So we made it to the third yearly patreon anniversary. It's a weird way to frame things, but it's why I'm able to keep going so strong.
This year is gonna be rough - I'm trying to expand in more ways than I'm probably able to, try new things with the show, be better all around, and do it all without burning out. Now I don't believe in burning out when I'm sitting here pumping out videos with full creative control, and the space/time to do it, so don't worry too much about me. If I need a break I'll let you know. Until then, I'm staying strong.
Most of that strength comes from my audience. That people are on the other end means so much, so I don't want to drop the ball for ya'll.

Edit: further in the vid, you mention redoing your warcraft 3 vid - please do! I love RTS games and am enamored with the history of Warcraft 3 and it's modding scene, specifically Dota and how it became an offshoot product that still upholds the legacy of Wc3. An updated retrospective is well deserved.

Don't overdo yourself with the Monster Hunter video. While there's not much to go on story-wise, it's A LOT of content, especially if your goal is to hit the endgame monsters that are sometimes locked behind a bit of an online grind to reach a certain guild level. Seeing how the series has really developed itself with each iteration really tells the story, since each generation--and even each game or expansion within a generation--has its own gimmick, especially past 2nd gen, while also building on the mechanics of the last generation. It makes each generation distinctly replayable, but also clearly iterative, kinda like how the older Pokemon generations felt. The community aspect of Monster Hunter can't be overstated as well. I recall spending nights in Loc Lac village just chatting with random hunters in MH Tri.
IDK if you intend to include Frontier, as that's probably its own video in itself, and it's still being reconstructed by avid fans after Capcom shut it down. MH Tri's servers are soon to be restored by fans as well, so its online content will soon return. Servers for anything past Tri are still up, but it's unknown for how much longer. However, all games past Tri will let you access the online content without connecting to servers, so there's no fear of totally lost content beyond event quests, which are mostly series collabs, joke quests, or challenge quests.

Finally got around to watch this! The being embarrased of your games was an interesting topic, it makes a lot of sense when you see a lot of western developers push the "deep and serieous" story telling so much these instead of wacky, fun experiences. So I know this video is a month old at this point but I missed out on the QnA and just wanted to drop in and mention how much I genuinely love your work and the level of analysis you give to the topics. It helps the prose is leagues ahead of anyone else on the platform, and it’s personally inspiring to see something akin to literary criticism granted to games online and that you’re so authentic with the presentation of your ideas. I’m not a JRPG guy but I’ll watch the hell out of your feature length presentations if that says anything lol. I do think the show has a lot of value and I’m glad it exists. I agree with the Pokemon but. I think your reviews on JRPGs come from dissecting the story, unique gameplay, or underrated/obscure gems. I personally don't think Pokemon checks those boxes. Not to say that you couldn't/wouldn't do it.

Kbash! I swing swords for fun and type for profit, wrist strain is a bitch! If you don’t already, start doing daily forearm massages, ideally with Tiger Balm or IcyHot or similar. Some weight training will help a lot too.

I thought you made some good points in your golden sun review honestly. I get not wanting to come off as an asshole, or spread negativity, but I don't think we should just ignore a games flaws and not talk about them. I could just be a cynical asshole though, who knows.
I will say, though, stay away from the Trails series. Cold steel was supposed to be 2 games originally, and it got split into 4. Sky was supposed to be one game, split into two. So you can imagine how much time is wasted with padding. Also the fanbase will come after you if you say anything other than the games are perfect, even if the criticism is warranted, or just intended to be talk pieces. I know from experiencen and I'm not even some internet influencer, so I couldn't imagine how they'd come after you.
Kbash man, i wish you the best of luck for the monster hunter video because those games are LOOOONG. They're very fun, but for the sake of your sanity, it may be easier to split it up into parts. Especially when getting into some of the later games and their expansions

Hey I recently stumbled across your channel, I wanted to say your breakdown of the xenoblade chronicles saved me an awful lot of time. Thanks for that. I don't feel I need to play all the games now and will probably only hold onto the third one. I've played xeno gear and saga back in the day, as the years went on with the games and how far detached they are from the original xeno gear I'm happy to say that this latest introduction into the newest games was a again a massive time saver. I don't mind the games overall but they feel less impact full compared to the original. Maybe that's just me looking for the continuity of the whole series but again thanks.
I'm a huge Metroid prime guy, and I really liked your video on the trilogy. I like hearing the takes from another perspective. Though that might be the minority of people who like things idk

That thing about going back and forth between being social and interacting with people and the communities you like and wanting to be a hermit and just drop content... The struggle is real.
I keep commenting before the video is over and find I have more I want to expound on. I'll say keep it up, I dig the vibe you put out on your videos. The snark and edge bring the energy, but the thoughtful considerations made me a supporter.
The comment about media literacy, how much to expound on, and how much people even take in from sources is pretty spot on. At the end of the day, people choose how much they want to wade into a material and how much they want to find within it. That's also why I like the idea of coming back to works as we get older and gain more life experience.

I saw the Gundam question lol and also want to say you should watch some Gundam. As much as they have the whole "cool robot stuff", the characters and drama are really the stars of the show. Zeta Gundam will make you cry a lot!
It's possible to do 3rd party polls for Patreon by only providing links to the Patreon Discord or via Patreon messages, however it does allow for more opportunity for outside influence should the link get released.

I was the one that asked about your creatively challenging videos, and I just wanted to say that I like your format of videos, they are so comfy and I wouldn't want you to change at all, your style is what makes your channel great :) Your Xenoblade video was my favourite yet too.
Favorite joke that *consistently* sneaks into my brain during the regular day-to-day is “The time has come - a tale of swords and souls eternally retold” leading into the close-up “I need therapy” in the SC6 vid
I have accidentally wondered about xenoblades around a month after you released the video on it. Searching YT trying to figure what the xeno stuff is all about, landed me on a few videos, yours among those. Since then I have watched.. ~50-70 videos of yours, ranging from weird fighting games to dark souls and its spin-offs, to diablo and wow3, 90% about games I've heard of but haven't experienced myself and would want to know more about, even though I consider myself.. rather educated on the industry as a whole.
The xenoblade chronicles one is the best. It's the most detailed about the series story, it's mechanics, and it's impact on you, as it seems. I sort of expected the souls one to be more of the same, and I wasn't disappointed even though it was a bit different.

Also for the FF games, do them separate. You know, because they're not that connected, add them as separate entries to the polls and review those that get selected. Shorter videos that 3h, and should be worth it both for the viewers and for you, including for switching the type of content done.
And I don't think you have to OUTDO someone on that, it's matter of hearing the opinion of YOU specifically on those games, and not some OBJECTIVE REVIEW thing. Because it's through the prism of conveying what the author of the review thinks and feels and experience that we, the viewers, are able to extrapolate meaning for ourselves and entertainment value in the videos themselves.
