The fun thing is the people involved learned something about the Stock Market no one else put together: Stocks aren't real. You're making real money from an imaginary game so they decided to tip a business in their direction and through consumerism made real money out of fake numbers.

@@nerdtopiaball5255 10 months late but basically big hedge fund company decides to short the game stop stock (betting it will crash) so redditors with nostalgia and a desire to stick it to the rich bought the stocks at a loss to fuck over that company and it happened with a few other companies. And now waaaaaay more common people do small scale trading through apps like robinhood. Frankly as a socalist id rather they just overthrow and take over wall st and show some real force agaisnt the elite but this was still fun to see regardless.
