This is what i think of when I imagine what the best in journalism is supposed to look like. What an incredibly brave woman! Not just the fact that shes walking into a cartel drug lab, but her demeanor makes it clear... any fear she might have is totally under control
I'm trying to understand how journalist like Marinita get access to the inner circle of these cartels. Do they pay these cartels in exchange for information? Many questions but very few answers...
Paid actors. The cops, cartel members, drug dealers/users. Everyone you see in this media production is a due-paying member of ANDA/BLADA, SAG-AFTRA/AFL-CIO or DGA.
Any legit journalist cannot pay for interviews or stories. The industry does have ethical standards. (That's how you know Faux "News" Channel's people are not journalists is they make stuff up and get raises.)
Having once participated in the illegal drug trade, there's no way anybody I ever knew would risk providing a journalist, not to mention a camera crew, the kind of access van Zeller gets. No matter how you cut it, in the hands of the authorities, her films constitute evidence. And somebody, somewhere knows who these folks are. Doesn't add up.
I'm sure your experience is from yesteryear, where rules, structure and common sense used to reside. In 2024, people film themselves committing felonious activities all the time. So stupidity is one answer. Some maybe getting paid well enough to take the risk, especially when a non disclosure contract is signed and identity scramblers are used.
@@pickititllneverheal9016 in the US the ppl that participate in shows like this are police informants. In the scene where Mexican law enforcement checks the producers footage/where they've been feels like the police working for the cartel.
@@michaelhorton9091In reality these ppl can see where these drugs come from but to get clean from them? Shite, if you don't have 10,000 or 20,000 you are screwed.
8:55 lol look at the difference between what they found through that big "bust" compared to what homie had in a hotel room with 50 guests stopping by 😂😂😂
Great video. I've heard from Doctors, News outlets, regular people, and uninformed people that meth is addicting. I used to do meth starting in 1985 and off and on until 2020. When I wanted to stop the only thing that happened to me was i was tired and slept all day. I never had withdrawals at all. I think it's more of a mental addiction. With that being said, the things that the cookers and people down the line are putting in it is stuff meant to make you addicted. It's a different game today.
Stunning, up-to-the-minute reporting on the ever-shifting landscape of the U.S. drug war. Ms. Van Zeller is like a Marvel super-journalist. As an occasional meth user, the Sinaloa lab site was an important reminder to me about the ultimate source of those pretty shards. Gus Fring's superlab aside, those guys would be grateful for an old Winnebago. They're also being 'well-paid' to do what likely comes naturally: not caring what happens to the rich, entitled users across the border. If they claim that the drugs will be produced, smuggled and sold by someone regardless, they're right. The problem isn't so much that Americans are big drug users. It's that we're willing and able to pay hundreds of billions per year for the privilege, held hostage by U.S. policy and the long, dark shadow of criminality it casts over our southern neighbors.
There are massive anti government protests taking place in Bangladesh right now Our country is under a dictatorship rule. Please spread awareness about it. Much love
The comment the dealer said to his mom. To out live her. That hit me hard. I feel the same. Once the unconditional love from our mothers die, then we might as well die too. Our only hope is finding love in this cold cruel world.
yeah, homie even called it shard. bear in mind the narcs that are actual cops and not random junkies who snitch, will get addicted as a snitch, only once the "job is over" they will be discarded and condemned immediately by their so called higher ups and fellow cops, they basically get them hooked and a good number if not most of them end up staying hooked, of course, and either continue suffering silently, embarrassed, are discarded when "caught", and then a few just really are dirty cops who use their authority as a weapon.

I finally realized its best not to even use it once because that all it takes, 1 time and were off to the races again. Don't do it!! Im 42 now. In

Good on you pal, think about the conqunces if the sick thinking trys to trick you. Peace from 🇮🇪.
Here in the Philippines, some of my friends still hook to a drug called Shabu, and we're 65 years old. Luckily for me, never try it.
Congratulations on your sobriety, this was the one drug I was scared to try because I knew I'd be gone forever. You should be so proud you've overcame it as only 1% of users do. Honestly amazing! 🇨🇦
@@crystam7539don't try it's most super addictive drug it's difficult to quit

GREAT DOCUMENTARY FROM A GREAT STORY TELLER!!!
Always watching it From Africa 🌍❤❤❤❤
AWAOME! BEST REPORTING/JOURNALISM IVE SEEN IN OVER A DECADE.
THANK YOU
Mariana is a very intelligent fearless investigator reporter .
I enjoyed that and found it interesting, thank you for the upload. I will pray for all.
This reporter is so pretty!🤗
Is there a more intrepid investigative journalist in the world? Maybe, but Mariana is one badass and stellar journalist, exposing informative and visceral stories and topics.
Lmao the lady knew steps already hold on now 😂😂😂😂
I’m telling you this is why I love her, it’s the fact she’s a independent journalist and gets right down to the point and won’t stop until all her questions are answered and the fact that she can be trusted and doesn’t snitch on the people she meets with which is great because she can be trusted and she’s good at what she does all though I will say this can be very dangerous like the cocaine queen episode where she had to be driven out of the area due to the rival cartel on the property and later finding out that the girl she was interviewing had died in the firefight which this job isn’t easy n scary so I pray Marianna for your safety as one day you might be held hostage and have your equipment taken so please be careful but keep doing what your doing Marianna we all love watching these mini documentaries and they are better than any other documentaries out there
Always watching from Georgetown Guyana south America 🇬🇾🇬🇾
It still amazing to me how they are willing to speak to her.
Grata
I always enjoy Mariana's reports.
This is what i think of when I imagine what the best in journalism is supposed to look like.
What an incredibly brave woman! Not just the fact that shes walking into a cartel drug lab, but her demeanor makes it clear... any fear she might have is totally under control
That military stop was wild, I would have been sweating to death lol
Nah they weren't there to catch anyone they were there to be the guard dogs of the cartel and she was allowed to be there.
My feeling was it was a test by the cartel to see if she’d give up any info. She didn’t, so they let her go.
I'm trying to understand how journalist like Marinita get access to the inner circle of these cartels. Do they pay these cartels in exchange for information? Many questions but very few answers...
Same way Vice goes and interviews Taliban leaders.
Im sure they say they don’t pay but im sure they incentivize the cartel or whoever they are investigating
It's a power move by the cartel.
"Look what we are doing and nothing you can do will stop it"
Paid actors.
That is one brave lady.
They are assigned by the government. Obviously
It’s because it’s the cartel they run Mexico. They do what they want
@@pickititllneverheal9016 in the US the ppl that participate in shows like this are police informants. In the scene where Mexican law enforcement checks the producers footage/where they've been feels like the police working for the cartel.
Poor mom
What a spectacular Documentary from an awesome woman❤❤❤

It does way more than that. It is a vessel to the dark side
This Lady has some serious balls. Wow!
Basically I wonder if it’s a dramatic reenactment
The picture quality and camera angles scream that
its not
@@michaelhorton9091In reality these ppl can see where these drugs come from but to get clean from them? Shite, if you don't have 10,000 or 20,000 you are screwed.
Some of it is but not all
Great Doc!!! Tks Mariana and her crew
May God always keep you and yours safe 💓
Jessie and Walter are back on business 😂

On? Did you mean, *in🥴
This is the best documentary that I've seen.
Bro's are letting her handle it so it's got her print's all over it 😂
Hahhah thats the first thing I tought
8:55 lol look at the difference between what they found through that big "bust" compared to what homie had in a hotel room with 50 guests stopping by
😂😂😂
Mariana is defiantly the goat at this documentary shi
Great video. I've heard from Doctors, News outlets, regular people, and uninformed people that meth is addicting. I used to do meth starting in 1985 and off and on until 2020. When I wanted to stop the only thing that happened to me was i was tired and slept all day. I never had withdrawals at all. I think it's more of a mental addiction. With that being said, the things that the cookers and people down the line are putting in it is stuff meant to make you addicted. It's a different game today.
Mariana Saludos from NorfPhilly you are Badass!👑🙌🏽
It's that we're willing and able to pay hundreds of billions per year for the privilege, held hostage by U.S. policy and the long, dark shadow of criminality it casts over our southern neighbors.
absolute great document
Great documentary
There are massive anti government protests taking place in Bangladesh right now
Our country is under a dictatorship rule. Please spread awareness about it. Much love
Looks amazing ❤❤❤❤
From personal experience: METH IS EXTREMELY EASY TO QUIT.
Your the first post that said it like it really is. Very easy to quit. You only need two things food and sleep.
Awesome reporter,Mariana is
Second to none.😎
@ 6:35 did anyone else think the narrator was about to pull a hit in?
That the best documentary I have ever seen
I don't know how she does it - gains access to all these super-secret, super-dangerous organizations.
Being pretty also help too. I'm thinking of starting a "shake & bake" operation and get her to interview me. LOL.
No cartel is going to let you drive up to a stash house in your own car.
@@wowwow9998facts with the cartel the code of is enforced
The comment the dealer said to his mom. To out live her. That hit me hard. I feel the same. Once the unconditional love from our mothers die, then we might as well die too. Our only hope is finding love in this cold cruel world.
My husband died 2 yrs ago of a meth intoxication.

Why was your filming drone up in the air when you had the encounter with the Military?
Yes Maria that was the army... their army
Great Documentary👍
No more fentanyl added--- Bring back original recipe Meth
This isn’t just reporting . It’s sensationalizing , romanticizing and glamorizing this deadly drug . Thank you Nat Geo!
Thank your government minion🇺🇸
The fk are you on about
I agree. Those images are enough to make. Me high.
Bleeping out swearing during a drug documentary 😂
Impressive journalism. They all took a big risk filming this.
The fact they had a drone up filming right as the military pulled up was very convenient
Thaaaaaank you. Something so staged about a lot of this.
I am an alcoholic, and I can not get out of it, the money sounds nice, well done! for this documentary.
Brought to you by the CIA. 💰💰💰
The highly secure border, you've got to be kidding me....
Cop holding the seized dope from the raid looks like hes using meth too lol
he was on a bender lmao
yeah, homie even called it shard.
bear in mind the narcs that are actual cops and not random junkies who snitch, will get addicted as a snitch, only once the "job is over" they will be discarded and condemned immediately by their so called higher ups and fellow cops, they basically get them hooked and a good number if not most of them end up staying hooked, of course, and either continue suffering silently, embarrassed, are discarded when "caught", and then a few just really are dirty cops who use their authority as a weapon.
😂
I wonder if they’re gonna ever put any more episodes out of this show though because I saw this one when it first aired
