      Am playing WoW mostly (finished all the seasonal fomo grinding except for the fomo holiday pet Arfus am trying at least once a day). I had a great moment this week Infinite Timereaver dropped on my 12900KF 7900XTX 48gb DDR5 build. I also rebuilt my 12700KF 3060 rig with the same Asus TUF Wifi Plus Z690 board (from my 12900KF build, ordered another when it was on sale) and it works great with the TG Delta 32gb kit of DDR5. The B760M board is getting shuffled to a 12400F 1060 build, which I still need to order more DDR5 for. Most of our upgrades around the house are with the Spectre/Downfall stuff happening recently and sales so idk just migrating all the data is what I work on from time to time. BG3 am thinking about going back to playing later. It's on my to play more list.

    "Destroyer of PC Builds"... made me laugh out loud--and yeah, that case and its fans are ridiculous.
    I do have the Lian Li Lancool 216 in my box--and I did spend the extra $20 USD to put a CoolerMaster RGB Halo, becuase Lian Li thinks it made sense to put in a simple lightless fan in the back--but the first thing I noticed about the O11 was the insane lack of fans.
    The moral equivalent of a $500 case for almost ANY budget build is crazy, and Lian Li ought to be ashamed of themselves for even offering such a thing.
    Great fun watching you boost folks' builds, as always, Jason--and I second the idea of you doing a video (or two?) that tells us what some of the folks who builds you boosted actually did with your suggested.

    Another fun and informative video, Jason. I've said this before, but I appreciate you go into detail about each component when boosting a build. This is helpful for incremental upgraders like me who do one component at a time and aren't doing a complete new build. For example, my next upgrade will be a new mobo, CPU and RAM (platform pending). I have the experience to be able to pull and re-seat a CPU and its aftermarket cooler on an existing mobo, but I just don't have the time. Swapping in a new mobo "kit" is a lot faster and makes more sense if I already have the SSDs, GPU, PSU, etc. This is where individual component details really help builders like me to know what's good and what's not. Keep up the great work!

    • @thenext9537
      @thenext9537 9 месяцев назад +1

      That's what I do. For example, I went from a intel 6700k 32gb ram and 2080 super. Now I have 7800x3d. I did the cpu/mobo/32gb ram for 610$. Recently I snatched a rtx 3080 on ebay for 375$. Basically 1k for a new machine that's super fast! re used my 1.3k power supply, my m2 drive, case, Noctua d15 cooler, etc.
      Makes it much cheaper vs a 2000 build out the gate for doing all at once. I never did Ebay for a gpu, so I wasn't sure. But for a 4080 it's 1200$! I play at 1440p now and I get 60-150fps on ultra everything (except Starfied, I see your icon is that haha). I get 100 on Starfield now vs the 47 I had before. Long story, yea I agree a 'kit' is how I roll. Keeps costs down from all in all at once.

    To answer your question with the rme series, yes it is a problem with the fan bearing they used for that lineup of psu, as well it's not even really built better than the 2021 rmx series.
    If you want a replacement, in the US the be quiet! Pure Power 12 M is about the same price, 10 year warranty and much better built as well quieter. There is also a focus gx model around that price, just know using many of the 3000 series of gpus can cause too much noise to the psu and cause it to shut down, it's not an OCP thing. Johnnyguru has said to either remove the +12v sense wire or put an I ferrite bead on the +12v sense wire, seasonic apparently does or did rma / send out something to fix this issue but not sure if they still do considering the age of the psu, I will contact them later and ask.

    • @dianaalyssa8726
      @dianaalyssa8726 9 месяцев назад +1

      I think from my research the capacitors start to go with the age of the PSI also. Have a couple of Seasonic units with 10 year warranty, A tier ones. Also have some SF ones, I should probably branch out, that PP one sounds interesting.

    • @sparklingion
      @sparklingion 9 месяцев назад

      @@dianaalyssa8726 cool to know! there is always a reason afterall that the most minimum requirement for a decent powersupply is 105c japanese capatiors (or better). By sf you mean superflower? Love their psu's and they have sales often so I recommend them to people when I can, amazing customer service as well! Be quiet psu's in the past few years have been quite good at all ranges. They use HEC for a few of their 12 models and cwt for their higher end and most of the 13 series models, I prefer cwt over hec but hec seems decent overall and you should have no issues : )
      cwt also manufactuers for corsair, silverstone, thermaltake, and more.

    Not an audio engineer but I do work with them and I know the last few decades that the GPU was an afterthought but recently use of that curse word AI is changing that. RT cores can help develop unique virtual instruments or sound profiles, mostly on CUDA of course. No idea what the first person does of course, just wanted to mention something I've noticed. Going dual or triple m.2 drives will be great too. One for OS/programs and another for project files can keep everything quick.

    My setup is quite similar to the first one you suggested. Quite happy with it. The CPU & GPU and RAM amount are exactly the same and other components are higher tier (Noctua cooler, G skill RAM, Corsair PSU, Phanteks case) and others probably lower tier (Kingston NVME, Aorus MB). With a 13-1500 max budget, and a soon to be first time PC Builder, I'm really hoping to get a cpu/gpu combo of Ryzen 7800X3D/RX 7800XT with 2 TB storage without breaking the bank. You're videos are really helpful!

    i would assume the original board was chosen for the PCIE slots for audio cards that use audio snakes , its a good way expand a studio from 8 in/out to 48 in/out with high head room , the french Digigrams are old but they havent really been surpassed especially when you look at the ability to expand them all the way to recording a small orchestra

      The only reason I thought that might not be the reason is that they are currently using a laptop so I assumed that we're dealing with external capture devices, but if that is not the case I do like the UD B550.

    A tip for the Hi-end build:
    Because there's budget left, go for the exact same RAM but 2x32GB. It's gonna be significantly faster.
    The reason is not the size, it's because the 32GB sticks are dual rank. Overall performance gain can go up to 10% depending on the application.
    Plus more RAM is always welcome 🙂

    I could get any aspiring amateur music rig set up with an APU these days. DAWs aren't terribly GPU intensive, you'd only need an rx6600 at max for multi monitor support. Almost zero DAWs support 4k (you can use 4k, they just don't scale well), 1080p is still recommended. Mobo is by far the most important piece in a music rig, you can't go cheap, or it's almost a guarantee you will get signal path noise from poor USB grounding, regardless of what you're using for an interface. The one you chose was *_absolutely_* necessary over the original one, great choice btw!
    Source: painful lessons as an amateur producer haha. I've built quite a few studio rigs now though.

    I would say the first build should’ve had the Montech air 903 max case instead. It has 140mm fans instead of 120, an rgb/fan controller, and much higher quality for greatly improved building experience. Only downside is that the exhaust fan isn’t rgb but the upsides are easily worth that concession imo. Even 3000$+ it’s a great choice if you don’t care about having a somewhat basic looking case.
    The bitfenix on the other hand has a lot of ‘quirks’ that could be frustrating like a weird front panel that can trap dust or cable holes that are a pain to work with.
    Technically the sale is a 10$ Newegg gift card but you can just order the case first and then get one of the other parts with that gift card.

    Hey Jason I’ve hit a road block with my 1440p build. I’ve been piecing things together to save as much money as I can and want the build complete by sometime in December. I’m patient enough to wait for the final holiday sales. Ive already bought a Ryzen 5500 ($91), RX 6700XT ($299) and the Bitfenix Nova Mesh mATX case ($59). I want a motherboard that can use the gen 2 argb that the fans in the case require (3 pin connection) and I’d like WiFi. I’d prefer the WiFi from the board unless you know of a board and WiFi card combo that would work as well. The previous board I looked at would require a WiFi card and adaptors to make the argb fans to work properly. Any ideas?

    I wonder why Asus didn't go for WiFi 7 for the tuf board that was a bit weird, I think the new pro version has WiFi 7 but I'm not sure

    Hey Jason! I’m really new to pc builds, and I am wondering if I go for an 7900 XTX is worth it with the 7800x3d ? Or what would be a good build that can play games in high fps 1440p and 4K gaming. Sorry if the way I’m wording my words sounds confusing 😂

      Also should I go for Nvidia or AMD, I just chose AMD because I saw that it’s the best price to performance compared to nvidia gpu’s. I do want to play games with ray tracing like cyberpunk… idk what to pick at this point….

    Hey Jason!
    I'm looking to upgrade my old pc for some engineering tasks (like solidworks, catia v5), but my budget is 300 euro.
    I was thinking at Ryzen 5 3600, gigabyte b550 ds3h, 2x 8Gb corsair vengeance 3200 cl16, ssd WD black sn770 1Tb pcie 4.0
    I will reuse the case, power supply Seasonic SS-500ET and an old vga radeon 6450 1gb
    I've heard the cpu runs hot so i'm not decided for a custom cooler, can you suggest one?
    Thank you for your reply in advance!

      5600g is a viable budget option for Solidworks (not sure about other engineering applications so definitely check) but you could get that a b450 or 550 mobo and 32gb of ram, set the vram allocation to 8gb and get a solid upgrade imho.
