I noticed that when speaking about interracial marriages, a lot of Koreans are only open to either Japanese or Europeans. It's clear the defining standard of someone "Western" is due to the underlying obsession of White features and a proximity to Whiteness if the significant other is White. I will accept that people have a preference but it is unfortunate that these preferences are often constructed through the cultural lens/perception that Black features (dark skin, etc.) are considered unfavorable. As a Jamaican woman in an interracial relationship myself, it is a blessing I am married to a man of Greek background whose family at large love and embrace my features. I can't imagine how difficult it is for some Black men and women in Korea to be accepted by their in-laws, especially so far away from home. I hope S. Korea continues to grow more accepting as Black culture is so widely adored, yet Black people are not always embraced.
Historically, light skin was seen as being upper class in places like Korea and other parts of Asia in general, because darker skin signified that the person worked outdoors, which would have made them a lower class citizen. So you framing the issue as a "whiteness" issue isn't really correct. It's a lightness of skin issue because of what that historically meant. Europeans just happen to have light skin, that just happens to align with Korean preferences. That's all.
Completely agree with this. Certainly not to the extent, but we also see in western culture a lack of unfavorable interracial marriage with Asian or Middle Eastern men. When a women in the west talks about having an interracial relationship it’s usually in favor of either white or black men. And the same also goes for black women, who are reported to be the least favorable dating preference by men in the west. Part of it is, based on the culture, we’ll often see people with similar race dating preferences because of what we’re taught to believe is attractive through media and peers.
@@chrishudson9525 I was referring to the idea of Whiteness also correlating to the infatuation that a lot of Koreans have with White foreigners. There were a few White men that came on these videos and straight up said that some Korean women have made them feel uncomfortable because of how they have been fetishized and lusted over by them. I've also seen a lot of Korean women openly talk about wanting HAPA babies and fetishizing features such as big eyes, taller noses and lighter hair. I knew about the historical aspect of this, but I definitely think the European preference goes beyond that.
@morgan yu It's so funny how people are so quick to defend and justify anti-Blackness in 2022 by just saying anything. Literally what is a "Black feature?" Not sure if you've ever heard of the Eve gene or Mitochondrial Eve but the Black race is scientifically the most genetically diverse race. Every single feature you can think of came from Mitochondrial Eve whether it is monolids, double lids, white skin, black skin or anything in-between, brown, green, grey and blue eyes. So what you said was inherently dumb. I've seen Black people with thin lips, small eyes, straight noses and naturally straight hair so not sure what you were referring to as "Black features." Love who you want to love but if you are developing preferences based on skin color and the features of a particular race, that makes you a racist since you favor the characteristics of one race over others. So you inherently believe in racial superiorities and inferiorities. And if anyone has this perception, that person pretty much justifies it is okay to discriminate and stereotype others (which I know Korea has a huge issue with) because of their "unfavorable features". Not only is it really weird loving someone because their skin is pale but it's also weird fetishizing mixed children as a result, who at often times, end up getting passed down the predominant Asian features over the Caucasian features anyway.
First of all, I really like the idea of interracial marriage. I love to get to know new cultures and stuff and as for the children comming out of interracial marriage, being able to speak more than one language as your mother tongue is such an awesome skill. Bilingual or trilingual upbringing is a thing I would like my children to have! Now, I really enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work!
@@allio3459 I don't have to be married to someone to be interested into their culture, but getting to know someone's culture you want to spend the rest of your life with compared to a friend is way deeper imo
Yeah but if everyone is in an interracial marriage then eventually there won’t be any different cultures etc…and due to declining korean birth rate there will be no Koreans after a coupe hundred years. I am mixed half Chinese half white but if everyone is mixed, there really isn’t diversity in the world
I wrote my master's thesis on Korean American interracial marriage in Los Angeles County and found that first-generation Korean AMERICANS in L.A. Co. marry other Koreans (inmarry) at the highest rate compared to Japanese Americans and Chinese Americans -- if memory serves, their inmarriage rate was over 90%. At around the same time I wrote my thesis, KoreAm Journal also interviewed Korean Americans about their attitudes toward interracial and interethnic marriage and some of the reasons provided to KoreAm was to ensure that their monolingual, Korean-speaking parents could communicate and have a relationship with their spouse, and based on some conversations that I have had with Korean Americans, their decision to inmarry also related to preservation of Korean culture and traditions, very likely in response to what Japan did to Korea/Koreans after and during their annexation and occupation of Korea from 1910 to 1945. BUT, as we noted in our study, with increased acculturation/assimilation (2nd, 3rd, etc. generations) Korean Americans' outmarriage/interracial/interethnic marriage rates increased significantly, as did outmarriage among Korean American in their 2nd and 3rd marriages. And, outmarriage among Korean Americans was higher among Korean American women compared to men, and while eyeballing the data, the non-Korean spouses of Korean women had last names that suggested a Jewish background, and these couples' level of education were commonly at the graduate/professional school level.
Dude u are such a good listener, I get as much entertainment from watching u listen to the answers as the answers themselves themselves. Keep up the good work.
What I noticed living in Korea is that Korean women tend to date westerners when they date interracially, white/black guys from Europe/America and Korean men usually date other Asian people like south east asians and Japanese girls. Though I would say the latter is intercultural dating, not interracial
I am Asian who grew up in the USA and what I see here is white men marrying other Asian women, but not many Asian men marrying other races except Asian women.
@@Mariamomo_ yep, the funny thing is the male tends to be white and not other races like Hispanic, African American or even middle eastern. Just an observation.
As an asian guy, the problem is asian women. My asian mom doesn't allow me to date outside my race, but she allow my sisters to date outside. When I date a black girl or a white girl, she would cursed them and called them ugly to intentionally destroy my relationship. A lot of asian mother are tiger mom, they controlled their sons. You could say that asian women are the villain and trying to prevent us asian men from dating outside, while it's okay if asian women want to date outside. Well, I don't listen to my mom, so I usually just do what I like.
I like how honest some of them got .Not just giving answers that make Koreans look good to the outside world but the reality of what it's like living there.
Second comment and me personally, I love the idea of interracial relationships and marriages cuz of learning from each others cultures and stuff and I think that's great
@@gillove189hmm mm its not my name, its an artist s name that i listen to, i get what youre saying, now that you are an adult you put more effort into learning the languages and traditions that you wish, and because you want to, it will actually be easier, and since you look white and grew up in a latino household, you can choose to adopt any culture in latin america basically and mostly europe as well, im also latino and i can speak both english and spanish, but mostly spanish, and im also on the european look rather than the indigenous look, and i want to learn italian as well as korean! But i think i would blend in better w the italians, because like you said since you dont look korean they wont really consider you one of them, no matter how good you speak korean or act like them, and thats why marrying a person of another race isnt really a good idea or ideal, since you will have conflict with your inlaws and some culture shocks which can be frustrating, since one part will have to give up its culture, amd its not a switching game unlike you where you travel to x country with the idea that you will become one of them for a certain time, and then when you get bored or something, go somewhere else, and in this life you only have one home, and you can travel to many places but at the en of the day only one feels right, like yourself.
Thank you for making space for these conversations to happen! Great interviews! I also would have loved to hear about how they felt about possibly being a multicultural family and raising kids in Korea (or anywhere really), and navigating that experience. ☺️ (But I’m sure it’s probably beyond the scope of this video and that’s ok! In this video Koreans say international marriage(kookje gyulhon) but the subtitle is interracial marriage(injong gyulhon). Interracial marriage is not yet a commonly used word in Korea. It is more of an academic term that can only be found in articles occasionally. Like 4:03 the questioner also keeps saying the word international marriage but the subtitles are interracial marriage. So this is not the kind of problem that Koreans mistake interracial marriage to include marriage with another Asian. They continue to speak using only the word international marriage.
@@gillove189 "Asian" is not a race. Asian just means someone from the Asian continent. Because Asia is a diverse continent with many races/ethnicities, such as Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Bangladeshi, Thai, Vietnamese, Persian, Uzbek, etc. The only genetic categorization that would put Koreans and Japanese under the same group is the term "Mongoloid" which is more accurate if you want to categorize the two under one genetic lineage category.
@@thomasgreene8054 "Asian" is treated as a race but the term depends on where and perhaps even time period it is used. In America, Canada, Australia, Asian typically refers to East Asian. Only in UK, Asian refers to South Asian or people of the Indian sub continent. This may be changing as Indians are now the largest immigrant group of all those countries so there may be demand to reclassify the word for political correctness. I've seen a some Westerners refer to Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis as "East Asians", probably mixed up with "East Indians" or out of ignorance towards the Indigenous in the Americas. But, looking at the larger geographic picture much of Asia's populations such as North Asians like the Yakuts, much of Central Asians and parts of SE Asian are often seen as East Asian where those of the Indian sub continent are Indian related.
Yo, I'm really starting to feel like I grew up in the wrong era man. It so many things that I thought never would be a thing and after watching videos like this, I'm blown away. More and more ppl are open to certain things. Growing up I was taught that nobody likes US and see US in a light that's not interesting, but it seems like the dynamics of culture is changing. Which is good because I would have LOVED to date a foreigner! Just to experience the different cultures and personalities. Super awesome video bro!
well tbh a lot of people still don't and we should talk about the elephant in the room about how it's basically a requirement. Imagine someone doing a video like this in America. It's basically agree or get doxxed and have your life destroyed. Corporate America demands that you "like black people and see them in a light that's interesting"
This is really encouraging to see as I've heard 'horror' stories about foreigners ( especially those from non-western/non- European or caucasian backgrounds) going through really bad xenophobic experiences there. I can't judge or comment as I've never been to Korea, but it appears that the younger generations are more open to interracial relationships and marriages. There's always hope. 😎👍
I come from a country that is very diverse and it’s so nice to hear that they would like to marry someone from a different culture. But it should not matter about their RACE I believe that you LOVE WHO YOU LOVE. And as long as two people find each other and are happy with each other from what ever race. As long as they truly want to be together they should do so. Because when you find your true love the colour of your skin should Never MATTER AT ALL. I like these videos keep making them because I really find them very informative. And may I just say I am in a interracial relationship and I am very happy. 🌸🌻🌸🌻🌸🌻🌸🌻
while this is interesting the underlying facts is that Korea isn't nor will it become more open to interracial marriages unless the foreigner is willing to live in Korea which let me tell you is extremely difficult. Companies won't hire you (its very difficult anyway) and unless you speak Korean fluently there is little change for it working out. Sure you can go over to Korea and stay for a few months, have fun with a few girls/guys etc but ultimately Koreans want to be with Koreans. I also find it interesting Korean men actually seem very open to explore different races but Korean women only seem to want European/american men based on stereotypes that just are not true. Average height for north Europe is tall (181cm) but for south Europe average height is 178cm which is about 3 cm taller than Korean, American is even smaller with average of 176cm. I just don't understand why Korean women believe in these unrealistic stereotypes lol. On a final point I find it very distasteful when the Korean women shun asian men and make harsh statements like "they are small" or "western men are sexy" implying that asian men are not. its a very unattractive trait to have as a person
In america companies hire you if you only speak korean and not english? Or in Germany you can work without knowing german? In which country can you do this?

You cannot work in the US as a doctor or a lawyer if you cannot speak English. In addition, people usually tend to know English at least a little bit, which makes it much more accessible than languages like Korean.
@@kingkuf7371 No, you are wrong. That's because in a lot of companies in Europe, people can communicate in English. You can also come to Korea without knowing Korean if you are coming just to study. Getting hired and studying is a totally different thing and they usually require different visas.

These videos sometimes slightly make me uncomfortable. Not always, but a lot of time the fetishisation of white foreigners is extremely common in Korea. My friend, who’s German, visited Korea a few months back and told me that she had a bunch of Korean men coming up to her saying “I wanna date a white girl” or pestering her about doing one-night-stands, and they would tell it to her face that she’s “easy” because she’s “Russian” which she’s obviously not, but Korean men assume all foreign women are Russian, and it’s really sad. Also had plenty calling her the ‘white horse’ which is so misogynistic. I’m not generalising, as that’s not fair at all. Im also very aware that it happens the other way round (white women fetishising Korean men) but I just wanted to say that because I hear a lot of stories like this from foreign women who have visited Korea. Not just white women but black women also have a stereotype there that they’re “good in bed”, and a lot of Korean men use that to their advantage. Besides all of that, I’m also very interested in branching out and dating someone outside of my own race/ethnicity. I’m a sucker for different cultures and traditions. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you’re not fetishising.
@@user-zh7mo7bi2e Yes they do. Ask white girls who have gone to Korea! this is really weird. ive seen on tiktok people saying how bad south korea is for foreigners and how they are treated so badly, but this video makes it seem like its the opposite. is it just the older people that are like that or what??
I think you are right about it too ,older people may be the reason for majority of time as these are the landlords, shop owners, etc. whom foreigners face issues with. But some young people might discriminate too , because of not being open to foreigners. RUclipsr seems to have a bias of giving Korea an image of pro-interracial marriage... The first 8 interviews were all positive. As a Korean.. this is really not the case.. even with the younger generation. It is much better than the old guard but not like this lol
What I constantly want to remind foreigners about Korea is that it is a single-ethnic country comprised of only 96 percent Koreans. For 5000 years... They were and are still doing well culturally and economically. There is no need to force them to change into a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural country. They have always better options for them than multiethnicity and multiculturalism. Because they're doing better than most multi-ethnic countries... Rather, it would be better for foreigners to adapt to Korean society. Their society is much more orderly, efficient and safer than that of most developed European countries and US. No need to change.

Right, it seems as if they look @ other Asians of different countries as a totality different race, when like you said they're are a different nationality. I was waiting for some of them to mention black men and only 2 of the Asian women specifically said that they were into black men.
you have to ask them to clearify what they mean whenever koreans or japanese use the word ''westerner'' because from what ive seen in these type of interviews, it is clear that the refer to whites, they clearly don't know the west is very mixed and that it makes white to not be the standard for westerner. so when you ask them that it can be a great chance to let them know and be a little more educated. i also realize that they would not say ''white'' so easily because its not from their culture, korea being a mainly korean society and not a lot of other races there, the idea of race is not prominent, so i get why koreans would rather say ''westerner'' when referring to white people instead of ''white''.
Western is European mate. The term originated from the West Roman Empire which occupied large parts of Western Europe. Later on the term was used to describe the NATO countries that bordered the Eastern Part of the Cold War - all being European. Today it has adopted more European countries such as Sweden and Finland - and sometimes countries from the former Eastern Bloc and South America. But every country is majority European. So Western Culture is European Culture. London is no longer a Western City because it has lost the culture that makes it Western. I like how Europeans can't keep any normal title. Are we gonna start calling non-whites Colonisers? Or is that only to negatively describe White People?
i really love your topics and materials, on this particular topic it would be interesting to see answers from older generation of Koreans. It seems there is a big difference between younger generation and older in this topic and overall approach to foreginers.

I think the openness of the girls on changing their last names is very interesting because even as an American myself I don’t see myself changing my last name if I ever get married
I'm a foreigner living in Seoul. Not gonna lie the Japanese -Korean fetish here is really strong among younger generations. Example: I have many Japanese female friends in Korea coming to Korea because they like K-pop and Korean men. Some of them came just to look for boyfriends. Korean men are generally more aggressive than Japanese men so it makes sense for Japanese girls to like Korean men. While Korean men like Japanese girls mainly due to their timidness, behaviour, tone and honestly they have very cute reactions. And there's AV that portrays Japanese women as very easy and behave just like AV while having sex. (No shit my Japanese friends really told me that)

@@seohn Like those interviewed, you're incorrectly using "Western" in a racial sense. Someone being White doesn't make them Western.

Realistically there needs to be better & upgraded immigration policies in most countries. Even if you’re on a spouse visa it feels like you’re just a plus one carry on. In Japan the amount of time you can work is limited & it’s just a minefield for mistreatment. I say again (and I realize my last comment on a video similar to this got a lot of praise) coming from my personal experience as a BLACK MALE from the MIDWEST U.S.A. living in Korea & knowing other brothas/sistas we ARE in the conversation. As a matter of fact we're considered a lot as many people do want to have relationships with us. In fact from what I've experienced and witnessed Korea provides a plethora of options for us within the dating market so do not see this as being a put-down. As a matter of fact many black people are applauded here for our beauty. Now that I got that out the way I say this to equalize everyone's comments and focus on the white and European fantasy here: 1) if you do research it's based in their culture. HOWEVER, if you see the change that is consistently happening all of that is being reversed now as both the young and old are moving away from this concept. I have little Korean buddies that have dated and are talking to African women AT THIS MOMENT. 2) They DON'T know much about us, other than what's portrayed on television. As a matter of fact they don't know much about the outside regardless until they actually LEAVE the country. I've yet to meet a Korean woman that has rejected me or we stopped taking because I am black (If everything to most it's like a dream come true). From reading from the comments I can see it actually goes both ways because blacks just automatically assume Koreans are racist because they don't mention us as an option as frequently as we want to hear. Most of the people in these comments haven't done enough extensive research on how their culture functions and I can say from experience they only know as much as they do about whites as what they see on the television and THAT'S LITERALLY IT. 3) You all would be surprised how LARGE of a community there are filled with Africans along with all the praise they get. And I'm talking LARGE! Literally I know a woman that came here from Cameroon to open up a salon about a decade ago and as soon as word got out it made NATIONAL HEADLINES here! She got flooded with business even from Korean celebrities and it almost overwhelmed her! Ever since then 65% black hair products that YES EVEN KOREAN WOMEN USE (side note I thought it was hilarious watching Korean women gave each other box braids) through HER. And the best part about it SHE'S MARRIED TO A KOREAN MAN. I hate that I have to put caps but it is truly heartbreaking seeing my brothers and sisters feel hurt because we were only mentioned 2-3 times. In retrospect they mentioned Japanese more than they did the whites & Europeans! Come to this country, there's way too much to do in one visit so always circle back if you don't end up working a job staying here. To all my ISRAELITES please leave America and stay OUT of Europe! I don't care if you never come to Korea but at least go back to our home of Israel! Visit the beautiful parts of Africa and travel Asia and I guarantee you you won't go through similar trauma as I have in the states. And I hope to see you there!
Take your spouse's last name is just an OPTION, which means you have a choice of either keep yours or let your husband take your last name, don't let that stop your way of finding true love girl 🤗

In South Korean dark skin has been frowned upon since the Middle Ages due to the idea that if u were richer, you wouldn’t work in the fields so your skin would be light. But this perspective only exists because Koreans are naturally light-skinned. But in other parts of the world with hot climates, people from other races are naturally born with dark-skin and some of those dark-skin people can be Kings, royals and nobles with wealth too because they are born into politically influential ruling families. So dark skin being equivalent to poverty is an old notion that must be discarded if Koreans want to live in the 21st century where meeting people of different skin colors is normal.
I've seen darker complexion koreans and heard how they were considered foreign because the skewed beauty standard. As for Koreans being naturally light skinned, please cite that study for me.
Not all are naturally light, they be using creams etc….. but yuh, sure you won’t find a very dark brown one, even for south East Asians….. they’re all light in ways
I think it’s interesting as an American to hear the Koreans think of interracial as Japanese … because I would normally think they’re both Asian and thus the same race. However, because they are from different Asian countries they only have CULTURAL differences. Interesting video. Idk how this got on my timeline. To the interviewer, where did you learn Korean? My friend’s brother learned while he was in the Army.
I always bring this up when people say that the US or the West is racist. Like Asians consider their own ethnicities to be different races. That's insane. A half-Korean and half-Japanese person will still look East Asian. That's like White people saying that someone half-Norwegian and half-French is mixed-race. With that logic, most White Americans would be mixed-race lol.
Koreans->Mongolians Japanese->not quite Chinese-> so many races different races do we have If divided with skin Black, Yellow, White and then were same race :l
legit. like thats like saying a white british and a white american or a black british and a black american together is an interacial couple just because they are from or born in a different country but the same race. interacial couples to me is like white/black white/asian black/asian and etc.
@morgan yu yeah and that’s the problem sir
Not only is it really weird loving someone because their skin is pale but it's also weird fetishizing mixed children as a result, who at often times, end up getting passed down the predominant Asian features over the Caucasian features anyway.
im actually here for your facial expressions whenever you're holding out the mic and attentively listening to them speak its a really nice gesture bro

@@m.pegges7918 YOU DONT NEED TO BE MARRIED OR IN AN INTERACIAL COUPLE TO UNDERSTAND THE OTHER CULTURE.
Interesting. May you please divulge which repository could your thesis be found?

while this is interesting the underlying facts is that Korea isn't nor will it become more open to interracial marriages unless the foreigner is willing to live in Korea which let me tell you is extremely difficult.

@@kingkuf7371 No, you are wrong. That's because in a lot of companies in Europe, people can communicate in English.

So when we got married on our marriage license we put down both of our last name although we only use one in the USA( because we have to put down our name as it is on our birth certificate) at the social security office I had no problem I added my husband last name to mine ( just one of his last name) but when I went to motor vehicle I was told that I couldn’t ,I have to take both of my husband last name if I wanted to have his last name. It been 11 years and this still bugs me 🤬 I wish they change that rule.

@@allio3459Yeah, this is true. I’m not Asian, but I’m half Mexican and half Bulgarian. Both Hispanic and European parents have similar mindsets to Asian parents (and I’m obviously not speaking for all, but just for mine, lol). My mom, who’s Bulgarian, has said that she won’t be supportive of me dating outside of the Bulgarian ethnicity. My dad, who’s Mexican, has told me he’s FINE with me not dating a Mexican, but they still “have to be” Hispanic. Kinda ironic because they dated outside their own ethnicities, but me and my siblings aren’t allowed to, LOL. A lot of strict parents are like this, and it’s sad because it stems from tons of xenophobia and racism.

Race mixing is bad

this is really weird. ive seen on tiktok people saying how bad south korea is for foreigners and how they are treated so badly, but this video makes it seem like its the opposite. is it just the older people that are like that or what??
I think you are right about it too ,older people may be the reason for majority of time as these are the landlords, shop owners, etc. whom foreigners face issues with. But some young people might discriminate too , because of not being open to foreigners. This video is shot in Seoul where most foreigners visit which might be the reason these people are open , but we can't be sure about other areas, places. And i still think one can visit south korea , but needs to chose places to visit after research so as to avoid bad things.

A pattern I see is that East Asians chase European features, Europeans chase Black features, and Black people looks for validation outside their race. You should make a video interviewing girls if they would date Latin men. Ask about their thoughts and opinions about them.
That’d be a good idea
Very intriguing question
I get the impression that their idea of interracial is different nationality and not necessarily different race to theirs.
Right, it seems as if they look @ other Asians of different countries as a totality different race, when like you said they're are a different nationality. I was waiting for some of them to mention black men and only 2 of the Asian women specifically said that they were into black men.
Im sorry but can we talk about at 2:33 how some random guy just threw up some shit and walked away
you have to ask them to clearify what they mean whenever koreans or japanese use the word ''westerner'' because from what ive seen in these type of interviews, it is clear that the refer to whites, they clearly don't know the west is very mixed and that it makes white to not be the standard for westerner. so when you ask them that it can be a great chance to let them know and be a little more educated. i also realize that they would not say ''white'' so easily because its not from their culture, korea being a mainly korean society and not a lot of other races there, the idea of race is not prominent, so i get why koreans would rather say ''westerner'' when referring to white people instead of ''white''.

Hmm these conversations are always interesting. Interracial relationships are more catered to White, Asian, or Hispanic countries in Korea. Which links based on the desire to be a certain complexion.

I think the openness of the girls on changing their last names is very interesting because even as an American myself I don’t see myself changing my last name if I ever get married
I want to know if he ever faced any prejudice in Korean please tell us we would like to know❤️
I'm a foreigner living in Seoul.
(No shit my Japanese friends really told me that)
Yes, you can see A LOT japanese (women) - korean (men) couple RUclips channels...
You are somehow discriminatory against Japanese women. In fact, there are very few Japanese women like that and mong Japanese and Korean couples, there are more Japanese guy and Korean girl combinations.

@@yoolie9133 I'm not. Even my close Japanese female friends told me the same thing.
More Japanese guy and Korean girl combinations in Korea? I don't know if we belong to the same age group but from what I see in university and outside of university, it's the opposite.
@@jasons4045 I'm a Japanese woman who lived in Korea until a few years ago. Of course there are many couples of Korean men and Japanese women in Korea, but on the whole it is the opposite, Japanese women who date Korean men do so by choice because they are not popular with Japanese men, and there are very few who live in Korea to date Korean men. Don't spread too much strange information.
South Koreans merely have an interest in these four types:
1. Same race with them, it represents South Korean too
2. 교포, it implies has South Korean blood but living outside South Korean
3. East Asian like Japanese, Chinese, etc
4. Western, mostly American
That is why I always try to keep myself on a border. It does not mean South Korean is racist just because they have a preference when dating/marrying a specific type of race.
You can find racism in any kind of factor, but for finding a partner in life/getting married, we need to understand that every people had the right to choose their ideal type or their specific traits.
Its one thing to have preference but its another when you don't guide them in their lives so they can have the best preferences

So are they dating interacially because it another Asian? Would I be interacially dating if I dated an African

Could you ask them what they mean when they say they, "Western"?
Because I, as an ADOS (American Descendant of Slavery) man am "Western".
In fact, it was my ancestors who built America. So ADOS are "more American" than anyone else.
@@seohn Like those interviewed, you're incorrectly using "Western" in a racial sense.
Someone being White doesn't make them Western. For example, although Russia is a White nation, Russia is not a Western nation or Western culture.
Likewise, being "Latin" means that you're not Western. Spain, is not a Western country or culture.
America (like the UK) is a Western country/culture and is not a White nation. In fact, most popular aspects of authentic American culture (i.e., Southern cuisine, pop music and pop culture) were created by Black Americans.

Now that I got that out the way I say this to equalize everyone's comments and focus on the white and European fantasy here:
1) if you do research it's based in their culture.

Its interesting to see how they all pretend to be open to international marriage. Have a look into the statistics and you will see how small the number is.

However, because they are from different Asian countries they only have CULTURAL differences.
Interesting video. Idk how this got on my timeline.
To the interviewer, where did you learn Korean? My friend’s brother learned while he was in the Army.
The interviewer used the word international marriage, not interracial marriage. We don't have a concept of interracial marriage here yet.
Koreans->Mongolians Japanese->not quite Chinese-> so many races different races do we have
If divided with skin Black, Yellow, White and then were same race :l
legit. like thats like saying a white british and a white american or a black british and a black american together is an interacial couple just because they are from or born in a different country but the same race. interacial couples to me is like white/black white/asian black/asian and etc.
