it is not yet on your list. please include which part of the block to target. Thanks
But how the 6-2 offense deals with substitution rules? A player of the starting line-up may leave the game, but only once in a set, and re-enter, but only once in a set, and only to his/her previous position in the line-up. I mean that one player can leave and re-enter the game only once in a set, so if setter 1 leaves and re-enter in set one for examples, he cannot do it again. Am I right? Or maybe I don't see something obvious? :)
I've played volleyball for many years, and it is well stablished that the setter follows the middle hitter in the rotation, but what is the advantage of that instead of the middle following the setter?
Serve Receive. 99% run middle ahead of the setter. 3 advantage rotations vs 1 disadvantage rotation (when compared to middle behind). When the setter is in the 3 (middle front) or the setter is in the 6 (middle back), the front row OH is on the left and that is an advantage. When the setter is in the 5 (left back), this is usually the hardest rotation and you bring the setter to the net with the middle hitter in front of them. If you put the OH at the net then they cannot pass (and OH is often skilled passer relative to middle hitter). The disadvantage rotation is when the setter is in 4 (left front), because the OH is on the right, but you have some flexibility. The other two rotations are basically a wash.
Yes, but in a 6-2 offense the setter is never in the front row, which is one of the things Donny goes over. So, a 6-2 offense prevents you from having a setter dump. It's only an option in the 5-1 offense when the setter rotates into the front row.
Not everyone does it the way Donny says. If the setter is a back row player they can dump it as long as the ball isn't all the way above the net, other wise it is a back row attack fault.
1:50 for all the middles
Can you please do a video on timing when you're blocking? Like knowing exactly when to block so you don't jump too early or too late? Thankyou.
Have u got any video on improving block timing.
I was also looking for it
Hi, do you think you could do a taping video; ankles, hands, wrist, fingers, ect...?
This is just great. Thanks man.
Keep the videos coming! Always love seeing the perspective of other entrepreneurs 🚀

So is there a possibility that you out of substitution in set and your team need to play with setter in front row (when you using 6-2 offense)?
These video is great though would be greater if in th rotation you mention setter 1 and setter 2 so there are less confusion.

thanks coach Donny! In a 6-2 offense, can a libero replace the middle hitter?
Yes
Can a setter from a frontline do dump?
if they are in position 2 3 or 4 they can dump the ball yes
