Looking good there Billy. I'd have made a quick couple of jigs. 1 for the pilot holes. 1 for the base. Finally 1 for the bit under the tree. If you have to do something more than once, a jigs the best way forward. Finally, do the majority of the sanding before you do the cutting.
Yes I’m finding that out fella.. I made a quick stop block / jig for the press for the repetition stuff and it was fantastic 👌 I’m going to be doing more thinking about jigs / set up
I've swapped over to LED Tea Lights for resale items as you cut out any potential liability if someone has an accident with a naked flame. They look really good Billy :)
Brilliant as usual you could do with some of santas lickle helpers!! Maybe a few of us could come round!! A lickle question Billy how do you stop tare out when using the drill press? When i drill through it always splinters.
I love this man. Going to pick up my first miter saw today. Found a delta cruzer for $100. Gentleman got a bigger saw I suppose. Keep up the great work!
Lol- I think I know who you’re referring to with the 90°F weather- but today actually feels more like autumn so we have to take advantage of that! I also feel wary of lit candles with wood and prefer the little battery or electric ones. Love this little project and good for Shelley catching the woodworking bug- hopefully we get to see her use her lathe- now that’s a tool that interests me. Have a great day- enjoyed this video! I like the modern sort of rustic finish instead of reds and greens! Love to you all!
It’s cold here 🥶 I’m also very wary of naked flames near combustible stuff and really these need the small electric candles. Her lathe will be out soon she was making lots of pens and stuff like that but since moving everything back home we are just trying to organise space. The lathe is super satisfying to use 👌
A great project and simple for any aspiring woodworker to complete. Here in the UK we have to put t lite candles into either a glass or metal container to obviate the risk of fire. Doesn't detract from the overall finish though. If you are making dozens of these l think l would make a jig to just drop the components in rather than having to hold them. I think people with arthritis might struggle a bit to hold things together. Altogether a very worthwhile project but l wish we could get decent timber like you do .
Yes some kind of jig to drop them in.. I’m also in the U.K. and I get it about the glass etc, my thought was those little electric ones .. battery operated. I’m in Derbyshire and luckily my supplier is decent.. there’s some stinkers out there 👌
@thewoodjunki great that you are in the UK. It looks for all the world like you are in the states but l did wonder when l noticed Rutland name on your sawtooth bit. I have done woodturning for over 35 years and use many glass or metal holders. Also l served an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker in the early 60s. You keep up the good work. I am having to pack in due to ill health.
Really nice thanks for the idea. I like how Shelly is starting to help more with your projects. If it's possible I would like to see you two do one together.
What's up brother always looking forward for your videos. Woodworking channel that actually builds some thing every episode awesome 💯😎. How about shelves to put on wall. Square shelves or floating shelves. That's a big thing we're I live in the states. Dallas, Texas. Me personally I like the rectangle looking shelves with miter corners I think they very nice. But what ever you build I'm watching. Probably my best wood working channel. Cause I'm a beginner too. So I feel right watching. Your a better wood worker then me why I learn so much on your channel. Good day . The candles your wife did were awesome the way she decorated them and different ways to set them up was great. Sorry for the long comment. But you guys rock 🎉 til next time
Yes I’ve got some projects planned for different shelf & systems.. you have just actually give me a good idea with mitred shelves 👌🪚 Thank you for the kind comments it’s super appreciated
Hahaha! Careful what you wish for as far 90 degrees. For us (Texas) it started in April/May and we're still getting close to that number even this late in October. So I guess Shelley let you use her tools for a project ;-) On that one cut you didn't want to do on the miter saw you could lay another board next to and level with the board you want to cut. Then put a board on top of both boards so that it spans across both. Put the clamp on that board and it will make that cut safer. You could do the same with the other side of the board as well. Do you have a stamp with your logo on it? The bottom of those could use it. Great and easy looking project. Thanks!

Brilliant as usual you could do with some of santas lickle helpers!! Maybe a few of us could come round!! A lickle question Billy how do you stop tare out when using the drill press? When i drill through it always splinters.
I put a piece of wood underneath, it massively helps 👌🪚

Nice and easy little (depends on how much you make) X-mas project and as you said, nothing has to be precise ...... must look hand-maid.

Haha I’m no good in cold or extreme heat 🤣 great tip on the board I’ll try that definitely 👍
@ Yea that little trick is very useful. Just make sure you clamp it down tight and go slow. I use it all the time.

Nice 👍
