You can also use some sandpaper on the fingerboard to finish the bottom of the nut, and use cheap feeler gauges to cut slots to depth. Which leaves you only the files to buy, which is plenty expensive already. 😊
Yeah, but those small repetitive motions really take a toll on my hands! This sanding station was about $40 and saves me a lot of time and wear and tear. I've had a lot of wrist surgeries, so anything to take some pressure off is a godsend

A trick I’ve done, is piggyback the old & new and start off using the original slots
