Annoyingly as people go this person we know as Phil Collins is hugely massively underestimated... and always has been.... this guy has forgotten more songs he wrote more than most bands have written all together.... and he is one person.... I guess some people just cannot handle all that talent oozing from one person... ... speaking for myself I have loved and appreciated your music for many many years so thank you Mr Phil Collins...(talk about a power song this song was awesome when it came out but listening to it on the modern sound system you can really appreciate The adrenaline oozing from it)
I still have the cassette :) I played the hell outta that cassette back when I had the stereo and cassette deck in my 1993 Dodge Shadow. Later, I finally bought the CD so I could import it to my iTunes / iPod :)
LOVE this song, I always used to hear it on the cassette tape as a kid after Sussudio and I'm surprised it was never a single, it's real upbeat and catchy just like Sussudio is! (I was born the same year No Jacket Required came out so it was a part of my childhood)
+callmetoddy You are soooooo right!!!!! My 12 year old son is getting into playing synthesizers and saxophone and is talking about doing trumpet just to mimick parts of this song!!! He already has the synthesizers down!!! I have told him that this is when music was great and Phil Collins and Genesis were the greatest
Just try to remember Now I'm the one you love You told me, ooh try to remember I'm the one you're always thinking of You told me, please try to remember Before I walk away Remember It's not good enough telling me the way it was yesterday
We know you really only want to hear The things we like to say But if I said to you, "Please don't do it" You do it anyway Sometimes I know, we gotta be cruel Be cruel to be kind When I ask you, what you see in me You say, "Our love is blind" 'Cause only you know and I know The things we mean to say Only you know and I know The things we mean to say, oh Whenever I think I know you better Better than I know myself I open up and give you everything Then you say, "Okay what else?" And when I run away you always cry You always over react Well I don't know if you know how you really feel But you better know before I get back 'Cause only you know and I know The things we mean to say Only you know and I know The things we mean to say Just try to remember Now I'm the one you love You told me, ooh try to remember I'm the one you're always thinking of You told me, please try to remember Before I walk away Remember It's not good enough telling me the way it was yesterday 'Cause only you know and I know The things we mean to say Only you know and I know The things we mean to say, yes Only you know and I know The things we mean to say Only you know and I know The things we mean to say Only you know and I know Only you know and I know
I love phil's music, but there's 1 perticular song on his no jacket required album I just can't seem to think of the name. If anyone has the album please list the songs. Thanks
+Gwen Davis 1. Sussudio; 2. Only You Know And I Know (this song); 3. Long Long Way To Go; 4. I Don't Wanna Know; 5. One More Night; 6. Don't Lose My Number; 7. Who Said I Would?; 8. Doesn't Anybody Stay Together Anymore?; 9. Inside Out; 10. Take Me Home; and 11. We Said Hello Goodbye.
I wish this were so,...with me,...🤐With most people I know, my words are often taken as "dimissive", "uncaring", or "offensive"....but, my heart is OFTEN...QUITE THE OPPOSITE, EXCEPT...when used towards a very few"select" and "choice" people, which I HATE...and "wouldn't even p**s on their graves to make the flowers pop up....🤬👹
I think Phil was one of the defining voices of the '80's.
He had an instantly recognisable voice in my opinion.
Qué buen tema,Phill Collins un grande!
First time hearing it. Took me right off my seat! I can't stop dancing to this!
Hey Zoomers! This is what a talented musician actually sounds like. Enjoy. Learn.
Great album! Nothing more I can say!
wore out two copies of No Jacket required on cassette , this one was rewinded frequently

Phil Collins! One of the BEST RECORDING ARTISTS OF THE 80's!!
Phil has always been and always will be untouchable
I’m hearing this disk in 2020 again. Phil Collins was a great singer for me.
There will never be a great singer, songwriter & drummer like Phil Collins was in the 1970’s & 1980’s.
Michael Bertolino Phil is the person I compare Jen Ledger to in terms of being equally good singing and drumming.
I still have the cassette :) I played the hell outta that cassette back when I had the stereo and cassette deck in my 1993 Dodge Shadow. Later, I finally bought the CD so I could import it to my iTunes / iPod :)
Can't imagine living in the days of quality music.
solomonkain same :(
Stuermer's solo is AWESOME
That's my favorite part.
And he can hold his own with Di Meola, Metheny or even the late Holdsworth.
This is music boys !
It's written by a drummer --- hear that beat!
CallmeToddy p
Phil played BASS and drums on this track. Great song. I like to left and right channel deal on Daryl's guitar solo. Really cool!
This is the fucking jam

Man I haven't heard this in years---I need to track this Cd down, quick! One of y faves from back in the day.
Good exercise song,too.
@rainmaker690 That’s an understatement!!
This could be my number two song from Phil Collins, I don't know how well it did back in the day, after writing this I'll check.
Wow, checked on Wikipedia, wasn't even a hit. Love it even more now.
I remember it was the b-side of the 7 inch single Separate Lives (duet with Marilyn Martin).
This tune is awesome from the album
Forgot---I had this on cassette back in the day and the other song loved off it was Don't Lose My Number, which was the bigger hit of the two.
Still listening to Phil. Sept 7th 2024……..
total and utter brilliance.
In this song that got released in 1984, the Linn 9000, real octave trumpets and Yamaha DX7 internal patch “Bass 1” were heard.
Phil at his best.
Love the Horns !!!
+callmetoddy You are soooooo right!!!!! My 12 year old son is getting into playing synthesizers and saxophone and is talking about doing trumpet just to mimick parts of this song!!! Just try to remember
Now I'm the one you love
You told me, ooh try to remember
I'm the one you're always thinking of
You told me, please try to remember
Before I walk away
Remember
It's not good enough telling me the way it was yesterday
absolute punch line great voice
No Jacket Required is my favorite PC CD! :)
Man the vocals
A very well written song. I listen to it ever since I 1st heard it..
Little Elvis was Phil's nickname in the music industry !
Phil is really great!!! Although he stole earth wind and fire horns hahahaha, he really knows how to use them!!
Partner was a vulture. Great song.
Great song
What a Great Song
All but forgot about this one. Wow. Strange how I recall some of the lyrics, too.
the main man , untouchable

From No Jacket Required,
recorded in '84.
Little Elvis was Phil's nickname in the music industry.
My favorite
what a song writer/ performwe, got to be right up there with the very very best
I have 3 copies of this album on cassette and one on vinyl and I'm recording this onto a blank cassette right now.,..who the hell am I????
brilliant
Phil is god
For some strange reason, this song reminds me of Toyota's 1980s "Looking Out For Number 1" ad campaign.
We know you really only want to hear
The things we like to say
But if I said to you, "Please don't do it"
You do it anyway
Sometimes I know, we gotta be cruel
Be cruel to be kind
When I ask you, what you see in me
You say, "Our love is blind"
'Cause only you know and I know
The things we mean to say
Only you know and I know
The things we mean to say, oh
Whenever I think I know you better
Better than I know myself
I open up and give you everything
Then you say, "Okay what else?"
And when I run away you always cry
You always over react
Well I don't know if you know how you really feel
But you better know before I get back
'Cause only you know and I know
The things we mean to say
Only you know and I know
The things we mean to say
Just try to remember
Now I'm the one you love
You told me, ooh try to remember
I'm the one you're always thinking of
You told me, please try to remember
Before I walk away
Remember
It's not good enough telling me the way it was yesterday
'Cause only you know and I know
The things we mean to say
Only you know and I know
The things we mean to say, yes
Only you know and I know
The things we mean to say
Only you know and I know
The things we mean to say
Only you know and I know
Only you know and I know
check out the horns. first I had a mono cassete player then after two years I heard this on stereo and horns got separated .like this since from start
Whenever I think I know you better
Better than I know myself
I open up and give you everything
Then you say, O.K. what else?
Damn. I felt that.
80´s Flair Schwarzenegger Stallone Action Hahahahaha
CJA Productions & Phalene Studios He actually didn't. He played synth bass on the synthesizer.
I love phil's music, but there's 1 perticular song on his no jacket required album I just can't seem to think of the name. If anyone has the album please list the songs. Thanks

Thank you Patrick #3
Gwen Davis My pleasure to help.
great SONG, Sting sang backup on it too. Best song on No Jacket...
I think ESPN used music like this in Winston Cup races.
eye on springfield
Why does this remind me of a kickass generic 80s arcade game about fighter jets???
que potente rola \m/

16 people don't know what they mean to say.
Phone was upside down and they got confused. Only logical explanation
Is there a track with a better Bridge?
Yes ... thousands.
@@floorticket Guess we'll agree to disagree on that one then 😁
hey, no Jim smith, yay :)
Daryl Stuermer produce this song.
Daryl plays guitar on the song...the song itself is produced by Phil and Hugh Padgham...
Holler if _Kids Incorporated's_ version (ruclips.net/video/-RaF9kx0Rng/видео.html) brought you here.
Only jews know and I know.... 😉😉😉😉
Trivia: Collins played bass guitar on this track.
CJA Productions, Inc. lol. That is not a bass guitar. It’s a DX7.
Phil was brilliant !!!
A great all-rounder !!!
