    My understanding is the front shocks have only about .3 to .4" unused stroke in the factory setup. Even if you're getting a 3:1 spacer height to lift ratio--and I don't think it's even nearly that high--that would give you a 1.2" maximum lift before the shock bottoms out. So it seems to me that with a 1.5" lift, this rig will bottom out on full compression of the shock unless you also extended the bump stop. Did you extend the bump stop? If not, what is happening here to prevent the shock from bottoming out and smashing itself to bits when the rig takes some hard hits?

    Thanks for your video looks great keeps it classy rather than running 25mm offset wheels. How is the ride quality and mpg vs stock? I don't think there is a 1.5" suspension lift for the front yet? Any chance could show a side picture? Have you done one with a 285/70/18 maybe a better middle ground to save mpg? Thank you!

    The departure angle suffers greatly with that spare hanging so low. Any gains in front clearance are entirely negated by the rear. I agree that the larger tires look excellent, but it cripples its capability. Pity.

  • @snoboyz3
    @snoboyz3 4 месяца назад +9

    Typically when you think 35" tires they are not a 285 series. At least not in the Jeep world. They would be in almost every case 315 series x 12.5" wide. No way I would wheel that LC with the 285 spare sticking way out like that. Not sure why Toyota can't offer a bigger tire (true 35s) like Jeep and Ford (Bronco) do considering how much they now charge for their trucks and body on frame SUVs. Title of this video misleading.

    • @grisa12345
      @grisa12345 3 месяца назад

      Yep, you can even get factory 37s with Ford, and easily fit 37s on a Rubicon. 35s are “fine” but I have to wonder if Toyota really engineered this Prado to handle that stress rock crawling.

    How does it drive now with essentially double the tire weight on each corner? I just put the same tires on my 200 in 17’s, 59 lbs versus 45lb a corner, definitely can feel it even with 5.7 but now use to it after 2 days so not to bad…need to sort the shock issue first I suppose!

    • @alexstoermer
      @alexstoermer 4 месяца назад +5

      @@edmartintoyota8599 That is not the point. A 34.8 inch tire is in fact a traditional 35. The point is you say it fits… Then pause… Then say “except,” which is where everyone lies. You have to move a bracket. And the spare tire doesn’t fit without protruding…And we don’t know what “you have to move the spare to the side” means. But the spare issue doesn’t really count as needing to fit in my mind. What does, most importantly matter, you didn’t cycle the suspension and show through all steering angles it doesn’t rub. You guys make a great videos… Thanks for taking the time to reply. I was hoping that your channel would do the suspension cycle test and show it - and be honest where it rubs. That would set you apart.
