I really dont understand why they percieve being bald negative, considering historical hairstyles in Japan as little as 150 years ago, where they were shaving half of their head or even fully in case of buddhist priests and it was a status symbol. Just how did it change so much i such a short time.
Ageing doesn't necessarily mean losing the hair for men, I've known guys with great hair well into their 70s, including my grandfather, and a saxophonist friend of my mother's who was in her band, who had really lovely black floppy thick short hair in his 60s. Whilst I prefer a full head of hair, what looks worse is greasy combover bits, if you are going bald I think it's better just to rock that rather than cling to hair hope lol. Also some guys just suit bald better like Richard OBrien, I can't picture him with hair at all. (From The Crystal Maze and Rocky Horror Show)
I personally like the bald look. It can add heaps of character. It’s a bit strange that some Japanese women in this interview consider baldness ’dirty’ (how does that logically make sense?), but nevertheless good to hear their honest opinion. Beards are also, often, considered dirty. (I’m a baldie with a beard) Japanese people often refer to bald guys as ‘Tako’ (octopus), btw. Side note: Japanese Buddhist monks and priests are most often bald, and I have never seen a homeless bald person…
A little bit of generalization: manual workers go bald, office workers wear wigs or cosmetic products to hide it. And while office workers are forced to look clean for the job, manual workers often tend to look more natural and compfy, as they lack contact with clients or their job would make them dirty anyway, so dressing up beyond certain level makes no sense. They arent "dirty", but they are more often then not, clothed more casually and not like models from fashion magazines.
It's interesting that most of these respondents started by speaking in general terms and explaining societal opinions and only when pressed gave their own opinion.
It's like enjoy it while you have it. Otherwise I personally think it's sexy for relatively young men to have bold heads. I'm 76 now but had a good set of hair till like 3yrs ago but had cancer treatment and with that hair became so thin and lost almost all on the top although can't see it myself from the front. I tried to shave it all but then you'd have to do it constantly or it will look unkept so decided to keep some length. I bet I look hideous but could care or less at this point.
Funnny how all the girls say they would date a bald guy, it's the attitude that matters and bla bla but all the guys that had their head shaved decided to grow their hair back :)
"Stop counting only the things that you have lost" I liked that but why he said about foreign audience, is that some common reference that I don't get?
It's not hard to understand this: if you are bald, you're playing on Hard Mode, while those with hair play on Normal Mode. You can still both achieve the same things regarding a romantic life style and whatnot, but the bald men will have to prove themselves way more than the non-bald ones. Yes, it eventually depends on your personality and your achievements either way; but if a bald man has to look professional every day, make a lot of money, smell really nice and have an incredibly captivating personality, just to be on par with some average dude with average accomplishments in life, but he has really nice hair and smiled at you once, they'd not be on equal playing grounds. Not to forget, the bald man will have to face many demoralizing experiences in his life before he gets to that point of success, IF he manages to fight through it. This makes reaching that high-profile life even harder than it would've been for the guy with great hair.
Anyone else find these answer pretty rude and ignorant? As far as I know, baldness for the most part is genetic and nothing can be done about it. Here in Europe, beeing bald people is pretty common, as long as you take care of the rest, it doesn't matter that much.
I love how the one guy used the One Piece reference lol I'm from the states and many, many guys, even some women have thinning hair. Over here being bald became more of a style of acceptance, rather than the old days of wigs, comb overs, and brutally painful hair implants.
85% of all men lose hair before they reach 50 years old. Soooo It's absolutely normal. The speed at which that happens, is dictated by STRESS and genetics though.
It's 95% genetics. Stress is not really a factor, unless it is really extreme stress that is also causing health problems. (Balding is not a health problem normally)

I was interested too. An example might be when you say : "you like cartoons don't you?" You could be implying the person is immature without actually saying it.
Yes, I think that's what he meant. Normal words like "bald" but saying it is actually a criticism. They're not saying it to be nice, even when said with a pleasant tone. I think in English, we have the term "backhanded compliment."
this video gives me hope 😭
In the Afican American community it is/was not uncommon to see bald headed men. In many instances these men had a head full of hair and they kept their hair shaved/bald during the summer months to keep cool, or just prefered a bald head. There was no stigma attached in any way, shape or form and it was not uncommon for African American women to have a preference for a bald headed man :). Fast forward to 2022 and due to the pandemic, or other reasons I see so many men of different races and ages wearing bald heads, and I gotta say they look fantastic! Again, I have never looked at a bald head man and thought a ything other than...Niceeeee 😉!
Yes in the Black Community it is not uncommon. It’s normal on both sides. But Black Men LOVE to make fun of Black Woman and call them bald if they don’t have straight hair. That’s what we need to get into. 💁🏿😬
The girl that said she sees bald men as "filthy" really pissed me off
Be like Johnny Sins, he is bald and he has become everything this world has to offer 😂👌🏻
Or Jef B, just a guy that is the richest man in the world
@@Itsabdirisak Exploiter*
5:20 I’ve seen a lot of starving homeless people who are alcoholics have the most thickest hair ever. Crazy how genetics never has crossed their minds
If for whatever reason I go bald, I want to be that bald man who buys absolutely ridiculous wigs to wear when I'm off work
Also, my 3rd favorite teacher was a bald man with lots of personality
😂
It's usually in Korea and certain parts of China to see bald guys bald or long hair asian men
The guy that mentioned jason statum is exactly right: America(n media) spends a lot of time on making bald guys feel cool. Thats why you see so many bald “cool” actors
They must spend just a little bit of time then, 'cause there's only , like, 5 very famous american baldy actors lol
Interesting shift of societal perception over time. During the Edo period (1603-1867), all men had to shave their heads (sakayaki)
If you get teased for anything that just goes to show how immature those people are and it's a form of bulling remember karma is coming
New title, Asian Trivia👏
As a bald man having tried dating in japan, i can say women will not like u at first but you gotta put in the effort.. talk.. be funny, give flattery.. show confidence and most of all show u have money! Lol while its true that you will lose already on first impressions but u can still make up for it!! Gambate!
When I saw this episode I somehow thought of that Curb episode where Larry David (a very self-consciously bald man) has misadventures at a Japanese restaurant.
Thank you for your videos.
Imagine if one of the interviewees is wearing a hair wig
5:18 この女性の話し方、凄く丁寧で礼儀正しいですね
相当な教養あるんだろうな
I don't think the interviewer communicated the idea of baldness well. "Bouzu" means people with shaved head and they can grow hair if they want.
3:54 Please refrain in future from including such handsome interview subjects in your videos, it's very distracting... We do however need a whole vid on dude at 8:47, and whatever the hell his deal is. Hell yeah.
Shaving my head improved my life in Japan in every way imaginable.
How so my man? Genuinely curious.
im a working guy and i am bald, i can pinpoint some homeless people that have a full beard and full set of hair on there heads XD
"the foreign viewers will understand what I said" we sure did brother, we sure did
2:51 if you ever feel like human garbage, at least you are not those girls. Imagine treating a person like that just because hair. God, I'm proud I was raised on western values.
Nice white supremacy stuff you put at the end. I wonder who coined the term "Western Values"
@@ոakedsquirtle If treating people with dignity for things they cannot control is white supremacy then call me Goebbels, i don't care who coined the term it's irrelevant.
10:50 I think they are very nice and fair
Alot of the top athletes and actors are bald Micheal Jordan, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Magic Johnson, Shaq, Andre Agassi, Floyd Mayweather, Kelly Slater. Actors like The Rock, Bruce Willis, Taye Diggs, John Travolta, Samuel L Jackson, Lawrence Fishburn, Stanley Tucci, James Gandolfini (rip) Patrick Stewart, Yul Brenner, Dave Chapelle, Robert Duval, Ed Harris. It's a legit power look especially with a beard and originally the samurai would shave the top of their head called "chonmage" so it was more comfortable to wear the kabuto helmet.
(From The Crystal Maze and Rocky Horror Show)
6:38 I see a man of cultured right there, quoting straight out of One Piece 😄
Thanks to Turkey for getting my hair back. It is the greatest destination for transplant surgeries.
Love the jinbei guy haha
I personally like the bald look. It can add heaps of character.
It’s a bit strange that some Japanese women in this interview consider baldness ’dirty’ (how does that logically make sense?), but nevertheless good to hear their honest opinion. Beards are also, often, considered dirty. (I’m a baldie with a beard)
Japanese people often refer to bald guys as ‘Tako’ (octopus), btw.
1:22 that blonde... hes sooo familiar. Is he that visual key artist who is bald?? I fogot his YT channel. Omg!
This is the problem with the world, too judgemental about how someone looks
I would prefer to be bald than to walk around with yellow hair.
It's interesting that most of these respondents started by speaking in general terms and explaining societal opinions and only when pressed gave their own opinion.
Please make investigation bout Shinzo abe attack
It's like enjoy it while you have it. Otherwise I personally think it's sexy for relatively young
men to have bold heads. I'm 76 now but had a good set of hair till like 3yrs ago but had
cancer treatment and with that hair became so thin and lost almost all on the top although
can't see it myself from the front.
I tried to shave it all but then you'd have to do it constantly or it will look unkept so decided
to keep some length. I bet I look hideous but could care or less at this point.
Funnny how all the girls say they would date a bald guy, it's the attitude that matters and bla bla but all the guys that had their head shaved decided to grow their hair back :)
That Jimbei reference. I like it.
"Stop counting only the things that you have lost" I liked that but why he said about foreign audience, is that some common reference that I don't get?
Japan fashion is lit af. Everyone looks like the 90s.
i think this interview should feature some bald men/women
Hmmmmm....so little time...so many concerns! Self-confident, and unflappable is all it takes!😎🤙🕉
Welp... guess I'll be staying home then.
The girl who said you bald because of lack of nutrition should reflect on what she is saying as her hair is thinning out too.
Lmfao.
People dont want hair on face but they want on head. The world is crazy...
I thought yakuzas generally sport the bald and buzz cut look? Funny I didnt hear any mention of the yakuza
03:00 girl on the left looks like twice mina
8:47 - Absolute sigma male 🤩
Please make an road interview in India on recent killings of Hindus by Muslim extremist Jihadis
lol the guy who mentioned that one piece quote
Is there anything based on which Japanese people do NOT judge and look down on each other?
its awesome to see that jason statham is known well in japan
It's so over. Balding is universally a source of disdain.
I see more homeless people with long hair in America. Some seem a bit uninformed on where hair genetics come from.
Been waiting for the baldness cure, they say it's in Riken already.
濁るか濁らずか大違いあり。刷毛は毛があり、禿げは毛無し。
I love how the one guy used the One Piece reference lol I'm from the states and many, many guys, even some women have thinning hair. Over here being bald became more of a style of acceptance, rather than the old days of wigs, comb overs, and brutally painful hair implants.
saitama: say one more
Would love to see the influence nouya inoue has had in Japan
85% of all men lose hair before they reach 50 years old. Soooo It's absolutely normal.
The speed at which that happens, is dictated by STRESS and genetics though.
I mean there's a difference between having a bad hairline at 25 and 50 years old
It's 95% genetics. Stress is not really a factor, unless it is really extreme stress that is also causing health problems. (Balding is not a health problem normally)
I never saw a bald homeles in Japan,,on the contrary they were all very hairy.
This is certainly more open minded compared to the Korean one
Seem poor. Damn sister. Damn.
She actually said 治安悪い, which means rough, dangerous, crime-prone
But she was talking about their average representation in TV shows
Text too small
I feel attacked 🤣♥️
Being bald in Japan is not as bad because of the manga, anime, etc as say... in Korea. Do one for South Korea.
They did it already
8:47 this guy has the best beard in japan maybe even the world epic
No way you guys met Mr. Omicron!!
The guy with bleached blond/yellow hair will most likely go bald before a man who eats food with additive 🤦🏻♀️ seriously dude? balding is not food related but genetics!
Its funny as I have been out and about and some women have stroked my head. Like their little pet.
I wonder if they make fun of the monks at the Temples? Japan needs to open up more and be enlightened.
dude. what. why do japan have the same graphic as america. i thought it was 2D!
